First post will be updated accordingly ~

What songs from week one that are used do you think will get the biggest boost(s), if at all? New peaks at all for any?

This was really what they sang tonight? I'm not very familiar with 80's music, but I'm sure there must be thousands of amazing songs from that decade, but there's only like 20 songs I ever hear... Not just X Factor either, Heart FM, TV adverts, etc. It's always the same few songs.

They're not performed until tonight (starts at 8pm). :P But yeah, they always do go for the most predictable choices. I think the only inspired one there is 'So Emotional'. The rest are just BOG standard what you would expect from a theme like this, especially the horrific 'Alone'. :drama:

... bad karaoke night? :P

I think Van Halen's "Jump" is another one that doesn't get this kind of exposure too much. All the others - yes, very predictable types of stuff.
Are you sure it's Van Halen's Jump that Miss Dynamix are performing and not The Pointer Sisters' song of the same name?

The 80s was a quite amazing decade for pop music.

X Factor is about money and ratings and why risk all that by being adventurous and find something amazing.

It's not as if there isn't other good pop-rock from the 80s

Imagine Somewhere in My Heart getting played on X Factor. The world would end.

Heart's Alone better have some effect

You're probably right, the leaked list just hasn't bothered to say 'Jump (For My Love)', I assume.

I've just spoiler tagged this, I know it says 'contains spoilers' in the title but you never know if someone will absent-mindedly click when they don't want to know stuff. ~professional~

Obviously you can remove the spoiler tags after the show :P

Pretty much echo the opinions above: not really happy we're going to hear the same old karaoke stuff but it's nice to see a couple of original choices there like 'So Emotional' and 'What's Love Got to Do With It' - standouts from the respective artists' discography.
Makes a nice change that all the songs actually fit the theme, at least.

Which reminds me, I hope to God they don't have Rock Week where contestants perform ballad versions of massive rock power anthems.

Or #1's when they weren't actually #1's...

Or #1's when they weren't actually #1's...

 Oh dear, yes. Like when 'Listen' by Beyoncé was performed (a #8 hit, how can you mistake it?!)

Or "musical heroes" week featuring songs by people who either haven't been in the business long enough or hadn't had enough hits to be classed as a musical hero. (I'm pretty sure someone sang a Bruno Mars song during this week, and this was a few years ago)
Or dance week featuring pop songs being dance-ified and dance songs been balladised. We could go on...
