It could well be - according to UKMIX, the record as of 2009 was Band Aid 20's fall from 6-31 (a 25 place fall).

Thanks Eric maybe wasn't clear, but doesn't really 1. Explain the tesco bit? 2. I know digital is less of the volume at this time of year but why are people proportionally buying it in larger numbers digitally than physically esp. When she's an established predigital era act?

Pleased with the outcomes for both Gary Barlow and Olly Murs this week. Britney i feel charted where she deserved, from the material i have heard the album seems pretty poor, Britney needs to go back to her roots again and deliver solid pop songs.

It's just like a whole bunch of fake versions together. This is the same one that charted last year and there was a Halloween one that made the top 100 this year as well, though none of them have gone top 75 yet.

 

They chart almost entirely on download sales - Christmas Hits Collective are as high as #12 on iTunes.

Ah its that one. Yeah i remember it last yr. Id say a large propertion are downloaded by people thinking its a cheaper version of the now album and are gutted when they hear it, its happened to me before lol!!

Maybe it's because it was mostly fans that purchased the album this week (that would have bought it digitally or physically whatever it's release date almost immediately). It seems it's not reaching outside her core fanbase, otherwise it'd pick up 'gift' sales physically.
