119. Shane Filan - Everything To Me - EP

Out on the same day as "The Thing" by Atumpan. Hopefully this wont get in the way of The Thing getting to #1.

Great to see Ellie Goulding at #1! Bye bye Avicii (hopefully I say this for the last time now).

I don't realistically think The Thing is going anywhere near #1. A really amazing song though.

Imagine Capital FM playing Arctic Monkeys :w00t: :w00t: Will be listening to The Big Top 40 today then! Cannot wait to here this live in a few months.

When the Arctic Monkeys were popular they used to play them, but I could never imagine them playing songs like those now.

You don't like Avicii's song?

Not really. Sounds like a nice song to do ballet dancing too. I do like that he tried something different with the verses though.

Ellie Goulding's song is worse i think and doesn't sound like a #1 worthy song.

I assume you've never done ballet dance before, nor ever been to watch a ballet in your life (watching Black Swan doesn't count. No-one watched that film for the ballet).

I prefer it to Avicii's, since it's actually got a rhythm to it. Burn sounds like a Stargate song to me.

Anyway hopefully Sonnetanz will kick it out of the #1 spot next week.

Funny you should say that. Based completely on presumption, it may be produced by Stargate. Leona (who did the demo) works really closely with Ryan Tedder (who I think wrote the song) and Ryan has worked closely with Stargate before - writing 'Got 2 Luv U' by Sean Paul/Alexis Jordan (what happened to her?).

Alexis Jordan (what happened to her?).

She had this at the start of the year (which should've been released and became a HUGE smash :()

I thought exactly the same thing, but it's actually Greg Kurstin on the production! The verses sound like a Stargate song imo.

Probably wasn't the best idea to bring it out around the same time as Get Up (Rattle) got its release :kink:

I did think that initially, maybe she should've chosen a more obscure dance track to rip off after it proved to be such a winning formula for 'Happiness'.

That's mainly what I was referring to. What actually came of it? I thought it would smash after the success of 'Get Up (Rattle)'. :o

Yeah, it sounds a bit like Got 2 Luv U actually, and also like Till I'm Gone by Tinie Tempah, What's My Name? by Rihanna, Lose Control by Keri Hilson, Twilight by Cover Drive, Help Me by Tinchy Stryder, etc. I know not all those songs aren't produced by Stargate, but they all sound so similar in my opinion.

There's also the chorus to Come & Get It by Selena Gomez (which actually IS Stargate). I don't know how to describe it, but despite the loud synths, those songs are all rhythm driven. It's not surprising when someone like Sean Paul or Rihanna or Tinie does a rhythmic song, but I wouldn't expect that from people like Selena Gomez and Ellie Goulding.

I reckon they probably thought "Hey, there's this song called Rattle which is everywhere in clubs the past year, let's sample it and get a hit from it", but instead Bingo Players pushed it commercially first.

Does anyone know yet if Burn charted in the Top 200 this week thanks to the Alienator remix being in the charts for most of Sunday?
Alexis Jordan nicking a dance track, well I never - she's definitely never done that before. *Cough*DEADMAU5*Cough*

At least she credited him, etc. When the Black Eyed Peas sampled him around the same time they did it without asking permission.
