It's coming.

Listening to Aloe Blacc now - what a bizarre choice of sample! Pleasant song though - never ever expected him to get another hit after I Need a Dollar let alone a number 1!

It's a bit :drama: that 'The Man' is going to be so easily a #1 when 'Your Song' could never get there (#7 for the Elton John original, #4 for the Elton/Alessandro Safina version and #2 for Ellie Goulding's version).
Ewwww just heard the radio edit of 'Bassline' for the first time and no wonder it's flopping! They've butchered it. The original is far superior.

*2 number ones :P Let's not forget 'Wake Me Up', even if he's not officially credited on the song he plays a big part in it and it certainly helped 'The Man' be a smash

Hard to be excited about a chart that has a new entry at #1 each week, completely unchallenged.. and predictable from even before the week starts.

Oh well.

On the contrary! The chart is finally exciting again after several years of a boring stability, I truly hope we can reach the turnover rate from the year 2000, fabulous days in the history of the UK chart!

How can you tell the chart is predictable these days? Even in today's chart most people were predicting "Changes" to have a shot at number one based on a huge international popularity and a long build up, after seeing its iTunes chart performance we know it has no chances. As per the same iTunes chart day-by-day it's Duke Dumont who's likely to grab the throne again, yet 5SOS's pre-orders were so high that led to the immense 45,000 worth gap last Tuesday. Duke could have potentially battle it out but we're still to know that in the evening. Who knows? Besides, I'm sure Aloe Blacc wasn't a dead cert for next week's number one either. To me his lead comes as a surprise.

In terms of #1 turnover, I think 2009-now have been some of the highest ever, and close to 2000. Difference is now songs have much longer chart runs, and there's fewer new entries each week. I would love it if we got 10+ new entries every week.

Surprised at Aloe having such a big lead! Though I can't imagine Duke Dumont's sales are likely to be much more than 50k or so this week so not sure if 'The Man' will manage 100k+ or not.
Do we still think 5SOS will have a second week top ten, with Paolo coming for them, too?

I hope for this to happen as well.

I don't.

They will be at #11 this week it seems. And I think they could have a few more weeks in the top-20/30 because now they are clearly steady, and the Radio 1 playlisting is on too.
I know the biggest drop from #1 is McFly with Baby's Coming Back/Transylvania got 1-20, but what's the second largest drop?

There isn't a second largest drop because Elvis Presley's 'One Night' is joint 1st with a 1-20 drop as well (everyone seems to forget this in the first post of any discussion about this )

Took a bit of digging with the search feature on here but it appears the 3rd biggest drop is also an Elvis reissue ('It's Now Or Never' 1-14) and the only other drop out of the top 10 was Harry Belafonte 'Mary's Boy Child' (1-12).

Rather out of date list but the biggest drop since then was 1-9 for 'Everybody Hurts'.
