I think it's very unlikely that Radio 1 will snub Cheryl. Beyonce is 32.

I agree. I was exaggerating with that comment - my point was that you can't be too presumptuous that Cheryl will return with an effortless #1 after two years due to her level of star-power (especially when you haven't even heard the song!), as times have changed. Also, I think Jason was being ironic with his post so I'm not sure anyone actually thinks she'll be snubbed :P.

I think it's pretty unlikely Cheryl will release that soon anyway if we still don't know anything about the song (unless I've just missed something).
Gutted 'A Sky Full Of Stars' won't be Top 10 this week. I hope it can get there eventually as it's too good to miss out officially.

Surprised at how well Ed Sheeran is holding up with 'One', seems like it is attracting a decent number of sales beyond just the album pre-orders (just comparing to 5SOS, '5 Seconds Of Summer' is still a couple of places ahead of 'x' in the album chart, yet 'One' is still at #9 while 'Good Girls' has slumped to #33).

Makes you wonder how Sing would have done?! :arrr:

Michael Jacksons new single is actually really good, really surprised..its weird how he can have a top 10 single in 2014?,espically with an on air-on sale song,is it getting much airplay?,whereas others big singers struggle to get their song top 10..

Heart are giving it quite a few spins, as well as BBC Radio 2 I believe. I'm sure there are other local radio stations that are on board with the song, plus the video's getting played on the music channels too.

Concerning Cheryl, we have no idea when she will release the 1st single.

The only thing that is confirmed is :

- the video will be shot on May 28th.

- she's performing at Capital Summer ball at the end of June.

There are rumours that she is performing on BGT on June 7th with the release on the 8th, but the same rumours had the radio premiere on May 10th and we got nothing, so that BGT performance isn't confirmed at all yet. And I would be very surprised if she goes for a on-air on-sale release. If she does that though I don't think she will debut at number 1.

I didn't even consider that 'Salute' was under-performing, but looking at their other post-album releases, they seemed to jump into the top 40 rather quickly (and exit quite swiftly too). I recall 'HYD' making very quick progress, prompting them to stupidly release the Missy Elliot version mid-week and destroying any chance it had of peaking highly. I'd much rather 'Salute' climbed slowly and had a bit of longevity, so hopefully that's the case. It seems to be making steady progress now anyway.

 2. Dangerous Love (feat. Sean Paul) - Fuse ODG

 3. I Will Never Let You Down - Rita Ora

Impressed at Fuse managing to make it to #2, I thought it looked like he was going to stall at #4 earlier in the week. He could be in with a good chance of being #2 officially this week then!

Cheryl may well go for OA/OS with this one, in the same way that Jessie J released 'Wild' OA/OS this time last year, and that didn't do her any harm.
It would be very odd for Cheryl to go OA/OS with this release, when normally she holds them back as far as possible. "Call My Name" would've had better longevity if she released after The Voice performance, rather than waiting another week or two. Why would she do the opposite for this release?

It was obvious before its release though. Clearly they were only bothered about another #1 and big first week sales. I can't see why it would be any different this time round.

Call My Name was released when all the massive hype around Cheryl was dying and the fact that Calvin produced it contributed heavily to its success imo. Unless she's got a massive artist, apart from Pharrell, on board with it, then I doubt OA/OS will work for her. If she debuted anywhere other than the Top 5 by releasing OA/OS, the media will specifically highlight that claiming she's flopped.
I don't think Calvin Harris had any influence on it being the smash it was, ask any average person on the street who produced it and they probably have no idea. It sold on being a great song in my opinon.
I think a lot of people know that Calvin worked with Cheryl on Call My Name. It seems quite well known, given he's not credited. Though, I think Call My Name sold on strength of song mainly. It was a hugely radio friendly and accessible tune with a good video. Aside from that, her profile was diminishing, as shown in the album and followup single sales. It'll surely be sky high again when X-Factor starts, though.
