Purely on "first listen" only then (literally rating as I listen to the tracks!):

06.0 'Aura'

02.0 'Venus' >> Seriously one of the worst things she's recorded for me! <<

07.0 'G.U.Y.'

08.0 'Sexxx Dreams'

06.0 'Jewels N' Drugs'

09.0 'MANiCURE'

10.0 'Do What U Want' >> Obviously not on first listen. But this is the best thing from this era so far. <<

06.0 'ARTPOP'

06.5 'Swine'

06.0 'Donatella'

06.0 'Fashion!'

06.0 'Mary Jane Holland'

08.5 'Dope'

11.0 'Gypsy'

09.0 'Applause'

'Gypsy' >>> EVERYTHING ELSE.

Overall. It's all a bit much to take in on first listen. Alot of the stuff (starting from 'ARTPOP' down to 'Mary Jane Holland') blend into one, for now. It's a good album, I'm just not loving it atm. But BTW took several listens for me to get used to!

07.5 Aura - The chorus is such a killer, but the verses let it down. Got a little old quickly too.

06.0 Venus - Pretty much the same with this, the chorus has really grown but the verses are diabolical. Production is all over the place still though, you can really tell she produced it herself.

08.5 G.U.Y. - Production is wonderful, the verses are actually a bit stronger than the chorus on this one, but over all I love it.

07.0 Sexx Dreams - Nice chilled out vibe but I don't get the hype and why so many people think it has a great chorus, it's nothing special to me.

05.0 Jewels N Drugs - I don't actually hate this, the production is really rather good, just Gaga's vocals are rather cringeworthy.

08.0 Manicure - Would have been an 8.5 or even a 9.0 if they hadn't removed the 'heal me...' parts from the chorus. Its a great catchy pop song, personally think it would make a great single choice.

09.0 Do What U Want - I don't think this is one of her best by any stretch of the imagination, as some others were saying, but it is a great second single choice, is so catchy and has a great vibe.

07.0 Artpop - It is nice to hear a less busy and a more simple production, which I think some songs are missing, but despite being quite catchy, it doesn't really offer anything else.

04.0 Swine - Very disappointed with this. I really liked it at the iTunes festival but in studio form it just doesn't work. The production is rather horrible.

06.5 Donatella - Lyrically awful and the chorus is a bit all over the place, but I still quite like it, I think it might be the production and overall silliness of it all.

06.0 Fashion! - This left me a bit cold. It was okay but I didn't really have any opinion on it. The production at the end was a bit over the top.

07.5 Mary Jane Holland - The production is a bit all over the place here too, but it has such a strong hook and has something rather likable about it. Think it will grow to be a favourite.

05.0 Dope - Rather liked this at the iTunes festival but her vocals on the final version are really irritating and ruin it. Definitely not a stand out.

11.0 Gypsy - IN LOVE. Should have been the comeback single, its like 'The Edge Of Glory' by more fun, more mad and far better. Wonderful. Possibly the best thing she's recorded since 'Judas'.

07.5 Applause - Was a good single choice, was rather commercial and accessible, but did it ever WOW me? No. Good song, nothing to rave about.

Overall, a very patchy effort, has nothing on The Fame Monster or Born This Way, however 'Gyspy' almost makes up for that on it's own and there are some other highlights.

Pretty sure I'm gonna end up thinking that Gypsy does not live up to the love most of you are giving it.

If you like "Edge of Glory" you'll like this basically

08 | Aura (would be a 10 w/o those terrible lyrics)

07 | Venus

06 | G.U.Y.

10 | Sexx Dreams

03 | Jewels N Drugs

08 | Manicure

11 | Do What U Want

08 | Artpop

10 | Swine

02 | Donatella

03 | Fashion

09 | Mary Jane Holland

06 | Dope

06 | Gypsy

05 | Applause

06 Aura

01 Venus (up from a 00 on previous listen!)

04 G.U.Y

02 Sexxx Dreams

03 Jewels n' Drugs (the raps are the best part and they're pretty shit raps)

07 Manicure (some great vocal moments FINALLY)

07 Do What U Want (I didn't really like this initially, but hearing bits of it has worked it into my head)

08 Artpop (vocals let it down but I know the production will robot its way into my brain)

06 Swine

06 Donatella

05 Fashion!

04 Mary Jane Holland

03 Dope

08 Gypsy (best moment quite easily, still let down by the production)

07 Applause

The middle stretch is solid, but there are quite a lot of moments that sound promising but are just ruined by totally atonal vocals and wild production. I actually found much of it quite unpleasant to listen to.

09 | Aura [initial listen was 07, has grown a lot since then!]

10 | Venus [initial listen was a 02 WTF moment, but now I'm addicted]

08 | G.U.Y.

