Hurrah for DJ Fresh at #2! :cheer: A third week of six figure sales for Clean Bandit please.
Within Temptation *.* hope they can hold onto top 10. The Unforgiving ended up at #23 so if it can outpeak that i'll be happy.

Thought you'd be happy. :D

I'd never have expected them to be #2, even on the first update and the low album market! Very pleased indeed though, would be nice if it could make 10k.

Yay for DJ Fresh at #2 :D He'll probably end up at #3 officially but that's still good! By the way does anyone know why Rihanna 'What Now' is back in the top 20? It seems random that it's having such a boost

Clean bandit are on course for 100k and Pharell is only 2 percent ahead so he will only gain about 2k on DJ fresh. Meaning he will still be in front

Rather Be was on 34k last Tuesday in the mids so could do 100k again unless it slows up alot - but there was a BB spring board which would have helped!

William was on 44k last Tuesday but will have had probabaly more preorder hypes than DJ Fresh and he only did 97k through the week so im not sure what Dibby will do - probabaly around 75k!

I'm still amazed how well Clean Bandit are doing! Another 33k already this week so hopefully it should clear 50k in tomorrow's update so its looking good for another 100k which would be incredible!

I can't decide what to make of Bombay Bicycle Club being on 9.6k, obviously they will finish over 30k but those sales are just awful

Yay for DJ Fresh at 2 though it will fall to 3 by Sunday but as long as it stays top 3 for Sunday ill be happy

Clean Bandit look safe to spend a third week over 100k then, fabulous. Could see them getting a fourth week at #1 next week as well unless Zedd can pull it off (but I don't think he will if Gorgon City and DJ Fresh couldn't, even though Clean Bandit's sales will be lower).

Bombay Bicycle Club aren't as far ahead as I thought but I think they'll still get #1 now, looks like Avicii will climb back to #2 ahead of Ellie (but Ellie should get back ahead after the BRITs). Shocked to see Maxïmo Park in the top 5 but I'm sure they'll drop out of the top 10 by the end of the week.

Bombay probably won't make 30k, You me @ 6 had higher first kids sales last wk & only just passed that Mark. They will sell around 20-22k! Least it'll still be no 1!

yes but thats because ym@6 have the tightest fanbase ever. everyone brought it on the first day.

like how lived a lie shot to number one on the itunes chart and was out of the top 40 in like 4 days.

You appear to be forgetting that DJ Fresh will inevitably drop through the week. Pharrell will be far more than 2% ahead by Saturday...

Last week Pharrell was 10k behind Gorgon City if I remember well and in the end he was higher.

actually so far pharell has dropped more as when dj fresh levelled out pharrell was still 5% above, dj fresh has actually closed the gap :P

yes but gorgon city was behind him about 12% not 2% lol

yes but gorgon city was behind him about 12% not 2% lol

What? This doesn't make sense.

Edit: ah ok, on iTunes, well Gorgon City was in front of Pharrell Monday and early Tuesday, whilst DJ Fresh was never in front of Pharrell. Pharrell will get a boost towards the end of the week as always, so the gap will be bigger by Thursday/Friday. Still it will be a close race.

Yeah, hoping DJ fresh can pull ahead though.

Will Westlife chart this week? Is it an official release? I don't think any shops are even selling it?

Its a budget album so won't chart in the main chart

Midweek Charts: Bombay Bicycle Club pedalling to No 1

Source: MW

by Paul Williams

Bombay Bicycle Club look like achieving their first ever UK No 1 album with So Long See You Tomorrow currently leading the midweeks.

The Island band's fourth album is presently outselling its nearest rival by more than two copies to one, according to the Official Charts Company, while on singles Clean Bandit should secure a third week at No 1.

Bombay Bicycle Club have to date visited the UK Top 10 twice, reaching No 8 in 2010 with Flaws and No 6 in 2011 with A Different Kind Of Fix, all without ever having a Top 40 single. This remains the case with the new album with introductory track Carry Me having only risen as high as No 81, although follow-up Luna is new at 73 in the midweeks.

Independent Dramatico will follow Katie Melua and Carlo Emerald by having another act break the UK Top 10. The latest are Dutch rock band Within Temptation, whose sound is described as "symphonic metal" and who are new at 2 in the week to date with Hydra. This is their sixth studio album with their previous effort, 2011's The Unforgiving, having provided them with a new chart peak of No 23 in the UK.

There are three other brand new albums among the Top 10 positions at this stage of the week, led at No 6 by Maximo Park's new set Too Much Information. The group's fifth album and issued on the Daylighting label, it is aiming to become the group's third Top 10 hit and follows The National Health, which reached No 13 in 2012.

US rock duo Broken Bells, who comprise Danger Mouse and The Shins' lead singer James Mercer, are new at 7 with their second Columbia album After The Disco, while UK folk man Seth Lakeman's first Cooking Vinyl offering Word Of Mouth is new at 9.

You Me At Six last Sunday gave the new BMG its first ever No 1 album with Cavalier Youth, but it drops to No 8 in the midweeks with sales falling 84%. Postiva/PRMD act Avicii climb 4-3 with True, Polydor's Ellie Goulding is down 2-4 with Halycon and the RCA-handled Beyonce self-titled album is down 3-5. Sophie Ellis-Bextor completes the Top 10 with Wanderlust on the EBGB's label declining 5-10.

Following his Super Bowl set, Atlantic act Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox lifts 32-17 with sales up 86%, while five places below it Suzanne Vega is heading for her first charting album in the UK since 1996 with the Cooking Vinyl-handled Tales From The Ream Of The Queen Of Pentacles. There are also brand new entries in the Top 40 from Augustines via Votiv and Universal's Caroline operation, Rhino with a Tina Turner compilation amd Nuclear Blast's Behemoth.

Atlantic act Clean Bandit have now surpassed 300,000 UK sales of their single Rather Be, which has a lead of more than 10,000 sales in the midweeks and should secure a third week at No 1 this Sunday. Directly below the track, which features Jess Glynne, is Ministry of Sound act DJ Fresh who is a new entry at No 2 with Dibby Dibby Sound featuring Jay Fay and Ms Dynamite. It should easily become his fifth UK Top 10 hit.

Dibby Dibby Sound is the only brand new release to make the Top 40 at this point in the week, although several have climbed into this part of the chart, including Def Jam/Virgin EMI act Rihanna who is up 53-20 with What Now.

RCA-handled Happy by Pharrell Williams holds at 3 as Interscope/Polydor act will.i.am drops 2-4 with Feelin' Myself featuring a multitude of names including Miley Cyrus and Wiz Khalifa. Another RCA track, Timber by Pitbull featuring Kesha, is back up 6-5, while Virgin act Gorgon City are down 4-6 with Ready For Love featuring MNEK and Rinse/Columbia's Katy B drops 5-7 with Crying For No Reason. RCA's Neon Jungle lose a place to No 8 with Braveheart as Interscope/Polydor's OneRepublic move into the Top 10 with If I Lose Myself and Positiva/PRMD's Avicii is down 8-10 with Hey Brother.

The Top 40's biggest sales gainer is RCA act Shakira's Can't Remember To Forget You featuring Rihanna. It rises 38-15 with sales improving 233%.

So at the point Beyonce may end up peaking at #2 on the albums chart. Album has been a monster in the U.S. and is def. doing better worldwide than the last one but, like I said, she just may not get #1 in the UK. Even though all the rave has been about the 'execution' of the album, I don't think the singles have been that great. Could happen I guess if she does a major performance and has a hotter 3rd single though dunno if there is one (I haven't heard/read of people universally hoping for one or two specific songs for single #3).
