An entry to the Buzzjack Song Contest WILL be vetoed if it scores 22 points or more. Songs scoring 14 points or more will be discussed for potential vetoing.

----

It's mainly minor tweaks and a couple of additions. Artists will be permanently banned from BJSC once they've been entered 7 times, but other updates like that will appear in the updated rules which should follow over the next week. Whenever I get about three hours to write the new threads

Most importantly, the veto threshold has now been LOWERED to 22 Veto Points. Songs scoring 14 points will now be discussed for potential veto. This is also a lower target. We hope everyone is happy with the changes we have made, but feel free to let us know otherwise! ^_^

Hopefully this takes place this contest onwards!

Must admit that i'm loving the new veto framework!

Brilliant. :(

According to this my entry has 22 points, awaiting my PM. Unless they don't stack (i.e. similar rules (e.g. an UP song finishing top 5 obviously performed significantly well so is there a need for 19 points instead of 12?)).

They don't stack, you get the points of the highest related flag you hit. So an artist who has had a top 5 would only get 12 points for recycling and not the extra ten points that come with hitting the related yellow and orange flags.

Oh, happy days! Cheers for clearing that up.

Some good changes here! (even if it means my entry now scores 12 veto points :( )

Wait I just realised my confirmed artist's top 40 single(s) were not pre-2000. So I have no veto points :D

You would not have any veto points even if that artist had top 40 singles prior to 2000. This rule only applies to ancient songs like Jolene, as it's actually stated.

Could the 3-point category for personal chart support be changed to 2-3 personal charts? Because if you get veto points for it being in one chart then you can only get 0 veto points by not charting your own entry until after the contest :drama: (If you have a personal chart that is).

Would they not discount your own chart anyway though?

They are only given a list of songs, so they wouldn't know who submitted what (although it only being in one personal chart is probably a good clue).

If your entry is getting three points and only three points then you are in absolutely no danger of a veto. Given that the only people who ever see it are the moderators the scores given are absolutely irrelevant for entries below 14 points and only relevant for those over 14 points in the event of a veto.
  • Author
And yes, we have no participant information so it's impossible for us to discount just one personal chart because while it could be the participant, it might not be. We're not psychic. It is reasonable to say that the 1 personal chart it is in is not the same person that entered it and it thus gives an indication of the level of knowledge on buzzjack.
Yeah I think it's silly cause people could end up pushing their own entry over 14 or 22 veto points just by charting it themselves, no?

3 points doesn't actually make much of a difference in the slightest. If 3 points sends it over 22 points the chances of it getting vetoed anyway are around 99.99% As for just being pushed over 14 points, it'll need to have had a 12 pointer or a 7 and 2 three pointers which would have put it on our radar regardless. (We stated in the original framework that anything getting a 12 we would look at even if it didn't hit the threshold.)

If you're so concerned about your chart (which we can't tell anyway) putting a song over the 22 point limit; it's getting axed regardless of those 3 little points.

If you're concerned about your chart putting over 14 points then we will have probably already looked at it and it's very likely to be safe (chance of veto ~5-15%)

Well if, say, 20 points is 99.9999% veto situation then why is the official barrier still 22 points then?

From now on (if I am not lazy enough to post my chart which I 70% of the time am) I shall probably be disguising the entry in the chart. Oops
