May 7, 201411 yr People keep laughing at me when I say I think we'll win this year. :( They pull out the 'politics' card, I pull out the Jade Ewen card. They have no time for my justification. :(
May 7, 201411 yr The best thing being that this is literally the last year we'd win under the (frankly absurd) 'IT'S ALL POLITICAL!!!!!' theory.
May 7, 201411 yr Good points! This is shaping up to be the most exciting ESC in years. And Molly will do very well for sure.
May 7, 201411 yr Good article on this years betting odds and Molly's chances - I'm scared to think that we can finish Top 5 let alone win after so many years in the wilderness! http://metro.co.uk/2014/05/06/betting-mark...14-win-4718683/
May 7, 201411 yr The Netherlands is arguably my personal worse entry this year, I really cannot abide country music or anything with a country twang to it. I honestly couldn't handle it if they won!!! I think it looks all the more better for the UK! Armenias performance was a bit lacking, he didn't seem to own the stage I thought.
May 7, 201411 yr Questioning whether or not to withdraw all my liabilities and put it ALL ON MOL Wise choice - I have 3 different bets on her now  I just listened to all the songs again I really think this could just be our year, Trying not to get too excited about it though!
May 7, 201411 yr The UK have switched places with Ukraine and are now 5th according to oddschecker :(
May 7, 201411 yr Author It's so close at the top it doesn't really matter. Once the final draw is released on Friday then we'll start seeing some bigger changes I think.
May 7, 201411 yr The UK have switched places with Ukraine and are now 5th according to oddschecker :( It's more the odds than the placing that matter.
May 7, 201411 yr I'm glad I put a little extra on R MOL early last week given the odds now (and the strong feeling she WILL DO IT)
May 7, 201411 yr I'm gonna predict - 1. Sweden 2. Armenia 3. Ukraine 4. United Kingdom 5. Hungary 6. Netherlands 7. Norway 8. Azerbaijan 9. Denmark 10. Greece Would love Austria to be top 10 but I think Conchita will come 11th, and I just don't somehow see the UK being top 2, I just have a feeling it'll be anywhere between #3-6
May 7, 201411 yr I still don't quite feel the HYPE around Children Of The Universe that everyone else is seeing. Where is she in the iTunes charts? I know she hasn't performed yet but even Twin Twin and Elaiza are doing fairly well in a lot of countries already. I would dearly love the UK to win but a few other songs look like they have more of a chance at this moment in time. If Molly DOES win, I think it'll be because she's come something like 2nd on the jury vote and 3rd on the televote or something and combined it puts her above different winners of each category.

Twin Twin are #30 on the Swedish iTunes charts and that's about IT! And that's almost certainly just because of Infor Eurovision... So far as I know Elaiza's actually started getting radio play in German-speaking countries like Austria and Switzerland, so that'll explain that.
May 7, 201411 yr Plus, without radio play there aren't really many precedents for Eurovision songs becoming genuine hits before they've been performed. Isn't it basically just Euphoria and (maybe) Satellite?
May 7, 201411 yr Author I suppose iTunes isn't everything as I guess 'Running Scared' didn't do particularly well on iTunes before the week seeing as it didn't after the final? And seeing as this contest is most comparable to 2011 out of the recent contests it'll be definitely very interesting!
May 7, 201411 yr Well we'll see but I'm surprised by the blanket win predictions for the UK. I'm more patriotic than most but hideous memories of Blue's surefire top two landing us in 11th keep coming back to haunt me. (and that WAS a big European hit! Granted Molly is much bigger jury fodder than Blue but I do wonder how well she'll do with the televoting).

Songs have only started to do well once they have been performed... Molly hasn't performed yet hence the lack of iTunes action. In the few countries she is charting its on the back of 0 promo as she only visited 2 countries on her ESC promo trip.
May 7, 201411 yr Even Satelite hadn't hugely broken out of Austria and Switzerland I don't think (I'm sure somebody can dig out some stats for me on that). The crucial thing here is that the vast majority of people watching on Saturday won't even so much as watched the Semi Finals. It'll come down to who can nail it on Friday & Saturday and the running order, both of wich are unknown quantities until after song 26 is performed.
May 7, 201411 yr Blue were a bit unfortunate really, whereas all the things that needed to happen to pave the way for Molly have (second half draw, main competitors in first half etc). I'm not saying it's a sure thing, but right now I'm struggling to see anyone else who has that big a winning feeling about them.
