Posted March 1, 201411 yr Did anyone else watch the first episode of the new series? I used to love the show so thought I'd give it a go. It was a pleasant enough hour I guess but I couldn't help but notice that there was no mystery to actually solve. What is the point of a mystery show with no mystery? Ridiculous I tell thee, ridiculous! Aside from that obvious flaw, the nods to Sherlock were amusing and quite well done and were probably the highlight of the episode. All in all a kind of 5/10 episode, hoping that next week's doesn't forget to include something to actually solve as the viewer.
March 1, 201411 yr It was entertaining enough but it did seem rather odd that we knew how the crime happened from the start.
March 1, 201411 yr The mystery was a bit pathetic. It was enjoyable but not up to standard. I hope the rest improve.

March 1, 201411 yr I haven't watched this yet but I will as I do love a bit of JC. Was hoping it would be a bit better than recent ones as it's only an hour. The last few specials have all been quite good, but they don't really justify being so long. Having got the whole series, hour long episodes are fine.
March 1, 201411 yr As I watched it I was thinking that it was rubbish and that's the general concensus on other forums too. Hope the next two are better.
March 1, 201411 yr Did anyone even get what they were going on about half the time or know what happened to either woman in the end? Or that man? Edited March 1, 201411 yr by Michael!

March 5, 201411 yr Just seen the subtitle. Whilst Jonathan Creek has been largely awful this flop back, it is much better than Sherlock. Sherlock is portrayed as a magician. His abilities are magical, not real. It's more fantasy than reality. No one has the power to clench their foreheads, put their fingers to it and work out any situation. How is that power any different to Billie's power in Charmed, achieved with the same motions, of projection?
March 10, 201411 yr Author So the second one was utterly rubbish as well then. So disappointed with this. Although at least there was some semblance of a mystery this time. Sort of.
March 10, 201411 yr I've watched both episodes as well, they haven't been that good, I'm guessing Sheridan Smith is missing, since its basically a husband and wife related show more than anything.
March 10, 201411 yr I had high hopes for this as I love a bit of JC but overall it's been rather poor though Ep 2 was an improvement on Ep 1. It's true that Sherlock is much better now but that's not a detective show, it's a show about a detective if that makes sense so not really comparable. Shame about JC though......
March 10, 201411 yr I quite liked the second episode, the first one would've had the potential to be good but wasn't, but the second was quite good. It was similar to a lot of the earlier ones, in recent years it seemed to have all become about murder but that wasn't really how it started.
March 15, 201411 yr I quite liked the second episode, the first one would've had the potential to be good but wasn't, but the second was quite good. It was similar to a lot of the earlier ones, in recent years it seemed to have all become about murder but that wasn't really how it started. The very first episode did start with a murder!! Hence the reason why Maddie and Jonathan first met! I really was disappointed with this series, I'm not bothered about the murders but the mysteries were not up to standard and I was just bored, so much so in the third episode I fell asleep halfway through I loved the first 2 specials, not the third though where the murderer wasn't one of the characters we had been introduced to. I think it needs to stay as feature length specials as the one hour format to introduce a new dynamic just feels rushed and then the mystery element is left out as though its not important And this comes from a massive JC fan, hopefully it will get another series or something and it can improve, and not having it on a Friday would help its ratings
August 30, 201410 yr Jonathan Creek really has gone downhill to become a farce, it used to be top notch but they seem to have run out of ideas which is a real shame, marrying Jonathan off and moving him out of the windmill and his raincoat was what really changed the series. A bit like when Del & Rodney got married in OFAH.
