There's supposedly another trailer premiering after tonight's episode, I'm presuming that uses the same song as backing track since the main trailer and all the mini break bumps use it. I think it should make the top 40 after that airing.

Has Molly's 'Children Of The Universe' made any kind of impact? I know it was released mid week last week but was hoping it would scrape the Top 100! Looks like yet another year of our ESC entry flopping - Representing the UK doesn't even guarantee a hit anymore giving even less reason for acts to take part!

It was lurking in the lower reaches of the top 300 on iTunes for the most part of last week :(

 

I think our entry could scrape the top 40 after the Eurovision final if it goes top 5 (therefore gets publicity)

It's not had any sort of promo though. The UK entries that have done well chartwise in the past 20 years (i.e. UK top ten) have all had a reason for doing so.

 

Gina G - huge support from everywhere, treated as if it were a non-Eurovision song

Katrina - hype from winning the contest

Precious - treated as a non-Eurovision chart pop song, had Radio 1 playlisting iirc and certainly hammered on TV

Daz Sampson - Had major support from TV music channels

Scooch - I'm really not entirely sure how this managed to go top five, novelty value combined with low sales I guess!

 

Molly's Radio 2 support should eventually get it top 75 like most other A-listed Radio 2 songs but unless it wins the contest I can't see it going much further. The only way I can see a UK Eurovision entry really connecting with the public again in the download era is if we get to pick it via some prime time national final or something. Euphoria going top 3 was proof enough that an amazing Eurovision song can crossover here so it could happen.

Well yeah but 'Magic' was 'released' when the album was first put up for pre-order whereas 'Midnight' has had all the existing pre-orders lumped straight onto it so of course it was gonna go higher! Much like the instant grat releases of the 3 1D songs. Didn't quite think it'd (briefly) get to #2 though.

 

And I think it might have gone top 40 on the album's release but it being released now is going to ruin that. Hopefully it'll still be at least top 100.
