Just realised the last thread had hit 50 pages, so here's 3.0, and the most recent posts from the last one;

 

DJ Kent and The Arrows provide Rontvia's second South African entry of 2013!

 

Following two consecutive DNQ's was never going to be an easy task but Ricardo Delta has turned to South African male producer DJ Kent and female duo The Arrows for their 57th BJSC entry, Spin My World. Ricardo Delta said 'RTVN 1, FSR Rontvia's biggest radio station have had Spin My World on the A-list for the past couple of weeks and the reaction has been immense, it's a brilliant little house/bassline track with a beautiful piano hook but some production that reminds us of the glorious commercial garage era. Twinned with some absolutely gorgeous vocals we're hoping that this will at the very least return FSR Rontvia to the final'. The track has climbed to No.1 on its second week on the chart in FSR Rontvia, something that Du & Jeg and Bad Boys Cry failed to achieve. Its parent album The Weekent by DJ Kent has stormed in at No.3 on the album chart! Listen to Spin My World below;

Must say I am FULLY behind your entry Rich. It's been all over radio here in SA the last week and I was actually considering it for the next contest! But I'm so pleased you've gone with a SA artist nevertheless! :wub: Who knows maybe Kathaldazia or FSR Rontvia could make history this contest with two South African artists finishing within the top 10 for the first time ever? Wishful thinking I guess :kink:

 

 

Thanks Kath, I wondered whether you might have been considering it as it sounds like your sort of thing but I didn't see it in your personal chart. Such an amazing song though and I downloaded his album too which is great, so many different styles of dance on there. This is my second South African entry this year, there's some great music coming from your country at the moment, making me want to visit even more, if only the flights weren't so expensive! Haha who knows, maybe :D

 

 

Ooh what have you sent previously? SA really is home to some stunning music that will ALWAYS go unnoticed worldwide. Artists here never really make it big worldwide except the AWFUL Die Antwoord to an extent who scored a top 40 hit and Freshlyground who featured for 2 seconds on Shakira's Waka Waka. So seeing other people outside of SA enjoy our music really is something special!

 

 

I Will Be Strong (dance remix naturally) by Nádine in January. Haha yes, check out my latest blog post (see my sig for the link), I mentioned those two acts this morning! Locnville got some airplay here with Sun In My Pocket but either it wasn't released or it hugely flopped. Half the time it's almost impossible to find as well, considering it's top three on iTunes in SA, I had to upload Spin My World to Youtube myself :lol:

Loving that blog post BTW. :cheer: 'Spin My World' does sound like it could crossover internationally indeed, I'm yet to get Kent's album but I saw it was top 5 in the albums chart so I'm obviously missing out! :heehee: I'm guessing my entry this month hasn't quite caught on in Rontvia, 'Closer' is MILES better than 'Sun in My Pocket'.

Loving that blog post BTW. :cheer: 'Spin My World' does sound like it could crossover internationally indeed, I'm yet to get Kent's album but I saw it was top 5 in the albums chart so I'm obviously missing out! :heehee: I'm guessing my entry this month hasn't quite caught on in Rontvia, 'Closer' is MILES better than 'Sun in My Pocket'.

 

Thanks Kath! It wouldn't sound out of place on Disclosure's album, so I don't see why it couldn't catch on here! There's nothing as commercial as Spin My World, and there are a lot of chillout type songs on it, but it's an enjoyable background listen with a few real highlights for potential future singles. I hadn't listened to your entry when writing that post this morning, I've literally just finished listening to them properly!

I guess, and it was technically joint 15th, which was a hit, but officially not. Nowadays I consider getting to the final to be a hit of sorts considering how competitive it is in BJSC now, maybe I should just say top half of all of the entries is a hit? Out of 51 entries, coming top 25 in the final perhaps!?

I'm technically in the 3.0 club as well but just because I had a country name change and then later was too lazy to bump my Persephonia thread and started a new one instead :P

Spin My World is the third DNQ in a row for FSR Rontvia

 

Ricardo Delta has been rendered speechless at FSR Rontvia's third DNQ and huge failure in a row with Spin My World by DJ Kent feat The Arrows. The song, which has spent two weeks atop the Rontvian national charts thus far, continues a dramatic downfall in Rontvia's BJSC fortunes. 'It's a great shame. It's a beautiful song and the piano melody and lovely vocals have captured the hearts of our public but clearly it hasn't translated at all across The Buzzjack World. We're not sure where to go next, the nation is in mourning but we've got nothing else to lose now so who knows!'.

So undeserved Rich. I am absolutely HUGE on the song right now and so is the whole of South Africa the song is EVERYWHERE and smashing on iTunes.

It's got so much more BJSC appeal than my own entry which is why I'm especially shocked, it has to be a case of #WrongSemi. I just fail to comprehend how it can DNQ. So gutted. :snif:

The bizarre thing is, when I posted about it on my blog it caused a MAJOR reaction, loads of my friends and other readers of the blog got in touch via FB/e-mail to say that they loved the track! I get that it's probably a grower though and perhaps not right for the contest but that piano melody is SO good, it's even inspired me to learn to play the song on the piano myself (which I mastered this afternoon! :D). BJSC is, after all, a cross section of 50 people with differing music tastes and what appeals to us isn't necessarily refelected elsewhere so I'm not TOO bothered by it. Look at how hard Ray Foxx flopped in BJSC last month and he smashes into the UK top 15 this week! Garage and house has never done well in BJSC so it's not a surprise whatsoever, just a disappointment!

Ooh, listening to this again always reminds me why I fell in love with it in the first place and sent it, so gorgeous :wub: Strange that it didn't make the top ten, sounds like an easy BJSC top five looking back! Definitely one I should have used in Unknown Pleasures instead I reckon.
