It amazes me how quickly moved from Russia hypothetically friendly countries aspiring to civilized values, completely reborn prototype of the USSR.

True, and that is why there should be a referendum to vote on whether Crimea should remain part of Ukraine or return to Russia. A DEMOCRATIC vote, not bullying and the threat of military action.

Besides Russian, live there and Ukrainians and Tatars. What happened to them? You do not consider that their rights have been violated now?

Think we should just repeat what Russia have done to Crimea with that little bit of Russia that's at the heart of the baltic states and see how they like it.

Don't get me wrong, what I think Russia (the country I live in, unfortunately) did is absolutely disgusting (as is seen from my previous comments) but what rights have been violated exactly? I believe Doctor Blind meant that it should all be done in a CIVIL democratic way without military intervention and intimidation. If there's a democratic vote and Crimeans choose to be part of Russia then there's nothing anyone can do or about against it really.

If all held democratically, as for example in Scotland, there are no issues. But in fact talking about the mythical Russian oppression in the Crimea, and then oppresses other nations.

What amazes me most is that Russia so easily severed all political ties with civilization.

It doesn't surprise me at all, as this is what that could freeze the current political order for quite a while. Putin is a guard of oligarchic regime which has appeared during the Perestroika when loads of people simply stole the former USSR property for themselves. That's why Russia is the second country in the world by the amount of billionaires, yet we are only at #48 by the GDP per person. When the gap between rich and poor is too big the social pressure is straining, and the governors need to direct that pressure to something else. That's why we recently had repressions towards Georgia (2008), opposition (2012), LGBT (2013), now it's the Crimea and "our own world without there western bast*rds" idea (2014 - ...).

 

People need to be distracted from the massive social problems to make sure that the government can live in peace with their stolen wealth.

A shocking story coming out of Ukraine: pro-Russian separatists in the eastern part of the country are accused of asking Jewish citizens to register their identity or face deportation.

 

According to Haaretz, a notice to that effect was pasted up near a synagogue in Donetsk – a city being claimed by ethnic Russians. The notice ordered all Jews over the age of 16 to register with the self-proclaimed government and to pay a registration fee. It asks them to provide:

 

ID and passport … to register your Jewish religion, religious documents of family members, as well as documents establishing the rights to all real estate property that belongs to you, including vehicles.

 

Failure to comply will result in deportation and confiscation of property. The notice claims that this action is necessitated by Jewish support for the “nationalist junta” in Kiev. The chairman of the temporary Russian government of Donetsk (characterised by hostility to the West and hankering for Sovietism) acknowledged that the notice exists but denies responsibility.

If that's true, I absolutely get behind European intervention in Ukraine. That's disgusting behaviour!

I really hope that's a very nasty rumour. I already support intervention in Ukraine (By a UN/NATO/EU peace keeping force to help the interim government restore order and allow the people to have their say in forthcoming elections) but is starting to make me support a full scale beating of Russia.

^^^^ I think that's a part of your propaganda, of overhyping the minor special case. It is the same instrument of propaganda which Putin uses too. Our propaganda says that the current Ukranian powers are ruled by fascists and exemplify that by some statements of several people or semi-politicians mainly from "Praviy Sektor" party. But the propaganda doesn't mention that the "Praviy Sektor" is supported only app. by 1% of Ukranian population according the the latest polls and their influence right now is minimal.

 

And I don't see why UN/NATU/EU should make an intervention in Ukraine, it's surely the same as Russia intervention in Crimea? Russia is hated by quite a lot of people in Western Ukraine now even more, do you want the same to EU from the Eastern Part?

The "Jews had to register or face deportation" story wasn't true after all. From the wonderful Politifact -

 

Kerry said Ukrainian Jews are being asked to register. There was a flier, but it doesn’t seem to have been issued by any authority. No one knows yet who distributed them, but the separatist movement denies issuing the fliers. Jewish community leaders in the area have denounced the pamphlets’ legitimacy. Reporters on the ground in Donetsk say that the fliers aren’t being taken seriously, and no Jews are registering. We rate Kerry’s claim False.

There's a relief. I had assumed it wasn't true as no other news organisation seemed to have picked it up but it's still a relief to have it confirmed.

This shit happens!! Ukranian powers decided to attack separatists on the South-East of the country. Quite a lot of people dead.
