Whats the point of lady gaga releasing songs which will not be allowed to chart, just to get some preorders for artpop? Does she not care about her singles charting?

When you pre-order an album on iTunes, do they take the £7.99 straight away, or just 99p for whatever pre-order track is available?

She actually doesn't, she even plainly said that on Twitter the other day.

It charges for the single, but uses the "complete my album" feature for the rest of the album when it becomes available I believe. It IS available to buy without having to pre-order the album though. So I don't get why iTunes don't just give sales for the tracks which are purchased using that link as opposed to the pre-order link... (or at least for OCC to chase it up and allow it to chart)

So they are charging 99p everytime a new song becomes available?

If you decide to cancel your album pre-order, you may find you've already bought 4 or 5 songs  .

And what about those who use gift cards to pre-order albums - if they initially only charges you 99p, and another song becomes available, how do they charge you for that?

Very odd setup.

If that's the case, surely it means Venus (and any other song that they choose to release as a pre-order gift) will shoot to #1 with a big lead soon? That's a good way to guarantee a few iTunes #1s I suppose.

If One Direction (for example) had 200k iTunes album pre-orders, then theoretically, they should shoot to #1 with all their pre-order singles.

No wonder the OCC doesn't know how to handle these sales  .

Buying an album in 'parts' should not constitute 4 or 5 No 1 singles.

By this logic getting multiple #1s from pre-album singles shouldn't be allowed.

Buying 4 singles doesn't mean I'm going to buy the album.

Pre-ordering an album means I'm buying the album. It shouldn't mean an automatic 4 No1 singles too.

But you don't have to pre-order the album to buy these instant grat songs... if they were allowed to chart it would only count actual sales of the song, not pre-orders of the album. I don't think pre-orders of an album alone would ever amount to anywhere near enough for a #1 single anyway.

But with Lady Gaga's case last week, the cumulative pre-orders of the album from the past weeks had the song go straight to #1 on iTunes. Later in the week when it was only sales of the actual song, and new pre-orders of the album being counted, the song was #20-something. So the album pre-orders from before probably did make a big difference. Lady Gaga sells very well in albums, so I do think it's possible she could have 5,000-10,000 pre-orders, which would probably be enough to guarantee each song is an iTunes #1, especially combined with the genuine purchases of the song.

Lady Gaga was an absolute mess on the x factor, i couldn't stop laughing at how deranged she behaved and appeared

She's been a mess ever since she got famous a few years ago. It's like she thinks every day is Halloween.

Lady GaGa what are you doing? Lady GaGa STAHHHHHP!

:( 'Venus' is poo. Really cannot get into it at all. Thankfully she made the right decision to release DWYW as the next single.

She actually doesn't, she even plainly said that on Twitter the other day.

That's bizarre - if you don't care how much your music sells, WTF's the point of releasing it in the first place??
