October 17, 201313 yr BTW Anyone read MW from 29/9/13? It has an interview with radio 1 playlist chiefs and music industry gurus asking questions about how the playlist is compiled - very interesting reading - not good if your a Muse fan!!!!

Yeah I've seen it. I was a little worried they'd think The Killers new track "wasn't good enough" too, but looks like they've given them another chance. :) I hope they can keep supporting Muse a bit longer, but I suppose it depends when they release the follow up to Te 2nd Law. It's unlikely to be before 2015 at the earliest.
October 17, 201313 yr I do think it's terrible that they just dump certain artists after a while for flavours of the month, I miss the days when they were more open minded with the playlist and playlisted more tracks too.
October 17, 201313 yr Robbie Williams is now banned from Radio 1 :( for being 'too old' Edited October 17, 201313 yr by fiesta

Muse must be one of the most underrated bands of the century so far always bring back a big return & very unique. The actually words of the Radio 1 chief were - "Muse are at a crossroads on radio 1, we werent convinced with their last material (The Second Law) but decided to go with it but if its the same case with their next material they may well lose our support." What age are they.....? Edited October 17, 201313 yr by steve201

What age are they.....? I've estimated a 2015 comeback for Muse as there are normally around 3 years between each album for them. 1999 - Showbiz 2001 - Origin Of Symmetry 2003 - Absolution 2006 - Black Holes & Revelations 2009 - Resistance 2012 - The 2nd Law All members of Muse are now 35 years of age, so could well be "too old" for Radio 1 by the time the next album comes out. Then again it depends if R1 are still using this ageism tactic in a few years time? Guess we'll have to wait and see. Edited October 17, 201313 yr by gavindeejay
October 17, 201313 yr The quote in the above post was what the playlist compilers actually said about Muse so they will struggle to get radio 1 support unless they appeal to the 15-29 age group whatever that means?

I think the Black Eyed Peas are all in their late 30s too, but I think Radio 1 will still playlist their comeback single (if they ever do another album).
October 17, 201313 yr What was the average age of U2 when Radio 1 last playlisted one of their songs? I can't remember if they were supported last era or not.
October 17, 201313 yr The Killers :cheer: So glad radio 1 is still on board with them. Gutted there's no Britney in sight, though :( I can't believe people in here still predict she'll go Top 20, I think Work Bxxch will do a Criminal, tbh

I think it'll get to #7. Edited October 17, 201313 yr by Silver Rocket
October 17, 201313 yr Get On Your Boots was playlisted iirc. Yea they did but I think it was only 'b'listed which was quite a shock for U2. I think they won't support the new album out next year they'll be radio 2 fodder now!
October 17, 201313 yr I think the Black Eyed Peas are all in their late 30s too, but I think Radio 1 will still playlist their comeback single (if they ever do another album). But the BEPs are a very different band to Muse which is important when appealing to radio 1s listeners.
