Makes you wonder how well Loreen's album might have done if it weren't released so long after the contest. (Still managed #71 on release which wasn't bad at all but it looks like The Common Linnets will easily beat that).

It's a rather interesting battle on the album chart this week. The Black Keys vs Foxes and Michael Jackson. At the moment:

I'm actually surprised at Foxes being up there, I don't recall ever seeing her album in the top 200 on pre-orders. Definitely don't think she's in contention for the official #1 but it could be an interesting battle between The Black Keys and Michael Jackson.

I thought that Michael Jackson would be a sure-fire #1 with around 50k sales, but The Black Keys are doing very well. On Amazon, MJ is #3 and #27 and The Black Keys are #4. I still think MJ will make #1 (it did better on pre-orders too, not that much more than The Black Keys I don't think, but enough to put him ahead), although probably not on 50k, probably more closer to 30k.

Foxes' album was put up for pre-order right at the beginning of the year, so it's had a fair bit of time to build up the pre-orders for its high entry on iTunes today I think.

Foxes staying stable at #3 today. Thought it would fall really quickly! At this rate I think 15-20 k is possible??

Has anyone established how many sales EPs, download albums etc sell. We have Kworb for the singles and nothing for this - although I would estimate the new Coldplay album has sold around 50-70k at least which would be amazing for next week!

Did not expect Gary Barlow and Take That to be still so high.

Michael Jackson clearly less frontloaded than The Black Keys so I guess he has #1 in the bag, maybe The Black Keys will get there next time. Surprising to see Morrissey's album doing so much better than La Roux's on first day pre-orders.
