Any particular reason Midnights increasing!?

It is still getting sales from album pre-orders. (Well, not any more, but it was up until midnight, no pun intended).

It was between 30-50 for the past 2 weeks but only increased into the top 30

In the past few hours?! Seemed strange - the preorders in the last 48hrs must have been huge for Ghost Stories - would love to see a Kworb table for the albums this week lol

Yes, the pre-orders of the album have been a lot higher the last few days because A) that always happens in the few days leading up to an album's release and B) it's been streaming on iTunes since midway through last week.

Yeah it jumped into the top 5 last wk with the streaming availability. Think they're certainly capable of doing 170-200k

Copies this week!

10. Coldplay - A Sky Full of Stars

Next weeks top 10 is looking like being a bit of a clear out week with 4 new entries!!

Hope Coldplay can climb higher now the albums out and with their Big Weekend performance, this track deserves to go top 5

Coldplay in the Top 300:

254. O

230. Always In My Head

255. Viva La Vida

215. Fix You

174. Midnight (Georgio Moroder Remix)

30. Another's Arms

25. Midnight

14. Magic

10. A Sky Full Of Stars

I don't know how many people watch Sky Arts, but there is an exclusive Coldplay concert at 9:30pm tonight
Hmmm Idina Menzel's Let It Go EP doesn't seem to be having much if any effect at the mo.... Another week at Number 11/12 in the singles this week?! :( ... For the chart run it's had it's such a shame if it doesn't crack the Top 10

2 DARK DARK RED Updates for Coldplay... I guess no top 10 this week... people are buying the album instead of the song and they doesn't have second version or something.

11. Coldplay - A Sky Full of Stars

I guess the 'buying all the album tracks individually rather than buying the album' thing isn't happening then (or at least it hasn't happened to any great degree yet). I must have overestimated how much people care for saving 8p.

It looks like 'Another's Arms' has done the same as what 1D's 2 album tracks did when their album was released and been mistaken for an instant grat - I do wonder if this is done on purpose. Nonetheless it looks like it won't be near as disruptive to the chart as the 1D tracks were. Incidentally it looks like in both cases only a portion of the pre-orders were added on, not sure why that would happen... perhaps the track was 'released' from the album a few minutes before the album came out so it counted as a sale for anyone who viewed iTunes in those few minutes who had pre-ordered the album  That might also explain how 1D were so much higher than Coldplay from such an error as 1D fans would probably be more eager to be on iTunes at that time than Coldplay fans, even though there's no need as they'd already pre-ordered.

(feel free to not read that paragraph, just theorising to myself)

I do miss when instant grats were less of a thing as they just cause so much confusion.

11. Coldplay - A Sky Full of Stars

18. Coldplay - Magic

27. Coldplay - Midnight | (186. Giorgio Moroder Remix)

32. Coldplay - Another's Arms

104. Coldplay - O

221. Coldplay - Fix You

238. Coldplay - Viva la Vida

284. Coldplay - Paradise (1318.)

302. Coldplay - Yellow

447. Coldplay - The Scientist

^One from each album making up the Top 5 older Coldplay songs :D

576. Coldplay - Clocks

759. Coldplay & Rihanna - Princess of China

1267. Coldplay - Atlas

1419. Coldplay - Charlie Brown

1452. Coldplay - Speed of Sound

Miranda Lambert & Carrie Underwood - Something Bad is #114 :o Very random, they did perform it on the Billboard Music Awards last night but I didn't think that would have an effect like this? Pleased though, especially since Miranda probably never even troubled the top 500 before, this isn't even a single!

But shes only 3 weeks of the record for most weeks in the top 20 without reaching the top 10, let her have that

Ed Sheerans instant grat still top 10 in comparison to the 5 Secs of Summer track falling predictably away. Would love to have known how well Sing would have done as a On Air release, no doubt it would have sold hundreds of thousands of copies because he's such a big name, radio supported it quite quickly & it was a well recieved return.

I do miss when instant grats were less of a thing as they just cause so much confusion.

I prefer if an artist release a single or two before the album release plus 1 instant grat, not more, because they can't chart anyway. And that one instant grat at least could be a surprise charter.

There are less and less surprises, unexpected entries in the chart with all these pre-orders the charts are so predictable :(