09 | Sexxx Dreams [if it was similar to the live version, would have been an easy 10, challenged for 11]

09 | Jewels N Drugs

06 | MANiCURE

11 | Do What U Want [initial listen was 11, very instant track and amazing]

05 | ARTPOP

05 | Swine

07 | Donatella

04 | Fashion

06 | Mary Jane Holland

07 | Dope

08 | Gypsy

08 | Applause [initial listen was 08, nice enough but shouldn't have been lead single. Although it has helped claw back airplay in the US, so...]

Jewels and drugs needs more bass.

Manicure is ruined. Can you feel it part after the chorus needs to go and be replaced by the heaaaalll meeeee cause im addicted to love (MANCURE)

08 Aura

08.5 Venus

08 G.U.Y.

09 Sexxx Dreams

02 Jewels and Drugs (hideous, worst thing she has ever released tbh)

08.5 MANiCURE

10 Do What You Want (ft. R Kelly)

10 ARTPOP

10 Swine (am I alone in LOVING this? It should by all means be a total mess but I love it!)

11 Gypsy

10 Applause

02 Sexxx Dreams

DEAD TO ME.

07.5 'Aura' - I still see this as a bit of a joke, but it's enjoyable enough. Some neat production and a relatively strong chorus.

08.0 'Venus' - I enjoy the campness and the sheer ridiculousness of it (PENIS), but a single it most certainly is not. I'm really glad they decided against it, but as an album track it's good.

08.0 'G.U.Y.'

11.0 'Sexxx Dreams' - For me the best thing she has done since 'Bad Romance'. Electrifying.

00.0 'Jewels N' Drugs' - Utter turd, what was she thinking? An ill-conceived attempt to get hip-hop fans on board?

08.0 'MANiCURE' - I was expecting this to be pushing a 9 or 9.5, so I'm a bit disappointed. The diction is AWFUL, can anyone even understand what she's saying in the chorus?

09.0 'Do What U Want' Sublime track, properly clicked with me now and very different for her. I think she should count her lucky stars for this, it'll keep her career afloat nicely for now. I think it could even push for a 10 over time.

07.0 'ARTPOP' - Repetitive chorus which really grated on me by the end of it.

08.5 'Swine' - Pretty marvellous! The only negative is how overproduced it is.

06.0 'Donatella' - This only gets its score for the production alone, everything else about it is horrific! Especially the line about asking your gay friends if you should get a spray tan on holiday.

06.5 'Fashion!' - Washed over me somewhat. Fashion >>>>>> Fashion!, by a few thousand miles.

06.0 'Mary Jane Holland' - I can see why this is compared to 'Bloody Mary', however it's a bit weak and plodding.

06.0 'Dope' - I don't like her ballads at all really, this is probably the least bad one yet. I liked it a bit more at the iTunes performance.

08.0 'Gypsy' - This is solid, I think it'll grow on me more.

05.0 'Applause' - Weak as piss really, with one of the most limp and disappointing choruses ever. Her worst single for me now.

It's nowhere near as good as Born This Way for me overall which blew me away on the first listen, but there's some good stuff on here and I think I'll appreciate it more when I let it settle.

I find some of the overproduction and excessive shouting a bit much, plus some of the lyrics but it's a decent enough effort. ^_^

It will take me a while to get my first impressions going as I don't have a lot of time to listen to it, but from the songs I've heard so far:

10 - Lady GaGa - Gypsy - You're right y'all, just like Edge of Glory!

11 - Lady GaGa - G.U.Y - Amazing!! Should've been the comeback single.

09 Lady GaGa - Applause - Good enough, I enjoy it.

-1 (Doesn't deserve a rating) Lady GaGa Venus - No comment. :Where has the poo smiley gone??This will have to do to convey my no comment. :moira:    :tirren: :puke: :puke: :puke:

09 Lady GaGa - Do What You Want - A little unexciting, but a solid 9/10 pop toon.

Venus is the best song she has ever done, along with Judas.

Oh now I KNOW you didn't just use a gif of a basic bitch on me!!!

Anyway, the song is trash. One of the worst I've ever heard. Appalling. Nonsensical. Tuneless. Embarrassing.

I do think 'Venus' would be looked upon more fondly if it wasn't almost a single, I like the track but as a single it would have been an unimigated disaster for her.
No, I think it is terrible, single or not. The fact they considered it as a single just makes it a joke.

IN LOVE WITH THIS.

A big step backwards from Born This Way as far as I'm concerned. The 5s and below are all ones that I can't really recall a thing about immediately after the track has finished playing... it's all over the place in terms of structure but at the same time manages to almost be boring due to there being precious little difference between the stylings of the songs. Maybe it will grow.

A few more plays in and we're more like...

Get rid of the four tracks below 05 and actually it's quite an ok pop album. The title track in particular has really grown on me.
