I shall be taking On every #1 single of the last year onwards until the point I can update this each week with a review of that weeks #1 whenever it arises, however I have not even started anything yet, so it probably won't start until next week when I have a few written.

Anyway, I'm Gonna enjoy doing this and I hope whoever decides to check this out will enjoy it too :)

The first #1 of 2013 was...

JAMES ARTHUR - IMPOSSIBLE

3 weeks #1

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/48/James_Arthur_-_Impossible.png

Perhaps covering one of my favourite songs of all time (and the fact I detest James Arthur) sways my review a little bit. Why would anyone want to cover a timeless classic such as this. It's a great song but James Arthur's version is rough around the edges and his voice doesn't suit it at all. It spent 3 non consecutive weeks at #1. Why? Because the British public are hooked on xfactor stars and shamefully can't get enough. Either way in my opinion this did not deserve the success it achieved nor did it deserve a #1.

The second #1 of 2013 was...

WILL.I.AM & Britney Spears - Scream & Shout

2 weeks #1

http://disneydreaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Britney-Spears-William-Scream-And-Shout-Single-Cover.jpg

This deserved massive success. AS MUCH as I hate Will.I.Am I loved this song and the ever amazing Britney lends her vocals to this making it (probably) more of a hit than it would have been otherwise. Coming off the back of the last #1 That was James Arthur, this was a drastic improvement, but only spent 2 weeks at #1 to be dethroned by probably the most annoying song of the year!

The THIRD #1 of 2013 was...

Bingo Players & Far East Movement - Get Up (Rattle)

2 weeks #1

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3a/Get_up_(Rattle).jpg

AHH. The dreaded Get Up! One of the most pointless useless ear raping songs of last year! An absolute mess of a song (like so many others) that the UK loved! Why oh why does the UK love these sort of tracks? Because they are fads. That's why! The UK and it's fads! If only this track had took a cue from the artist and went far east maybe we would never have been introduced to this monstrosity.

The FOURTH #1 of 2013 was...

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Thrift Shop

1 week #1

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0e/Macklemore_-_Thrift_Shop.jpg

I must admit, I don't mind this song now, but at the time of release I despised it. That chorus is so annoying and Macklemore (I don't even know how you pronounce his Name ) dresses like a plonker. There are two reasons to not like the song right there. With this, the UK continues its run of dreadful #1's. The only thing we actually get out of this particular #1 is that it only spent 1 week at #1 :cheer:

The FIFTH #1 of 2013 was...

Avicii & Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One

1 week #1

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a2/AV_vs_NR_-_I_Could_Be_the_One_single_cover.jpg

The second dance tune of 2013 Md it comes from 2 of the biggest artists on the scene!!

It's a fantastic track. ALWAYS HAS BEEN, ALWAYS WILL BE! And for once the British public chose a decent song to take the number 1 spot, albeit only for a week but hey can't complain! This kick started Avicii's String of hits throughout the year and he's continuing right at this point too with his most recent track 'Addicted To You'

Nicky Romero on the other hand hasn't been as nearly as successful but with a track like this, it's just as sure that he'll have a massive hitbsoon enough again.

Boo at the Bingo Players hate  Admittedly the Far East Movement version is a LOT worse than the original and sounds a bit messy

The SIXTH #1 of 2013 was...

One Direction - One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)

1 week #1

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5d/One_Direction_One_Way_or_Another.jpg

From a massive dance tune to a horrible cover and comic relief single. 1D covered this song for comic relief. It's a good song, just not when they Sing it. (My hate of 1D might be coming in to play ) Of all the songs to cover I can see why they chose this one. EVERYONE knows it. MORE people know it now however it shouldn't be this version they recognise.

The SEVENTH #1 of 2013 was...

Justin Timberlake - Mirrors

3 weeks #1

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/91/JTMirrorsCover.png

I hated this when it was released but now I appreciate it and it remains the only good song from this era. Nonetheless, I'm glad the next #1 stole it's thunder, for one week at least

The EIGHTH #1 of 2013 was...

The Saturdays - What About Us

1 week at #1

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/94/The_Saturdays_What_About_Us_single_cover.png

This is the first #1 I truly loved last year! It's amazing and still sounds fresh!! The Saturdays first #1 was long overdue with the likes of Ego and Higher floating around a couple of years prior and only reaching the low end of the top 10. This is one fantastic track and I'm not ashamed to looooooooove it!

Justin Timberlake - Mirrors

I hated this when it was released but now I appreciate it and it remains the only good song from this era.

That's what I thought about Suit & Tie! Hated it then but love it now. JT had a fabulous era, stop lying :P

From a great song, to a not so great song. I know a lot of you guys are fans of this but really, I don't see the appeal, even if their was a reason behind it, it's just a shitty song.

The TENTH #1 of 2013 was...

Duke Dumont & A*M*E - Need You (100%)

2 weeks #1

http://www.rollingtuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Duke-Dumont-feat.-A-M-E-Need-U-100.jpg

How Fitting. Duke Dumont just had his 2nd #1 and here I am discussing his previous #1. To be honest, Need You Is a terrible song but his new song is amazing (There will be more on that later.)

This did not deserve to be #1 but hey that's just my opinion. The UK obviously prefers it's run of poor #1's to great ones.

Edited by JSG

The Saturdays should have stayed #1 instead, right  :kink:

I thought Need U was a great #1 but was upset he kept Pink at #2. You're right that I Got U is better

Need U was great  but I agree with every other review of yours :) that Rumble song was the worst number one in years for me

Loving these reviews, keep it up!

Impossible: Not ashamed to admit that I absolutely LOVED this at the time, but I was going through a JA phase at the time that lasted a couple of months. I still quite like it though, I was always a fan of the original and I really like James' voice.

Scream & Shout: The production for this I always found pretty cool, but for me the lyrics are what put me off it. Also, as much as I love Britney, the faux accent was just odd.

Get Up (Ratle): I bought this at the time purely based on the fact that I loved the music video. The song soon wore off on me and is pretty annoying now!

Thrift Shop: This came out of nowhere  I liked it at the time but soon got tired of it, Can't Hold Us was much better.

I Could Be The One: One of my least favourites from Avicii - a bit too repetitive and samey. You Make Me completely makes up for it though

One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks): In the minority who likes this, but it's a totally guilty pleasure! Something I probably normally wouldn't like, but it's a great song and their vocals are pretty strong.

Mirrors: Loved this when he performed it on the BRITS  Heard it far too much though at the time which put me off for a while, luckily it has grown on me again of late and is a beautiful track

What About Us: At first I didn't really get the appeal for this at all and thought some of their previous material was way better, but it grew on me and sounds fantastic in the sun.

Let's Get Ready to Rhumble:  I like this for the comedy value, as Ant & Dec are brilliant. ^_^

Need U (100%): I was all over this last year, such a great dance track  I do prefer I Got U now though!

Great thread once again! :D

The ELEVENTH #1 of 2013 was...

Rudimental & Ella Eyre - Waiting All Night

1 week #1

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/ce/Waiting-All-Night.jpg

A fantastic #1. Well Atleast I think it is now. Couldn't stand it when it came out mainly because I had yet to get back into Dance & Dunster music, which if you look at my Personal Chart I'm right into just now. At the time I thought itbwas highly overrated and thoughtful should have been lucky to chart top 20 never mind get that #1 but Atleast I appreciate it more now. More than I can saybfor a lot of #1's.
