November 8, 201311 yr NEW (LEGITIMATE) CONTENDER: 985tgLykZrs Just a teaser for now, but I can see hype surrounding this! And I'm all for it, as it seems to be a fairly bizarre Christmas song
November 8, 201311 yr Have they actually said that the XF song will be released in time for the Xmas No.1? Have we got a release date as yet?
November 8, 201311 yr I don't think an ACTUAL Christmas song has been #1 since like 1985? 2004 - Band Aid 20 - Do They Know It's Christmas? Although if you're not counting that due to a re-release and also cos of it being more about the famine in Africa rather than actual Christmas, then the last bona fide Christmas song to be #1 at Christmas was 'Saviour's Day' by Cliff Richard in 1990. The Darkness came close in 2003 though. Edited November 8, 201311 yr by mango
November 8, 201311 yr NEW (LEGITIMATE) CONTENDER: 985tgLykZrs Just a teaser for now, but I can see hype surrounding this! And I'm all for it, as it seems to be a fairly bizarre Christmas song  Oh God I can actually see that being a big Mr Blobby style hit if the hype kicks in! Can't see it selling more than the 200k+ copies the XF record will sell on Christmas week though. Have they actually said that the XF song will be released in time for the Xmas No.1? Have we got a release date as yet? Yes, see the link in the first post.
November 8, 201311 yr I'd sooner see the X factor winner (if it's a decent act / decent cover) get it for charity than another one-week wonder like the Justice Collective we had last year. I'm all for the T10 being dominated by 'Christmas' songs by Leona, Kelly and Lily Allen though. Rihanna at 33/1 is comical given we don't even know if she's releasing anything!
November 8, 201311 yr X Factor to re-enter Christmas No.1 race Source: MW by Tom Pakinkis The X Factor winner’s single will be released during the Christmas No.1 sales week in 2013 meaning the show will once again be a part of the chart race after a two year absence. The Official Charts Company has confirmed that the winner’s single will go on sale immediately after the 2013 show final on Sunday, December 15 – the start of the Official 2013 Christmas No.1 sales period. Now in its 10th year, X Factor has claimed five of the last eight Official Christmas No.1s but missed the chart battle in both 2011 and 2012 when respective winners Little Mix and James Arthur’s singles were released two weeks before the Christmas No.1 reveal. While both reached No.1, they were overtaken by charity efforts The Military Wives’ Wherever You Are and The Justice Collective’s Hillsborough-dedicated cover of He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother in time for Christmas. The X Factor's unbeaten run of Christmas No.1s first came to an end in 2009 when Joe McElderry's cover of The Climb was kept off the top spot after a social media campaign to get Rage Against The Machine’s 1993 single, Killing In The Name, to No.1 was successful. The show took the Christmas title the following year, however, with Matt Cardle's When We Collide.
November 8, 201311 yr My youth group is raising money and so we are releasing a cover of 'Silent Night' on 1st December *shameless self-promo*
November 10, 201311 yr Nice signature DiscoLove :) And in other news the 'anti-X Factor' brigade are getting a campaign going for an AC/DC track to be Christmas number 1. Forgotten which one now but saw on Twitter yesterday. Having heard Lily Allen's cover of Keane now though I should like that to be #1. Or Big Reunion.
November 10, 201311 yr I don't think I could stomach a cover of IWICBCE getting to number 1 when Wizzard could only manage #04 :( Really? I could have sworn they did...
November 10, 201311 yr Really? I could have sworn they did... No, Slade were at No.1 with Merry Xmas Everybody and Gary Glitter still selling strongly at No.2. :o
November 10, 201311 yr I'd love to see the sales that week. I think I heard that Slade sold 500k in its first week, although that was probably shipping.

November 14, 201311 yr The campaign tracks are old news, just turns into a classic rock record ending up top 20! Better than a random dance/pop song being in the Top 20 I suppose.
