Surprised there's not already a thread for this.

Anyone else as excited to see this as me? I'd have thought so given the number of modern F1 fans on here. Hunt winning is mt first memory of F1. It was also the reason my mum changed her criticism of my dad's driving from 'who do you think you are Stirling Moss?' to reference Hunt. It's also among the most dramatic of F1 seasons in '76

Anyway, it's already being tipped for Oscar nominations and wins.

Already seen; you can read my review if you're interested. (No spoilers, although if you know the story already, it hardly matters!) Really good old-fashioned Hollywood entertainment, the two leads are fantastic.
This looks good - I really enjoyed Senna so am hoping that something that dramatises a similar rivalry will be just as thrilling a watch (even though Senna was more of a documentary). Our independent cinema isn't showing it until the end of the month so I guess I will have to wait a while (worth doing as it's only £4.95 to get in on weekdays).

I read your review yesterday I think on Letterboxd! Brilliant film, my love for F1 seems to have died a bit of a death over recent years, but I always enjoyed reading back through stories of past seasons when I was younger, so it's nice to see the '76 season really come to life!

This is always kind of inevitable I think. As F1 has gotten (rightly) safer, more tactical and technical the actual balls to the wall racing has suffered. Pretty much every race I watch these days is interesting but not exciting and sadly for me aside from Alonso there isn't a single driver on the grid worthy of being classed alongside Senna, Villeneuve, Clark, Lauda, Prost, Fangio and others either in terms of ability at the wheel or personality.

I know people will say 'rose tinted glasses' but even the highlights dvd/programmes are dull

I really enjoyed this, surprising as I've never watched any F1 before but it was probably in my top films so far this year.

Saw this tonight. Fantastic performances from both leads. I was unsure about Hemsworth initially as I have very strong fond memories of Hunt but he had won me over to him before I realised it.

A few minor historical niggles - Them actually being good friends and the Japanese Grand Prix didn't have rain throughout the race being the most obvious - and it's quite frustrating trying to pin down which actors are portraying which drivers when almost none of them are given any real time. Would have given some poigniancy to drivers like Ronnie Peterson and it doesn't dwell enough on the deaths of the 5 drivers that actually occur during the films timeframe. I think it would've further illustrated how close Niki came.

But all in all an outstanding film. Now if Ron Howard could just dramatise EVERY F1 season I'd be quite happy
