Have they actually said that the XF song will be released in time for the Xmas No.1? Have we got a release date as yet?

I don't think an ACTUAL Christmas song has been #1 since like 1985? :unsure:

Although if you're not counting that due to a re-release and also cos of it being more about the famine in Africa rather than actual Christmas, then the last bona fide Christmas song to be #1 at Christmas was 'Saviour's Day' by Cliff Richard in 1990. The Darkness came close in 2003 though.

Oh God I can actually see that being a big Mr Blobby style hit if the hype kicks in! Can't see it selling more than the 200k+ copies the XF record will sell on Christmas week though.

I'd sooner see the X factor winner (if it's a decent act / decent cover) get it for charity than another one-week wonder like the Justice Collective we had last year.

 

I'm all for the T10 being dominated by 'Christmas' songs by Leona, Kelly and Lily Allen though. Rihanna at 33/1 is comical given we don't even know if she's releasing anything!

The X Factor winner’s single will be released during the Christmas No.1 sales week in 2013 meaning the show will once again be a part of the chart race after a two year absence.

 

The Official Charts Company has confirmed that the winner’s single will go on sale immediately after the 2013 show final on Sunday, December 15 – the start of the Official 2013 Christmas No.1 sales period.

 

Now in its 10th year, X Factor has claimed five of the last eight Official Christmas No.1s but missed the chart battle in both 2011 and 2012 when respective winners Little Mix and James Arthur’s singles were released two weeks before the Christmas No.1 reveal.

 

While both reached No.1, they were overtaken by charity efforts The Military Wives’ Wherever You Are and The Justice Collective’s Hillsborough-dedicated cover of He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother in time for Christmas.

 

The X Factor's unbeaten run of Christmas No.1s first came to an end in 2009 when Joe McElderry's cover of The Climb was kept off the top spot after a social media campaign to get Rage Against The Machine’s 1993 single, Killing In The Name, to No.1 was successful.

 

The show took the Christmas title the following year, however, with Matt Cardle's When We Collide.

I don't think I could stomach a cover of IWICBCE getting to number 1 when Wizzard could only manage #04 :(

I've heard that they had huge sales the week just before Christmas and Glitter too who had already been No.1. Can't remember who was at No.3. but Wizzard were No.4.

Here is the top 30 notice another classic Step into Christmas by Sir Elton only peaked at 25, and that was in his prime!!

I hear Boyzone have an ITV special on friday 13/12. That could make them favourites for the xmas no1 album alhtough they will probably have another special on the sunday evening - these usually help artists sell alot that week!

 

Anyone know any other xmas tv specials dates - the Elvis one was the start last wekeend!
