I thought it was a rather good way to end it with all three children showing signs of growing up. It was all quite sweet really
Yes, that would have been a suitable ending as a significant moment in a family's development. OTOH, the whole series was building up to Spartacus and so the timing would not have been right. The school production wouldn't be in late September / early October which would have been the time Jake went to university.

I agree... maybe a 5 months later?

TBH I'd love them to do a spin-off in ten years time. To see what the kids are like grown up.

I see Karen as some raving feminist at the head of a political party.

I think the way Karen has grown up and become mature was fitting for the ending. It would've been nice to see Jake go off to university too. But I agree it didn't really have a proper ending. It just ended.

Now there's an idea

But it ended with the family more united than they had ever been and with the children running things in a more coherent and constructive way - Jake sorting out Auntie Angela and Karen sorting out Ben's nerves.. That's why I thought it was rather sweet.

Outnumbered is returning for a Christmas special this year to see how the lives have changed. It is hoped that they will return every two years or so to continue seeing the development of the lives.

I'll wait to see what the episode is like but my initial thought is that they just need to let this die! :drama: The humour largely came from the ages of the children which resulted in a more lackluster final series as the children were all grown up and aware of what they were doing.

They should leave it about 10 years until the kids have had kids.

I remember watching a lot of episodes of this show and I LOL'ing at it

Pete: "You were specifically told 'no fighting, no swearing, and no drinking alcohol', and I caught you bashing that kid's head on the floor shouting 'Don't touch my bloody beer!'" LMAO

And I remember the episode where the parents restart the family computer after it crahsed, only to find a nude pic on it.

I thought the special was quite funny in places, especially the political jokes. I'm still not sure it was needed though but maybe it will be fun if it returns every Christmas or so.
I'm watching the Christmas special now, still enjoy it but never thought it was as good when the kids got a bit older, interested to see this episode though
