Single & Album Summary

Looks like Lily could bag another week at #1 thanks to Luke Friend performing the track on the X Factor results show on Sunday, unless it starts trailing off at the end of the week where One Direction or Avicii could edge over her at the last minute. Other new single releases from Susan Boyle with Elvis Presley, Justin Bieber ft. Chance The Rapper, with Kid Ink ft. Chris Brown and Chase & Status earning themselves a new peak inside the top 40, and probably a late entry from Chloe Howl if she is chosen for The Critics Award on Thursday, and Charli XCX could just miss out on a top 40 entry.

As for the albums, One Direction, Robbie Williams & Gary Barlow are fighting for the top spot between them, there isn't anything new worth noting apart from Howard Shore The Hobbit soundtrack album. One Direction are probably looking at the Christmas #1 album they are performing on next week's X Factor's final weekend.

Just a reminder with Xmas just round the corner don't expect any mids for week beginning 23rd and the 30th December, normal services should resume after 6th January 2014. Please refer to the iTunes thread topic for those particular weeks.

Midweek Charts update: Robbie Swings ahead of One Direction

Source: MW

by Paul Williams

Robbie Williams has moved narrowly ahead of One Direction in a close battle to top this weekend's UK artist albums chart.

His Island album Swings Both Ways was by the end of Thursday around 1,200 sales ahead of the Syco boy band's Midnight Memories, which secured a second week at No 1 last Sunday and was leading during the early part of this week.

According to Official Charts Company data, sales of Swing Both Ways are up 44% on the week with the album clearly benefitting from BBC One last Friday evening broadasting One Night At The Palladium, featuring Williams and a cast of guests performing at the historic London venue. The album debuted at No 1 last month before being replaced by Midnight Memories the following week.

One Direction have now dropped to 2 in the latest Sales Flashes with Gary Barlow's Polydor set Since I Saw You Last holding at 3 but with sales up 31% on the week. Epic act Olly Murs' Right Place Right Time, which was re-issued a week ago in an extended version, holds at 4 as sales rise 83%, while two Michael Buble albums are now in the Top 10 following his performance on ITV's The X Factor last weekend. To Be Loved moves 19-5 with sales up 147% and fellow Reprise/Warner Bros release Christmas improves 10-6 with sales rising 45%.

Parlophone's Lily Allen continues to lead midweek singles with Somewhere Only We Know with Positiva/PRMD's Avicii up 8-2 with Hey Brother on the back of a 41% sales rise. Meanwhile, Syco's Leona Lewis could be heading for her highest charting single since Happy reached No 2 in 2009 with One More Sleep rising 34-3. Sales of the single, which she performed on The X Factor last week, are up 286%.

There are also big sales increases for Pharrell Williams' Happy on the Back Lot label (up 277%) and Warner Bros act Jason Derulo's Trumpets (up 65%) to move 30-6 and 12-7 respectively in the week to date.

NO SALES INFO

Leona has shot up the iTunes single chart since her X Factor performance, hoping her album gets a significant boost from it too coupled with it getting closer and closer to Christmas!

I think come Sunday it will be:

1 Lily Allen (with a slight sales increase from this week)

2 Avicii

3 Leona Lewis (pretty incredible result for her really)

4 One Direction (or they might finish above Leona, depending on how they hold up during the week)

5 Bastille or Ellie Goulding

I think This Morning & increasing airplay will mean Leona could maintain her position -

1) Avicii

2) Lily Allen

3) Leona Lewis

4) One Direction

5) Ellie Goulding

Which day is Leona on This Morning?
Which day is Leona on This Morning?

She's doing Daybreak and This Morning on Friday, I believe. And Johnathan Ross on Saturday.

Really looking forward to see how Leona does this week, would be great to see her bag a top 5 on both charts!
just bought Leona's new album :cheer: hoping for great sales for it this week!
Have seen it posted on another forum that she's 3 and 6 in the singles and albums midweeks, but there's no source, so take that with a pinch of salt.

Oh my in the singles Leona is #3 in the mids with just 600 copies behind Ellie Goulding at #2 :o is on 10k, Lily is on sales of 16k, Avicii is 350 copies behind Leona and One D make up the rest of the top 5.

Only 3 new entries in the singles chart Justin Bieber, top 20, Susan Boyle and Charli XCX top 40, Charli just hanging by a thread inside the top 40.

As for the albums the top 4 is no change from last week One D on sales of 28,4k Robbie is just 250 copies behind One D, Gary Barlow is on 22k, #5 Michael Buble (Xmas album), Leona is #6 with sales of 10,3k,

Only 1 new entry in the album chart from Neil Young inside the top 40.

I can officially confirm this :P

:o WOW! Didn't expect that. She'll likely overtake Ellie, but then be overtaken by Avicii. Top 3 looks likely now if it can hold up!

Awesome for Leona! I'd take both #3 singles and #6 album at the end of the week :)

How on earth is One More Sleep ahead of Avicii though>??????!!!!

Well, Leona's been ahead of him on Amazon MP3 (#4 & #5, Avicii #6) & Google Play (Leona #1, Avicii #3). It is rather surprising though! She might even be able to get to #2 come Sunday if what she's selling on other websites is making up for Avicii's currently small lead on iTunes! Plus her promo at the end of the week. Argh, I'm getting excited just thinking about it! :cheer:

The leads on download sites other than iTunes must be playing a big factor then! :)

Lily is a shoe-in for #1 single then.

Mariah 1 sale ahead of Pogues.

Sales are going to be so low only 40k anyone?

Albums arent looking great either non of the top 3 are set to break 100k??

I don't wanna send Buzzjack into meltdown or anything but with all this promo she's got planned, is there a chance Leona could even challenge for, dare I say it, Number 1? :o
