Looks like Sam Smith is going to get a second No 1 of 2014 next week - he probably has promo next week and is now usually ahead of the competition.

I don't know whether Gary Barlow's "Let Me Go" is making a hasty retreat after the press revelations or just general hype die-down. But :D in general at that ~

"Let Me Go" to return when/if he gets arrested by the FILTH for tax dodging.

I agree, I really don't get the 'hate' for Extraordinary?!

I think it's generally down to 'Rather Be' comparisons so in fairness to them, they're never going to avoid criticism no matter how good the follow-up song is. I haven't seen much 'hate' for 'Extraordinary' anyway, mainly apathy.

Personally, I just don't get them really. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but they're such unnatural 'popstars', if you could call them that, and I find the way the blonde girl tends to menacingly grin at the camera to be particularly unsettling . Fair play to them though - I can't begrudge them their success :P.

Extraordinary doesn't sound a great deal like a hit at all, but I never expected Clean Bandit to follow up Rather Be with another huge song anyway - it's sold very much on the basis of the song itself, rather than the artist (a bit of an extreme example here but Alyssa Reid was kinda similar - Alone Again sold on the basis of the song, no-one really cared for Alyssa herself, hence why the follow up 8 months later totally bombed). Obviously Clean Bandit have done/will do better with their recent singles but there's definitely similarities there.
The thing that bothers me about Extraordinary is that it could be sung by anyone, which is a shame as up until now they had a very distinct sound. Still hopeful that the album will be great though. (clearly on the hate train then)

Yes he has on Graham Norton show on Friday, already said this last Friday night :P

Well that's it sown up then :)

I actually thought for a while Second City was out too but it's the following week - all lining up for a week at the top spot lol

If he was, then so would a number of politicians who used the same dodge... :P

I really want Paloma to get her highest peaking single this weekend. I wonder if she can do a John Legend in the long run.

La Roux's new album is available to preorder and the new single is being offered as an instant download. I'm still confused by all of this, but I assume it will be chart eligible as it's the first one?

Listen here:

The first instant grat is rendered chart eligible, so this one is, but if she is to release anymore then those won't be eligible.

Good to see the instant grat is the single so it could well do ok chart wise :) from the start (unlike the Kasabian single)!

Indeed radio 1 seem to be talking about it so it could get support although im surprised that she wasnt the Hottest Record last night?!

Talking about it doesn't mean they'll playlist it.

They talked about it because it was "hot news", like they usually do with important comebacks.

I suppose but most comebacks are usually backed with some type of airplay even if its just on their evening shows and not on their daytime playlist.

Having now heard the song a lot I would be very, very shocked if Radio 1 didn't give it their full support. It seems very "in" for them as the buzz around the act is reigniting, and it sounds like a darker 'Crying For No Reason' which had a lot of support. I doubt Capital will touch it though just going on the sound alone, but fingers crossed they do.

Also hoping there isn't a radio edit because it's the build up of the first half and the release in the second that makes it so special.
