I voted for "Katy Perry". If everyone's albums had the eccentric-ness of some of Gaga's songs I'd be put off massively.

I think I would have struggled to choose more if it wasn't for Katy's latest era. I never took to 'Roar' and 'Unconditionally' just grates on me so much it's unreal. I haven't been mad keen on this ARTPOP era either, but at least I enjoyed 'Applause'.

In terms of other songs from previous eras, Katy's released some real solid gems, especially 'Teenage Dream', 'E.T.', 'Hot N' Cold', 'I Kissed A Girl' 'Firework' etc, and 'Paparazzi' is probably one of my favourite songs ever, but saying that, I don't listen to her past hits all that much.

I do like the dark depth in a lot of Gaga's songs and I often find Katy Perry's music a little too basic. I mean, 'Roar' sounds like it was written for five year olds IMO.

But I think I'm going to go for GAGA.

I am definitely more of a Katy Perry. I love simple songs, with catchy beats/hooks ect. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I find a lot of songs that try to be edgy and push boundaries are just shit.
I can't believe the amount of people who haven't understood what this topic is?!
easily a gaga. altho ironically katy perry's roar is one of my favourite songs of the year (yes i know what the topic is about) and when i DO like pure pop songs i go hard a la 'come & get it' (amazing!) so there's a definitely a katy streak in me.
I chose Katy. The more risky pop works when it works but it's far more hit and miss for me, whereas there's rarely a generic pop song I dislike.
GaGa has higher highs ("Bad Romance", "Telephone", "Paparazzi") and is a far better vocalist, but she is pretty inconsistent - I am liking the new single "Do What U Want" however. Perry is vocally very average and pretty inconsistent too. I don't love any of her songs, and I dislike a lot of them, "Roar" is pretty awful to my ears (one of the more overrated pop singles of the year) and "California Gurls" was so bad that I grew to hate her for a time in 2010 when she became inexplicably successful.
This isn't a "Katy Perry vs. Lady GaGa" outright "rivalry" topic. It's more based on you and your pop tastes.

Oh doctor bitch :((((

I am 100% a GaGa. Ain't nobody got time for safe pop music.
I'd say Katy Perry as generally my favourite songs are simple ballads and catchy pop tunes.

I've just never felt like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again. :(

Those are my pop tastes. I'd much rather listen to The Fame Mons†er than anything Katy Perry has recorded.

Gaga easily

Seen her 3 times, seeing her again at Jingle Bell Ball, camped outside venues for her, waited outside hotels to get close to her

No one compares to Gaga IMHO, music/personality/work ethic, the complete package

Or maybe you just haven't understood the amount of people using the example of Katy/Gaga's music to explain their choices?

Disliking what Lady Gaga is making does not mean you hate all "weird" music. You're reaching.

For once i agree with you

I love Gaga's music but i buy into the whole package, the personality, the fact she speaks out about what she believes in, the fact she is a workaholic, her outfits, the music is a very nice side issue
