G'won Idina *.* I'd love for 'Let It Go' to do a 'I Dreamed A Dream' and get a few weeks in the top 40.

What is with the Frozen songs taking such a long time to take off? Idina and Demi have been climbing up the chart for the last month and a third song from the soundtrack didn't enter the top 100 until last week.
Ouch at those album sales, thought Beyonce could've done another 25-30k easily this week, now that "Drunk in Love" is on the climb and "XO" is getting better support. Am more than happy to see Ellie Goulding hold a second week at the summit though, hoping Bruce Springsteen, You Me At Six, Katy B and Bombay Bicycle Club can all make use of the low sales climate; the latter three all coming for their first #1 album?
Well Katy B and Bombay Bicycle Club are out on the same week so it's highly unlikely they'd both get to #1 :P Bombay Bicycle Club might get #1 but I think Katy B will probably be low top 5 ish.

I'd love to see Katy B get number 1 considering her previous album was one of the unfortunate many blocked by Adele's 11-week reign of terror. I'd say with good promo she'll have a good chance at it this time. Regarding this week (and staying on topic) woo go Eliie :w00t:

You do realise it's Thursday today? :P

Haha I actually did have it in my head it was a Wednesday, sorry it's been a busy week at work!

If 'Crying for No Reason' isn't a success then there's no way Katy B will go to #1 in the albums, as much as I love her music and want her to make it.

Well, yes. Very few artists get #1 albums with floppy lead singles. Thankfully 'Crying For No Reason' does not look set to flop.

But she's still nowhere near as relevant as she was in 2011 so this will not be débuting with the 44k of On A Mission.

Ah that's right. Katy's first album was Brillant one of my fav pop albums of 2011!!
Sorry to continue the Katy B discussion but just read on Pitchfork that the album has been pushed back a week to Feb 10th. I would think this would improve her chances.

Midweek Charts update: Happy Pharrell targetting chart-topping return

Source: MW

by Paul Williams

Pharrell Williams looks likely to take the No 1 UK singles chart spot back off Pitbull this weekend as Ellie Goulding aims to continue to lead albums.

Williams' Happy was replaced at No 1 by fellow RCA-handled Timber by Pitbull featuring Kesha last weekend and at the beginning of this week it appeared Timber would triumph again as it initially led the Official Charts Company's midweek sales. However, since then the Nerd and Neptunes man has moved back ahead and has now increased his lead going into the weekend.

Postiva/PRMD act Avicii's Hey Brother and Warner Bros signing Jason Derulo's Trumpets hold at 3 and 4 respectively on the latest Sales Flashes, while 3 Beat/AATW's Fuse ODG climbs 14-5 with Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad).

On artist albums the final chart outcome is far more in the balance with Polydor act Ellie Goulding's Halycon ahead after reaching No 1 for the first time last Sunday. Its lead, though is only around 1,500 units as Beyonce's self-titled Sony album climbs 3-2. It swaps places with Gary Barlow's Polydor set Since I Saw You Last, which drops to 3, as Island act John Newman's Tribute lifts 5-4 and Bastille's Virgin debut Bad Blood is up 6-5.

Haim, meanwhile, are aiming to make a Top 10 return with their Polydor set Days Are Gone lifting 13-10 in the week so far.

I think Ellie has sealed another week at #1, her sales seem to be increasing on every update.

Well there you go, Happy has won the battle once again continuing the tedious weekly turnovers :(

I just hope Timber can be a long running hit to make up for the 1 week at no.1.

Pharrell has a 7K lead according to occ´s FB page

Queen Bey is still gunning for Ellie on the Official Albums Chart, while Pharrell looks set to regain his singles throne.

Remember when Beyoncé was in Destiny’s Child and sang that she was a Survivor? Well, she may have gone solo but she’s lost none of her appetite for a good scrap – she’s got Ellie Goulding’s Number 1 album crown in her sights.

Ellie’s second album Halcyon finally reached the top of the Official Albums Chart last Sunday after 65 weeks in the Top 75. But that reign at the top could be very shortlived. Coming up behind Ellie’s slow-burner is Beyoncé’s shock-and-awe fifth self-titled studio album, which the star released with little fanfare last month. According to Official Charts Company's latest sales data, just over 1,500 copies separate elfin Ellie and the queen of the divas, but who will claim victory when the Official Albums Chart is announced on Sunday?

Ellie’s got form for denying pop megastars the top spot – she kept Lady Gaga off Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart thanks to her huge hit Burn. Is the Independent Woman going to end up disappointed come Sunday, or will she smooth down her Freakum Dress and leave Ellie in a Halcyon daze? Be sure to tune in to BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart Show with Jameela Jamil and Dan And Phil this Sunday (January 12) to see who comes out on top.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, supercool Pharrell Williams’ New Year looks to be getting off to a great start. His former chart-topper Happy has pulled further ahead of last week’s Number 1, Timber from Pitbull and Ke$ha.

As we reported in Wednesday’s Official Chart Update, just over 1,000 copies separated the two tracks, but now the snake-hipped music producer has increased his lead over the nonstop party animals to almost 7,000 copies. Can the Florida rapper and his sassy sidekick have a late burst of energy and turn Pharrell’s Happy face into a second-place frown?

I'm happy to see Pharrell at number one, not a fan of Pitbull atall

Neither am I  I do find Timber an exception though. I don't know what's out next week otherwise I see Pitbarell being the top 2 once again depending on how well Shakira and Rihanna do.

Looks like 'Drunk In Love' will knock 'Do What U Want' out of the top 10 by Sunday. It's a shame both probably won't be top 10 this week!
