I'd say Jade's the strongest vocalist from the album alone, but Perrie was by far and away the best of the lot of them when they were on The X Factor, probably because the other three hadn't quite found their place in the group (although I suppose how could they have when Perrie was being given the only and all of the solos? :kink:).

Quite surprised to see though that people were generally underwhelmed with 'DNA'. :o Very strong album on the whole, IMO, with only a couple of tracks that I wouldn't really go back to out of choice, see: How Ya Doin'? and Going Nowhere. Other than that, it was pretty flawless, but I suppose each to their own. Hopefully they don't go too different to the sound they had in 'DNA' with this upcoming album.

I adore the album, but I can definitely see the faults people have pointed out in it. It lacked cohesiveness and consistency, despite the songs being great as stand alone tracks. I would compare it to Jessie's debut in that sense. To me it was definitely an album of "hits potential" as opposed to being one particular sound. I don't think I've listened to the album as a whole for while, but I definitely go back to the tracks individually depending on what I'm in the mood for. But I can let it slide as they hadn't had enough time to craft into which sound worked best for them as a group and I think it's what a debut should be for a band like them, trying to find their niche.

Hopefully, like Jessie, they will find the sound that worked best for them as a group and stick to it for a more cohesive album this time around. 'DNA'/'Mad House'/'Red Planet' is definitely the route I'm hoping for, but if they want to stick to the 'Wings' sound I think I could still be on board. Wouldn't surprise me if they went more down the 'How Ya Doin'?'/'Going Nowhere' route as they seem to be favourites amongst them. (As long as there is a ballad as strong as 'Turn Your Face' on there, I'm all up for anything really)

Perrie's definitely the *strongest* vocalist, I don't think there's any question there... Whether she's the best or not if down to you (but she is the best for me).

I really enjoyed DNA, it was pretty good for a debut album, the whole image seems very catered to young girls but the album was at least better than The Sats' debut for me. How Ya Doin'? remains amazing (single remix, not the album version).

There appear to be two questions. :kink: But yeah, if you find her to be the best and deem her to be the strongest vocalist in the group, then surely those who find Jade to be the best are entitled to believe she is the best vocalist? :P

"Best vocalist" and "strongest vocalist" mean two different things though...

What is the difference between them, then?

Well strongest vocalist means the most powerful voice which Perrie clearly has. However te best vocalist if the person who uses their talent most effectively and I'd say that was Jade personally as Perrie doesn't always use her voice well and can be underwhelming live.

Fair enough. Both quite similar, but I understand what you mean. I do agree about Perrie too, she doesn't really use her voice the best she can, and only ever seems to pop up on a song of theirs if a big note needs belting out, or if they're singing as a foursome. Jade however does do a lot of things with her voice, and it's for that reason I find her to be the best vocalist (or is it the strongest? :kink:) - in all seriousness though, Jade is definitely the strongest vocalist in a couple of their songs: Change Your Life most notably.

Jade is definitely the 'best' vocalist for me, her voice isn't as strong as Perrie but in a group like this largely doing fun pop songs and not huge power ballads Jade's voice is more suited. From when I saw them live, she was definitely the best vocalist too, she has a good pop voice but also a great range so she can show that on more vocally dependent songs.

Perrie's voice nearly ruins half the tracks on the album. It's so BRASH and she lacks any technique. She just shouts. Very unpleasant.

A perfect example of Perrie ruining a song is Turn Your Face. It's a good song, but as Jark says she just SHOUTS. :(

Jade is the one who will have a (moderately) successful solo career if Little Mix were to ever split. She just has "IT" (in all the performances, videos and interviews etc..). Also, Leigh-Anne would do well as a soloist I reckon. She looks and feels more like a superstar than the other two, imo. Jesy's voice on it's own is terrible, but I think she carries the harmonies tbh. Perrie's voice is great, but I do see the faults which people pick up on.

But I'm looking forward to seeing what they have planned for this album/era! I'm sure I'll lap whatever they do up!

None of them would do anything at all as a solo artist. Although Jade's voice is good, Perrie's is far more interesting and less run of the mill.
I don't think Leigh-Anne would be that marketable at all as a solo artist. She has a great voice, and there's still a lot more of that that they need to explore with the new album, but I think she depends a lot on the other three girls to be as good as she is. Her solo in DNA, though... If she ever were to go solo, a blend of that and some good pop tunes would be amazing!
Leigh-Anne's voice is WEAK. I love Perrie's voice, she literally makes Turn Your Face as good as it is for me. By far the best vocalist IMO.
I can definitely see Leigh-Ann being a lot more marketable as a solo star than Jesy and Perrie. She steals the 'How Ya Doin'?' video for me. All the other videos have been about Jade looking like the star, but I think LA definitely stole that video for me. I agree with Davidson in that none of them would be that successful as soloists, but if they were to go solo I can definitely see Jade and LA making it the furthest.

Well... this is decent. Very well produced. But perhaps lacking that killer chorus. The "verse" before the final chorus is fabulous. B+ right now.

This is seriously good I love it ! probably one of my favourite songs they have done ! :D
