Hope that Robin Thicke gets a spot just as 'Blurred Lines' falls out of the chart. ;)

May as well copy the list of rumoured/confirmed artists from Wikipedia for sakes of discussion:

A number of artists are being lined up to perform during the live shows. Cher and Ellie Goulding will perform on the first result show. Series 9 winner James Arthur has confirmed that he will perform and Liam Gallagher said that his band Beady Eye would be performing. Barlow will also be re-launching his solo career by performing. Also reported to be performing are Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Susan Boyle, One Direction, Olly Murs, Robbie Williams, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Britney Spears and Union J.

Oh Christ at the possibility of Miley Cyrus performing.

Isn't this Beyoncé's first time of performing *solo* on X Factor (previously performed 'Listen' with Alexandra Burke)? That will be quite a performance! Actually looking forward to Cher's performance, so long as she isn't wearing some skimpy leotard...shudders.

So from that list, it'll be this lot to watch out for presumably:

Cher | 'Woman's World' or 'I Hope You Find It'

Ellie Goulding | 'Burn' or 2nd single from 'Halcyon Days'

James Arthur | 'You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You'

Beady Eye | Unknown

Gary Barlow | Let Me Go

Lady Gaga | 2nd single from 'ARTPOP'

Miley Cyrus | 'We Can't Stop', 'Wrecking Ball' or 3rd single from 'Bangerz'

Katy Perry | 'Unconditionally'

Mariah Carey | Unknown

Susan Boyle | Unknown

One Direction | 2nd single from 'Midnight Memories'

Olly Murs | Unknown

Robbie Williams | Unknown

Beyoncé | 1st single from fifth album (?)

Céline Dion | 2nd single from 'Loved Me Back to Life' (?)

Gloria Estefan | Unknown

Britney Spears | 'Work Bitch' (?)

Union J | 'Beautiful Life'

This is Cher's first performance on The X Factor, yes? Wouldn't surprise me if they got her to sing 'Believe' instead.

Fatboy Slim - Eat Sleep Rave Repeat should get 100k after it gets performed on the x factor.

Is that even happening?

I'm sure Cher was on the X Factor before with Christina Aguilera?
Britney better perform!

Would be amazing! She's in the UK next week I think?

She won't be performing next week, that's Cher and Ellie. If she is performing I can imagine it'd probably be midway through the live shows.

I meant week of the 14th, as I've heard she's on Alan Carr on the 18th October.

Quite a lot of the artists pre-recorded their performances last year, so I am sure she will probably record it while she is here.

Hmm, possible that she could perform on that Sunday. If she is we'll find out very soon. :P
Beady Eye is such a random act to be performing on the X Factor, I'm still not convinced it will happen.
It's probably only an attempt to diversify so that they can get viewers that they wouldn't otherwise get. It is such an obscure choice, though...

Beady Eye also performed on The Voice UK, so it's not too inexplicable a choice.

Where are Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds these days? Surely they're due a second album soon.

These artists benefited the most from X Factor appearances, scoring #1 singles & #1 albums off the back of their performances:

Alexandra Burke [bad Boys | Overcome]

Cheryl Cole [Fight For This Love | 3 Words]

Cheryl Cole [Promise This | Messy Little Raindrops]

Girls Aloud [The Promise | Out Of Control]

JLS [Everybody In Love | JLS]

Leona Lewis [bleeding Love | Spirit]

Leona Lewis [Run | Spirit: The Deluxe Edition]

Olly Murs [Troublemaker | Right Place Right Time]

One Direction [Little Things | Take Me Home]

Rihanna [We Found Love | Talk That Talk]

Robbie Williams [Candy | Take The Crown]

Take That [Greatest Day | The Circus]

Undoubtedly the artist that benefited the least from performing on The X Factor was No Doubt:

[single: Looking Hot - N/A week charting: #397 on 11/11/12] (Sales: 680)

[Album: Push and Shove - 4th week charting: #150 on 11/11/12] (Sales: 966)
