Well, I don't have a car to begin with hehe.

I'm much more into alternative and underground music to be nostalgic about some random mainstream old hits.

Which is all well and good for you but I just explained why people buy the compilations because you stated that you couldn't understand it.

I like getting albums as gifts and if I have something like an HMV/Play.com gift card, I will buy them physically. Though I will be honest and admit if there's album I NEED to listen to now, I will often look for it on Spotify
I still buy physical albums. I've bought a couple of download albums since iTunes started but not that many as I much prefer a physical copy of my media. Same applies for DVDs and I have a huge collection of CDs. Only time they really see daylight is if they get to grace the CD player in the car and that's pretty rare these days now that I have a USB port for my iPod.
When I was a bit younger, I had very little or no money to buy all the albums I wanted, so I would mainly download apart from acts I really liked. As I started earning my own money, I continued with the downloading and then went and bought if I liked it or when it was reduced. I did find though that it took away a lot of the surprise and excitement of buying a new CD album and listening to it for the first time, so I've cut back with downloads and buy more physicals now than I ever have done. I still can't resist downloading some albums before release though, even if I've pre-ordered.
I think judging by reading this thread it is down to a love/respect for an artist as to whether you buy a cd, download or illegally download. I know I'm the same, I'd never illegally download a Tori Amos song/album if I could buy the CD or download, but other artists I don't really give a jot about they really have to convince me more than ever these days to invest money into them.

Is an artists musical endeavour not enough reason to pay for their artistry?

So you would steal their product instead?

I've bought more CDs in the past 2 weeks than I have the whole year. Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams and Miley Cyrus. Previous to this the only CD I have bought this year is Lady GaGa.

And I probably won't listen to any of them beyond the first month of this year. I played GaGa once and was bored by it-maybe I just don't like music any more? I used to practically buy one CD per week!!

I always buy physical CD where possible. I'm not into downloading albums at all and also love buying CD singles when they are available. I still think its a shame they have largely stopped and feel downloading is far inferior. During this year, Ive bought significantly less albums in first 9 months due to lack of new releases that have interested me. However, I'd say Ive bought more albums in the last 3 months but some are reissues or remastered albums from 80s acts like Bananarama and Belinda Carlisle. I love buying remastered albums as they usually include unreleased tracks, b sides and remixes not previously available on CD.

What reissue did Belinda do? Dying with excitement! :P

I download everything now, films, music, tv series, etc). I don't by physicals of anything (well - apart from clothes of course!)
I stream music. What's downloading?

I've no bloody idea - one minute they're on my husband's tablet and the next they're on the TV ... then they're gone!

God I HATE Charity Dingle!

I do like a physical CD though. Saying that, the last couple of albums I've bought were from iTunes

Nice to have a choice

What put me off buying CD's is the only place I play them is in the car - and they still bloody jump (thanks largely to the bloody potholes in the roads - well I suppose if there's not enough money in the treasury to resurface them properly - it can't be helped).

Really? I've been playing CDs in the car for what must be tens of thousands of miles over the years, both urban and rural, motorways, A & B roads & Country Lanes, and can't think of one occasion where road conditions have made my CD skip

Try driving in Wigan then! Mind you - I suppose it could be something to do with the speed at which I head towards said potholes!

Kath drives around at 95mph in a Moris Minor so it is to be expected.

I myself still by CD's, I only bought around 20 or so this year - but have over 1,000 (mostly CD singles from the 2000s) - they are in a several wall cabinets in the lounge and take up far too much space. I still love the physical, going to the shop counter at Our Price (I'm old.. get over it), reading the booklet on the train home. The first *play*

Well you got the initial of the vehicle correct! Keep guessing! As Silas is being so tardy in putting up the bonus answers for the Xmas Family Fortunes - this can be a little game - what car does Mrs Kath drive? Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!

Yes I still buy CD albums, I have bought less this year, because I don't like all the music thats been out so why spend my money on something I don't like? I have bought more NOW albums over the past few years though
