I don't know what the story is with will.i.am (presumably the track isn't being released next week) or Richard & Adam (their album isn't released until August?) but out of those performances it seems crazy that only 'Last Night' (or will it be 'Somebody To You' and a possible album-only situation :drama:) and 'Salute' can actually be bought straight after people see them! I apologise for all of those brackets by the way :blush:.

 

It's so stupid to me that big money is paid for this type of TV slot, yet the public is restricted from purchasing the promoted songs :hithead:. Pre-orders don't begin to account for the lost sales from casual buyers IMO. It's somewhat understandable with Ella, albeit frustrating, but I'm very surprised Ed's song is being held back so long as he's big enough to do very well without that and he strikes me as an artist whose fanbase would be annoyed with having to wait so long, given his 'authentic' roots.

I am surprised there seems to be no One Direction performance of 'You and I', unless of course they are the TBA instead of Cheryl.

Oh I thought Sing was out next week, seems so long since it premièred! :lol:

Unrelated: it seems a few Coldplay album tracks do have a good chance of making the top 100 after all. 'Another's Arms' definitely will thanks to its erroneous sales but may well have done so anyway as it's still at #51. 'O' is #64, 'Always In My Head' #68 and 'Ink' #81 (so 7 out of 9 tracks are still comfortably top 100 three days after the album release).

 

EDIT: ignore all of that, it seems my feed was WAY out of date :lol: 'Another's Arms' is still going to be top 100 but it has dropped to #146 on iTunes now. 'O' is #79, 'Always In My Head' is #92 and 'Ink' #101 now, could see 'O' scraping into the top 100 as well but probably not the other two. 'Midnight' has plummeted all the way to #88 but 'A Sky Full Of Stars' and 'Magic' are still holding up fairly well, having stabilised since the loss of album pre-order sales (#14 and #26).

Sing would have been top 20 (at least) these past 5 weeks with an On air release and goodness how much it could have sold instead it will have 20-30k preorders max to help it jump in at No1/2/3 on its release week. Good comparision is Magic by Coldplay who had sold nearly 200k before the album release and Ed Sheeran will have alot more sales due to the higher airplay by Capital etc.

 

But sure let the charts fall into irrelevancy...

I do agree with you that the best thing would have been OA/OS for Ed but I think it's especially wasteful when there's big TV promo of an unreleased song. I don't see why the label couldn't bring 'Sing' forward to Sunday to take full advantage.

I know & I am still baffled by the removal from the radio 1 A List to the BList lol. They push it most on radio 1 the week before release hence why it's so strange!

I wouldn't say What's Luv is forgotten about at all. Nobody ever talks about it on Buzzjack I suppose, but it does get loads of recurrent plays.

I'm pretty sure it was posted in the 'what are you listening to' thread after it appeared on iTunes which makes me think that was the reason it was posted there? I may be wrong :P
