August 24, 201311 yr Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control) I actually really preferred it to Real Girl. Edited August 24, 201311 yr by Jade
August 24, 201311 yr Hush Bray, Radioactive is incredible (it's silly people like you that stopped it being part of the main album )

Never having even troubled the top 200 before, it sees a sharp rise to get to a commendable #64. As one of the biggest Scandipop hits of recent times I'm surprised it hasn't done so before. It is of course deserving of every accolade, I've really come round to it in the last year and it looks like many of you feel the same. Registering almost as big a climb is the veteran Coldplay single Fix You, not quite reaching the high of 25th it got back in 2007 but doing very well for an alt rock ballad. Similar-ish in style, the closest song to the final, Snow Patrol's Run falls 16 places. The Leona Lewis version remains in the final but the original couldn't quite go all the way. I do think it's slightly superior although I know many who can barely separate them or think that Leona's version is better. Paparazzi is one of the few Gaga singles from her glory days to not be in the final but it makes up for it by coming quite close, while Gorillaz' only #1 falls from its peak last year a little. I think it's the perfect alt dance song by a group that's great at experimenting so should've done better, still at least Feel Good Inc got to the final, that surprised even me. My countdown, Gorillaz looning comes with it.  Anyway, that's the sorry lot that didn't make the final 60, see you tomorrow when I'll start counting down that lot and we come closer to this year's song of the last 10 years. Voting is still open until the end of the day if you haven't voted already. ^_^ I'll just post the list of previous winners to warm expectations up: 2006: Natalie Imbruglia - Torn 2007: No Doubt - Don't Speak 2008: Britney Spears - Toxic 2009: Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love 2010: Lady Gaga - Bad Romance 2011: Lady Gaga - Bad Romance 2012: Robyn & Kleerup - With Every Heartbeat
August 25, 201311 yr Paparazzi and Fix You  The latter is one of my favourite songs of all time. Edited August 25, 201311 yr by Jade
August 25, 201311 yr Gosh Eyes, the dismissive write ups for nearly all the Girls Aloud and Britney tracks is painful to me. :(
August 25, 201311 yr Author Gosh Eyes, the dismissive write ups for nearly all the Girls Aloud and Britney tracks is painful to me. :(Â I gave Love Machine a good one and Toxic, Everytime, Biology and Call The Shots will get good ones. Don't lose hope yet Jay.
August 25, 201311 yr :snif: The 'Something Kinda Ooooh' write-up will take time for me to recover from. x :PÂ (Fantastic thread so far by the way!)
August 26, 201311 yr Author Final results are INBOUND. We had a stunning 54 voters in the end, you are all amazing people, but now it's time for me to reveal the results in a slow, completely untense manner: This Year / Last Year / Year / Artist - Song / Points in the Final / Run http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7ySSv5fBeEM/TX_RxguIsEI/AAAAAAAACA8/SOpiAR5GS8Q/s400/Rip.jpg http://www.bet.com/music/photos/2012/01/the-25-best-alicia-keys-songs/_jcr_content/leftcol/flipbook/flipbookimage_22.flipfeature.dimg/012412-music-alicia-keys-songs-try-sleeping-with-a-broken-heart.jpg 60 65 2010 Rihanna (feat. Drake) - What's My Name? 170 (36 - 65 - 60) 59 46 2003 Evanescence - My Immortal 170 (more votes) (X - X - 101 - 100 - 143 - X - 46 - 59) 58 33 2010 Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart 183 (33 - 33 - 58) 57 RE (209) 2010 Lady Gaga - Alejandro 184 (79 - X - 57) 56 130 2004 Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath 194 (138 - 113 - 91 - 57 - 148 - 116 - 130 - 56) Taking the wooden spoon we actually have two songs. My Immortal and What's My Name finished on exactly the same points, with Evanescence getting one more vote. Not two songs I would have liked to see at the bottom, I mean My Immortal was my 2nd favourite in the final, and I'm always sad when a RiRi song doesn't live up to expectations. This is My Immortal's last year so let's just all take a moment to cry or just feel awesomely emotional as we listen to it one more time. What's My Name has plenty of years to go. Along with Rihanna and Drake there are two more 2010 songs here, little gutting as it's my favourite year but perhaps those that made it through weren't quite that year's best. Hmm, what have we got, Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart + a Gaga single that's one of her really good ones? Yeah you people know nothing. It can probably be agreed by nearly everyone that TSWABH is Alicia's best and most ~epic~ by a long way, as it has been for the past few years at the respectable position of #33 but now fallen to #58. :( It surprises me a little to see one of Gaga's FIVE songs in the final out so early but I'm never sure if it's popular or not, as that run shows quite well. Oh and Destiny's Child's most arresting and powerful pop stomper gets a new peak by one place to continue its 100% record. Yay.
