Fantastic to see this so high, presumably due to the price reduction to £4.99!

Probably a busy Top 10 this week with Pearl Jam, John Newman, Cher, Paul McCartney, The Saturdays and Jonathan & Charlotte all heading there. Not really sure what will be number one this week - Miley won't have done more than 40k in the albums last week so all non-new release album will probably sell lower than that.

Don't think there are any #1 contenders out of these new releases although sales will likely be quite low so maybe John Newman could sneak it or, dare I even suggest it, Jonathan & Charlotte may do a Richard & Adam... although their debut only got to #5.

The Sats will convincing lose this battle by the looks of things... :(

Pearl Jam's last album only did 26k opening week back in 2009 but Lightning Bolt seems to have generated far more hype for no particular reason. They've never had a #1 here so that'd be nice.

Would be rather unexpected if Pearl Jam had their first #1 album, I suppose it could happen but I'd imagine 'Lightning Bolt' will be about as frontloaded as 'Sirens' was (incidentally it looks like that was indeed ineligible to chart last week). Really not sure who'll be #1 this week, actually wouldn't be surprised if 'AM' got back there - although I see now Newman is up to #2 on iTunes.

OOPS at Eliza, this era has gone a bit quiet for her since 'Big When I Was Little', didn't even know she had a second single out until yesterday, let alone the album already. Probably going to struggle to go top 20. Giggs looking at a second top 40 album still having not made the top 40 singles!

I suppose John Newman's had the most pre-orders from the new releases so he'll probably be #1. Arctic Monkeys sold 17k last week so I'd be surprised if he couldn't even do better than that.

In terms of midweeks, Pearl Jam will probably be Top 3 with either Arctic Monkeys or Paul McCartney at #3 (Paul McCartney obviously does much better with physicals - currently #1 on Amazon). I can see Pearl Jam dropping throughout the week, purely based on the fact I have no idea who they are! :P Miley Cyrus and Cher to complete the Top 5?

Giggs is now up to #4! Obviously he'll probably do pretty much nothing on physicals (if he even has a physical) but it looks like he might do similarly to the Krept & Konan album a few weeks ago.

I didn't realise 'AM' had dropped below 20k now when I posted that, thought it was still on course for about 25k last week - in that case John Newman/Pearl Jam should be #1 then (or Paul McCartney if he is really shifting a lot of CDs). Don't think 'Bangerz' is going to hold up too well, hope there's a chance of 'Brand New Machine' outselling it overall (although Miley is now back ahead on iTunes).

Wrong. 'Game Over' by Tinchy Stryder feat. Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah, Devlin, Example and Chipmunk made #22 in 2010.

Paul McCartney's previous studio album Kisses on the Bottom sold 24k in February 2012 (with the one before that managing 21k) so ~15k would probably be the very least it will sell. I can't see AM decreasing in sales too much but Paul will most likely still be ahead now I think about it.

oops

Well he hasn't had one of his own singles make the top 40 yet then :P Shame as 'Look What The Cat Dragged In' from his last album was a tune.

'Living For The Weekend' looks likely to be a 4th top 10 album for The Sats after their disastrous last album (although TBF that was released at quite a silly time). I'd be surprised at Will Young being that high with another GH just one studio album after his last but I have seen the ad for 'The Essential Will Young' a bit.

Pre-orders top 200:

89. James Arthur (Deluxe) - James Arthur

92. Midnight Memories (Deluxe) - One Direction

110. PRISM (Deluxe Version) - Katy Perry

115. Shangri La - Jake Bugg

Done!

The majority of The Essential... albums are merely cash-ins and I think that's the same with this considering no-one in the Will Young AF realised it existed until last week. :P I do think I'll purchase it though as I like quite a few Will Young singles, especially those from Echoes so it's useful that a couple appear on this compilation.

The Saturdays seem to be able to bounce back in the albums as well as in the singles after a flop, although there's quite a pattern forming with their albums - hit-flop-hit-flop-looking to be a hit. But like you say, On Your Radar would have done much better if it wasn't released so close to Christmas; it's first week sales would have been good enough for Top 5 if released a month or two earlier.

Their management was stupid!! Haha. My fave album and could've gone platinum if they had released it after AFU :(

Glad to hear you intend to buy it Liam. Pity the other 2 Echoes singles weren't included. There's nothing to attract an ardent fan. We did know about it in the AF but see it for what it is a cash in by Sony now Will is with Island. I'm actually surprised it's doing as well as it is given The Hits has sold 600k. I'll probably get it further down the line just to add to my collection. There'll be far more excitement for the new music next year. :yahoo:

It is a shame about 'Losing Myself' and 'I Just Want a Lover' being missed out - especially for the former considering it was a Top 75 when 'Come On' was not - but I prefer the two that did make the tracking list. Oh I see, I just had a glance at the first post of the main thread. Ooh a new album? Hopefully there will be another 'Jealousy' sized hit!
