WELCOME

Hello and welcome to the fourteenth edition of Unknown Pleasures, Buzzjack's premier competition for discovering new and inspiring alternative music.
Play along by searching out a wonderful track hidden in the blogosphere or perhaps even from the darkest corner of your vinyl collection.
Once you have found a track that you are happy to have represent you, let me have it by sending me a lovely PM. I'll then collate everything and the contest can begin.
There is no restriction on people entering, it doesn't matter to us whether this is your first post or your 100,000th.
Generally speaking we like to keep this relatively low key so participant numbers will likely be capped at 30 or so if I'm lucky enough to get that many.
As with all fun, it must be closely monitored and thus we do have a few rules that you need to stick to. They are:

RULES


01 There is no rule with regard to genre or length.
02 The artist or band of your choice must not have reached the top 40 singles chart in the UK.
03 The artist or band of your choice must not have reached the top 20 albums chart in the UK.

04 The song must not be on the current UK release schedule.
05 To enter the competition you must send myself, Dandy*, a PM detailing the song you wish to enter together with a link to a mp3. Also include a link to the song on (preferably) YouTube, Vimeo, or Soundcloud.
06 The MP3 must be either 256 or 320kbps please. Well it doesn't absolutely have to but in reality 128, 64, 32, 16 or 8kbps would do shockingly poorly so there’s really no need to even bother entering if that's the best you can do.
07 You must not choose a song that has been previously entered (full list here).

08 Songs from the same artist will not be allowed to participate in the contest simultaneously. Also, songs by acts who featured in the last contest will not be accepted. If two people choose the same act, the one who submitted their entry first will be allowed to enter the act. Preferably try and enter an act that has never been submitted before, this is unknown pleasures after all.
09 You must not reveal or even hint at which song you have sent. Part of the fun is not knowing who sent what so please do stick to this one.

10 I reserve the right to refuse an entry if I feel it does not fit within the spirit of the competition.
11 Have fun indie kids.

Sent something I'd been saving for this, just kinda hoping no-one is going to send the song I've earmarked for the next BJSC (the perils of watching both contests)

Still think "Like An Animal" by Cymbals deserved better than 27th. I guess the lesson is, don't send 8 minute songs. :(

Don't normally go crazy for arty stuff, but I'll just post this for a THIRD time because it's shit hot.

 

I've not been following new music this month, but then again I've sent 5 year+ old tracks recently and they all did very well so I'm not that fussed. Hopefully I can think of something completely unknown this time because the last few have all been a bit borderline.
