Last year no. 4 sold 118k, if 1D will sell 118k, they will have 600k, and Emeli will be around 670, it will be extremely hard to catch Emeli by end of the year, unless this year no.4 will sell more than last, which isn't impossible.

There are two sales weeks left until the end of the year. So if 1D sell 100k both weeks then they should manage it. I'm just hoping that them dropping to #4 means their sales don't drop to less than 100k, but at Joseph said they've been selling well the last two weeks so hopefully this won't be the case!

So Leona's sold 13k-18k on today's mids?! That's awesome, she should definitely see a sales increase, as she sold 14.3k in Wednesday's mids last week. Hopefully she'll do 50k+.

 

Also great so see the album at #6! If the album holds on, it could potentially do 65-70k or higher (The same week last year the #6 did 100k, but I think this year sales will be down quite a bit)! :o

Maybe Beyonce could catch Robbie if a lot of parents rush out to buy her CD on Friday and Saturday. Plus her fans will probably want the actual CD too. It'd be phenomenal if Beyonce managed to bag an Xmas #1 album. Probably won't happen though.

 

If anything it will most likely fall, since downloads have less impact towards the end of the week in Xmas season (and even when her CDs arrive in shops, she's still the type of artist who would be more heavily weighted to downloads than mums and grannys favourites like Robbie and Gary Barlow).

Christmas week, and week after christmas it's a two different stories in christmas week there will be around 2 times better sale than week after.

10K separating no.1 and no.5 album is incredibly close...should get interesting update on update this week.

 

Did expect Gary and 1D to pick up because of their performances on the X Factor Final. Surprised Robbie didn't perform on Strictly or X Factor, his performance on Strictly this coming weekend will be too late to count for this weeks charts. But Olly being higher than Beyonce on just a re-packaged album?

Looking at the Thursday midweeks (22/12/05) Shane Ward had sold 313,000 copies to the end of Wednesday 21 December 2005, the first day his single was on sale (as a CD). The pre-Wednesday downloads were also included in that sale even though no physical product was on sale when the downloads were first available to buy. The 313k was made up of 257k CDs and 56k downloads, most of which were sold prior to the Wednesday though prior to that day none of his download sales totals were made public and his record was excluded from the chart until the actual CD was available to buy. Nizlopi were at number two on 80k and The Pogues at three on 24k.

 

For Steve Brookstein in 2004, his first day sale was 38k, well behind Band Aid 20 who sold 75k on the Sunday and Monday. The following day (sales to Tuesday night) Steve was up to 60k and sold 127k during the whole of the week. Band Aid 20 sold 231k to take the Christmas number 1.

But it wouldn't be the case if Beyoncé had CDs. A huge percentage of an artists album sales come from physicals. I think she'll be top. 3 come Sunday.
