I'm not much of a Horror fan. The 4 Scream movies rank in my favourite movies of all time though, mainly down to Courteney Cox though.

Gale Weathers >>>>> all other basic bitches.

Jennifer's Body and The Strangers are the only other movies in that genre I have seen, both are pretty good too.

Oh dear this thread is turning into the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' rehabilitation centre  Glad i'm not the only one to have been subjected to it at a young age.

Must say I thought "Blair Witch" was a big DISAPPOINTMENT although that could be more to do with the hype pre release- anywhoo here's ten films which genuinely did scare me when I saw them

I largely agree. I watch it expecting it to hit me because of the fuss, but i just stay bored until the final section and even then it's a bit... oh.

"A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" is hilariously funny though and helped me get over my fear of Mr. Krueger.

Which is why i refuse to watch any of the sequels <_<

'The Strangers' 'You're Next' is fairly to similar to that, with added comedy if you fancy a trip to the cinema (DO IT)! And obviously the Scream movies are classics <3

Sequels ruin everything.(except Scream if you don't include the 3rd one)

I only went to see The Strangers because Liv Tyler was in it. Those peeps in masks led to me not sleeping for a week

Sequels are amazing. Scream 2 >>> Scream 4 >>> Scream >>> Scream 3

Scream 3 didn't have enough Sidney :( and the supporting characters, except Jennifer, were all crap.

I'm gonna make a List and post it at some point through the week. Listing a horror film list will probably be really hard, I mean evergone who's everyone knows thay horrors are mostly all good :D My fave genre anyway. I know that Carrie, Basket Case, The Birds, the conjuring and a nightmare on elm street will be on there!!

How can you not be a horror buff :(

Who knew 'The Birds' was such a favourite here. Definitely gives me the jeebies but it's largely a different kind of scary to what Hitch was so good at imo. 'Dial M For Murder' does it for me; not even really a horror but the way it slowly and meticulously builds up before climaxing is just terrifying beyond reason.

I can sit through a horror film and enjoy it, but after it... Things start to play on my mind and mental images start to form and it just takes over me. I often find myself not being able to sleep for weeks because that has happened in the film and there's a potentiality it could happen here, to me. Pathetic I know, but it just frightens me. I don't go to the cinema to watch them, and I often watch them LONG after they're released, but Paranormal Activity (the second in particular) is scary as f*** for me - cannot watch it alone. I daren't even watch the final one because the scene in the trailer where Katie (that's her name, yes?) is on the drive-way staring up at the girl in the window is just PETRIFYING. :(

On another note, I've watched 'The Devil Inside' too, and that was honestly a really terrible experience. :( I watched it with my cousin and he had watched it previously and knew what was happening when and he would just keep doing things that made it all the more frightening. Some of the scenes too were just... ghastly. I'm not really a superstitious person, nor do I believe in anything the film portrays, but it just really creeps me out and makes me think a lot.

ALTHOUGH. Scary Movie 3 >>>>> your fave horror films (even the girl in that fucking scares me, but CLASSIC: "CINDY.... THE TV IS LEAKING")

Oooh the shade at drag me to hell and The Conjuring! Haha :P

My faves! Are;

1. Scream

2. Drag me To Hell - Generelly eery, yet comical genius of a movie

3. Scream 4

4. Sinister - so creepy

5. The conjuring - Intense the whole way through!

6. insidious - Amazing and horrifying, although the second was rubbish

7. I know what you did last summer

8. the Shining

9. Woman in Black - Don't know why it gives me so much shivers!

Ju-On!! Need more Japanese/Asian stuff if anyone can recommend (will check out Dark Water), they really don't hold back. Definitely an area i want to get into more.

Have you seen Thirst, Bal? Gorgeous mixture of horror and gothic romance, one of the finest vampire films ever. Speaking of, this year's Byzantium with Gemma Arterton was fantastic and such a surprise.

I love horror, so I won't even start listing; my all-time favourite would be Rosemary's Baby, and of recent years, [Rec] had me quivering in the cinema. Still, actually, when I think about the ending.

How can you not be a horror buff :(

I'm not either... Just really isn't for me, does about as much for me as say heavy metal music as a genre...

Saying that, Scream >>>>>>> lyf.

Scream is absolutely AMAZING. Favourite film ever along with Mean Girls I think. Almost completely perfect to me.

I love all things Horror. I am not easily scared now though really. Hills Have Eyes makes me feel sick though, that rape scene is truly disgusting, I dunno why but that film stuck with me for AGES and gave me nightmares, I must have been fairly old at the time ... 15 or so? Still can barely watch it now.

Cal! I overlooked you including Dr. Caligari. The original <3

And on the Paranormal franchise, #3 >>>>>. Who knew someone called TOBY could be so scary :o

I have seen 'Thirst' yes! Amazing. I watched it alongside 'Oldboy' and had a hard time ranking which I preferred (went with 'Oldboy' in the end just cause).

Also for vampires the big 'Let The Right One In' has to be up there. The remake to a much lesser extent, the Swedes just make it so much more stylish.

What have we seen/are we watching over the next few nights??? *.*

Might try 'The Exorcist' tonight but i'm alone and don't think i can hack it so will probably wait until tomorrow when i have company. 'Night of the Living Dead' or the original 'Halloween' are also must views (the latter is a staple every year). Also saw 'The Corpse Bride' a few nights ago to ease myself into the festivities.

I just saw the first Friday The 13th movie for the first time. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

The Exorcist is one of those films that was super scary at the time it came out, but hasn't aged well AT ALL. I fell asleep when I last watched it, boring as hell. -_-

Still can't cope/handle 'The Exorcist'. It is a lot slower than I remember it being, but OMG when it gets going. I seriously cannot watch it. Nightmares for days!

It might have just been the fact I saw Scary Movie 2 before eventually watching The Exorcist.

Your mother sucks cocks in hell!

I might venutre out of my very limited horror collection (Scream 1-4 and Jennifer's Body) tomorrow. Although, Adam Brody as a cop in Scream 4 is very tempting.

I know its subjective but i really struggle to see where some of the disdain for 'The Exorcist' comes from. The first few seconds of the signature music alone are enough to give me goosebumps and no matter how hard i try to resist it, i see Regan's face when i close my eyes for at least hours after watching it.

Hmmm and i've watched it with people that started laughing half-way through when the terror really kicks in and I found it quite unnerving that they could do so if i'm being honest so it's probably good that i've never paid attention to the 'Scary Movie' franchise. The line you quoted Oliver is the opposite of funny for me and it's one of many moments when i just want to turn the film off :/

It might not have the most ground-breaking special effects and it's very over-the-top etc but at its core it's a really special film imo.
