May 13, 201411 yr Which is a shame, because if there was one year Greece was actually deserving of that 12 points it was this year
May 14, 201411 yr It seems like we have a no from Turkey about returning already. As expected. http://eurovoix.com/2014/05/14/turkey-will...-in-eurovision/ This whole saga couldn't get more ridiculous could it? What other country would pull out of a competition to create an inferior version which consists of 20-odd regions of the same culture throwing the same sort of songs at each other?

May 15, 201411 yr Following on from Turkey's (thankful) indefinite absence, a Russian politician has proposed a contest for former Soviet Union members entitled Voice of Eurasia. Article here, it's completely ridiculous as usual.
May 15, 201411 yr They propose all kinds of things all the time, starting from mildly ridiculous to absolute INCURABLE IDIOCY and rarely do those propositions actually have a backing. They are also proposing a ban for Conchita entering Russia. AS IF she would even want to go here lmao. Russia VOTED for Conchita. GET. OVER. IT.
May 15, 201411 yr It amuses me how all the Eastern-European politicians get involved with Eurovision.
May 15, 201411 yr Hint: if it cites a politician from the Communist Party or the Liberal Democratic Party, ignore it.
May 15, 201411 yr I'm glad Turkey aren't returning -saves a top ten position each year for a more deserving song. Russia blocks visas all the time for musicians - plus I doubt conchita would want to go there- imagine how much security he would need!
May 20, 201411 yr Looks like a return for Cyprus is definitely going to happen according to this article with a national final! There are my favourite Eurovision country so I hope it happens. :D
June 28, 201411 yr Apparently another Moroccan state broadcaster is applying for ebu membership so that they can take part in eurovision. Would be interesting if this actually materialises. Actually it seems like this might be old news and nothing came from it - I spoke too soon ;p Edited June 28, 201411 yr by Jack89
June 28, 201411 yr The King said they're never entering again after the first time around. Though that said, if Israel are out next year...
August 7, 201410 yr I wonder how many countries we will end up seeing taking part in 2015? I don't think we will reach the mighty 43 we had in Dusseldorf so I'm gonna predict that the following countries will take part: Albania Armenia Austria Azerbaijan Belarus Belgium Bosnia & Herzegovina < Return Bulgaria Croatia < Return Cyprus < Return Denmark Estonia Finland France Georgia - I think they'll be fined and compete. Germany Greece Hungary Iceland Ireland Italy Latvia Lithuania Macedonia Malta Moldova Montenegro The Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Romania Russia San Marino Serbia < Return Slovenia Spain Sweden Switzerland Ukraine United Kingdom So I'm predicting 41 countries in 2015 - I doubt Israel will be back and it's a no already from anywhere else I believe? Aside to that I really want to see Liechtenstein debut even though they won't this year and for Luxembourg to come back one day! Oh and wouldn't it be funny if Vatican City sent a singing nun dancing to techno every year! Haha Edited August 7, 201410 yr by Jack89
August 7, 201410 yr I'd agree with that! I'm not completely sure about Latvia but I think they'll end up staying so yes that's looking likely.
August 7, 201410 yr I'd agree with that! I'm not completely sure about Latvia but I think they'll end up staying so yes that's looking likely. Yep I agree - I think the ebu is going to have to do a lot of schmoozing with Latvia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia to secure that line up but I do think it's defiantly possible. I think the ebu should consider making it cheaper for micro states to take part too as I think we would regularly see Andorra, Monaco and even Liechtenstein taking part every year annnd it'd secure we don't see Montenegro and San Marino skipping years!
September 17, 201410 yr So if Scotland does go independent when will it join eurovision? I'm guessing the bbc will have the rights for the whole uk in 2015 but Scotland will become fully independent in march 2016 but this would be too late to enter in 2016? Unless after the 2015 contest STV work to enter directly after independence ? So 2015,2016, 2017 I wonder when it will be!
September 17, 201410 yr I'd personally think it would have to be 2017 unless they agreed some sort of deal with the EBU for 2016 knowing that by May of that year they would be independent. There's a little article here about it although it doesn't mention any dates.
September 19, 201410 yr Ukraine have withdrawn for 2015 :( They cited financial and political strain as their reasoning.
