March 2, 201411 yr Sounds good. I could have swore I heard those vocals before and this is where they came from!
March 2, 201411 yr This trend will stop after female pop stars start doing this kind of music. That's when it'll stop being "cool". Like what happened with dubstep. Not when male pop stars do it then? Only females?

March 2, 201411 yr Not when male pop stars do it then? Only females? Some male pop stars, like One Direction, would probably have a similar effect, but I don't think people like, say, Example or Labrinth, would hurt too much. It's not that they hate female vocals, if they're relatively "anonymous" like Andreya Triana, Jessie Ware, Kiesza, Jess Glynne, etc. But someone like Pixie Lott or Lady Gaga or The Saturdays is a different matter, and if they ever have a big hit with a deep house song, it would ruin its credibility a lot and make it less cool. Once that happens, the decline will slowly begin, and probably a year or two later it will have completely disappeared from the charts (until its next revival). I know you think I'm talking nonsense, but I bet in 2017 when we're discussing why deep house disappeared from the charts, there'll probably be one particular big hit song or artist that will be identified as a key turning point, that greatly hurt the genre's reputation. The reason I'm fairly certain this will happen is because the record labels of UK pop artists are surely going to have them do this kind of music soon, since it's so easy to get a hit with. For the record, I would not have a problem with it, I'd still like the song if it was good, and you probably would too, but we're just two people. Most people don't think this way. Image and "coolness" plays a huge part in it.
March 2, 201411 yr I suppose, I really cannot see the likes of The Saturdays or whatever releasing a deep house song like My Love though. Maybe Rihanna? I guess she started the whole trend for dance breakdowns being used in songs with We Found Love. I think it is more that when major artists who arent a dance act start using them is when they slowly start to go out of vogue... and because there is generally less male popstars around (there is more R&B ones really), the females get the blame. March 3, 201411 yr I suppose, I really cannot see the likes of The Saturdays or whatever releasing a deep house song like My Love though. Dance breakdown songs have been around for years. Remember 'Bonkers' in 2009? I just find it funny because people always act like they know everything on this forum and smugly talk about how the charts are changing and acoustic/ballads/slow songs were taking over and dance music was starting to fade (this was about the time Passenger, Christina Perri, Labrinth/Emeli, Gabrielle Aplin etc were doing well and Rihanna was releasing Diamonds and Stay because 'she recognized the charts were moving forward') when actually dance music has never went away. It sort of went crazy in 2011 but even in 2012 and 2013 we had Calvin Harris, David Guetta, DJ Fresh, Swedish House Mafia and other dance/house/electropop artists dominating. 2014 looks like it's going to be another big year for dance music. It's never going to fade.
March 3, 201411 yr I'd say last year was a lot more diverse, it wasn't quite as saturated by one particular genre or trend which was really refreshing. Obviously tracks like 'Rather Be', 'My Love' and 'Ready For Your Love' etc are really popular right now but that's not to suggest this year will be dominated by it in the way it was dominated with clones of On The Floor/Sexy Bitch/We Found Love etc in 2011/2012.
