December 16, 201311 yr Plus, as I said in the other thread, the chart announced on the 29th will hopefully have decent sales too (maybe 100k for the #1?) since it will have 3 Xmas shopping days going towards it. oops ignore post
December 16, 201311 yr Author oops ignore post  this week-15th- 21st next week- 22nd-29th end of the chart year, new chart year will start 30th although annual sales will count until the 31st
December 16, 201311 yr  Seriously now, how many chart weeks remaining for 2013? Xmas week should be the last of this year. It should be so even if Saturday was January 1st, not to mention a Wednesday January 1st. Regardless what I may believe, did the week following xmas count for the current years chart before? If there is only one week remaining 1D will have to sell at least 220k to get the no1 B-) In this case 1D could even finish 3rd behind Buble's 600k. (there is little chance of that happening though) If for some bizarre reason the week after xmas still counts they still need to do 150k-70k. How anyone could think that week between 22th and 29th december may be counted as a part of 2014
December 16, 201311 yr Would 1D not get a boost from gift card week? I know it's mainly about singles but I'm just thinking about all the girls who might get a gift card for xmas instead of a CD.

December 16, 201311 yr end of the chart year, new chart year will start 30th although annual sales will count until the 31st So if Emeli will sell more during chart year (30th December 2012-28th december2013) and 1D will sell more between 1st january and 31st december, who will be crowned as the best album seller
December 16, 201311 yr Looks like 1D are gonna do it over the next couple of weeks then :o Fantastic news :cheer:
December 16, 201311 yr Well if it's going to be anyone dethroning her I'm glad it's One Direction. Deserving, and definitely one of the best albums this year!

Deserving, and definitely one of the best albums this year! I still personally think Robbie might have an outside chance... I definitely think he'll be the Xmas #1, but he'll probably need to shift close to 200k this week, which might be too much of an ask in this sales climate.
December 16, 201311 yr Robbie *could* do it but he didn't outsell 1D by much this week and there's still quite a gap between their current sales, so I don't think he'll topple them.
December 16, 201311 yr I think Robbie has a small chance of overtaking Emeli and Bublé also has a (very) outside chance, but 1D pretty much have year end #1 in the bag. Nothing is coming even remotely close to 1 million though of course. Hopefully Take That will change that next year although their next album will probably not do as well as 'Progress' since it's not the big 5-piece reunion album (Robbie probably won't even be on it).

It now looks almost inevitable that One Direction will overtake Emeli, but then I realised that'd lumber them with the unwanted tag of 'Lowest best-selling album of the year for a long time' - I think I can live with that! :w00t:
December 19, 201311 yr One Direction sold 533k and Emeli around 660k, and they have 11 days to overtake Emeli, so they have to sell 12k copies per day more than Emeli, it's very possible.

December 19, 201311 yr OD had sold 483k to the end of last week - where did that 533k come from? Presumably from the most recent midweek sales.
December 19, 201311 yr Presumably from the most recent midweek sales. OK - but Emeli won't have sold zero of course... Edited December 19, 201311 yr by VidSanta
December 19, 201311 yr OK - but Emeli won't have sold zero of course... That's why the original poster said One Direction will have to sell 12k copies per day more than Emeli.
December 22, 201311 yr @officialcharts .@onedirection are now just 59,000 copies behind @emelisande in the race to score the biggest selling album of 2013: So One Direction have to sell almost 70k this week, it will be really close race.
December 28, 201311 yr So what do people think? Less than 24 hours for them to cross the line - with no mids this week it'll be a tough call... I think Emeli will scrape it!