August 26, 201311 yr I was kind of expecting 'My Immortal' to be like top 10 - very happy to be wrong about that. Good riddance to it and 'Bring Me To Life' in next year's ROTD! Gaga's best song is her lowest in the final, typical. 'What's My Name?' is a very undeserved last place as well.
August 26, 201311 yr Alejandro has probably aged the best of all Gaga singles to date (didn't peak as much at the time, but still sounds so fresh every time i hear it). Can't quite explain why it's the lowest of her big 5 here.
August 26, 201311 yr I wouldn't really regard Alejandro as part of a 'big' anything as much as I love it and I'm actually surprised to see it so high. In my mind she has her HUGE singles - Bad Romance, Poker Face and Just Dance, her VERY BIG singles Paparazzi, Born This Way and The Edge Of Glory, and then Alejandro I guess would filter in just below those. Shame to see Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart and What's My Name rather low, both SO good. Yes at people finally coming to appreciate Release Me too! Â As for Hips Don't Lie, I always feel like it's a song that the general public seem to appreciate more than online fan communities. It's without doubt Shakira's signature song but most people seem to prefer Whenever, Wherever. Hips Don't Lie is my 4th favourite song ever so I'm with the general public on this one.
August 26, 201311 yr Author http://hiphoprapscene.com/rock/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Of-Monsters-and-Men-Little-Talks.png http://www.ashley-spencer.com/ArtIsEverywhere/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/GnarlsBarkley_Crazy.png 55 NE 2012 Ellie Goulding - Anything Could Happen 196 (55) 54 NE 2012 Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks 199 (54) 53 106 2008 Saturdays - Up 210 (173 - 112 - 43 - 106 - 53) 52 37 2006 Gnarls Barkley - Crazy 218 (103 - 48 - 98 - 86 - 119 - 37 - 52) 51 64 2003 Sugababes - Hole In The Head 218 (39 - 59 - 31 - 33 - 37 - 114 - 64 - 51) The first two of the 9 freshers to these results filter in at #55 and #54, Ellie Goulding's comeback Anything Could Happen which took a long time for me to appreciate but it was worth it in the end. Coming 10th in its yearly round it was quite a surprise that it did eventually reach the final, its freshness must have helped. The other one is indie-folk track Little Talks by what is almost certainly the highest Icelandic artist on here, Of Monsters And Men. It was one of the best songs to be a hit in 2012 in my opinion and as almost everyone else seems to love it too. The imagery is impressively unique for a pop song and it's clearly going to be a lasting hit if its performance this year has been any indication of its place in the public's consciousness.  We have another section where both the Saturdays and the Sugababes are being talked about, just 4 above the previous ones. Up was the only Sats song to make it this far. It got over 200 points so that's not a flop by any means. Not really. It is one of my favourite Saturdays songs, it feels like it defines them in some way. It's certainly the track non-fans will admit to liking first, in general. Up performs the slightly unusual feat in halving its position on the previous year. Over to the Sugas, and Hole In The Head registers a decent climb on its final year. Nearly every year spent in the top 60 it leaves with a commendable run. Like Up, it's also probably in my girlband top 10. Which is cool and all. And then we come to Crazy. Of course no-one could not know this song if they were conscious during 2006 so it has that going for it, it's also pretty good for something that felt like it was played every second of every day in that time. It's been 7 years Iz, get over yourself, overplay is not a factor after this long. Anyway, it falls from last year's peak but this is still its third best performance. Â
August 26, 201311 yr Alejandro  Shame to see it so low but it's probably my least favourite out of all the Gaga songs in the competition, even though it's amazing. :P
August 26, 201311 yr Anything Could Happen  Definitely took a while to connect but it's pretty formidable for me now. I wouldn't really regard Alejandro as part of a 'big' anything as much as I love it and I'm actually surprised to see it so high. In my mind she has her HUGE singles - Bad Romance, Poker Face and Just Dance, her VERY BIG singles Paparazzi, Born This Way and The Edge Of Glory, and then Alejandro I guess would filter in just below those. I meant in terms of the 5 here :P I agree it's definitely not one of her main signature hits (unfortunately) but i thought it would have performed better than at least Just Dance in this countdown because it's often quite loved on the internet.
August 26, 201311 yr I was disappointed to see Ellie being the first to go from 2012 but just seen she was 10th in the year so I guess just getting to the final is pretty great really. Still, deserves to be much higher. Good performance for 'Little Talks' and 'Up' is the best Sats song by far so good to see BuzzJack getting something right in the ordering of female pop songs
August 26, 201311 yr What's My Name, Alejandro and Anything Could Happen  Can't argue with any of the other finalists so far with the exception of Alicia Keys (58th best song of the past 10 years really Buzzjack?)
August 26, 201311 yr Author What's My Name, Alejandro and Anything Could Happen  Can't argue with any of the other finalists so far with the exception of Alicia Keys (58th best song of the past 10 years really Buzzjack?)Â Yes. Really. Should be so so much higher. The dive into the chorus is blissful.
