As Mariah prepares to release her fourteenth studio album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, we count down the talented diva’s Official Top 20 Most Downloaded Singles.

Over two decades after her first hit Vision Of Love, Mariah Carey is still one of the biggest female artists in the world. With 39 Top 40 hits under her belt, including 24 Top 10s and two Number 1s, Mariah is a pop legend. She’s about to launch her fourteenth studio album Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, which is her first collection of new (non-Christmas related) material for five years!

To celebrate both Mariah’s long awaited return and a Decade Of Digital – the music industry’s series of events to mark 10 years of the legal download – we count down Mariah’s big digital sellers. Here’s a closer look at the Top 5 before we list the full Top 20.

1: All I Want For Christmas Is You (1994)

It had to be, didn't it? And you didn't even have to wait for Santa to bring you the news! When Mariah released her Merry Christmas album almost 20 years ago, we doubt even she knew just how big the lead single would be.

Originally peaking at Number 2 in 1994, All I Want For Christmas Is You has been a huge beneficiary of the digital download era, re-entering the Top 40 seven times – every year since 2007! It’s still yet to outdo its original position, but did make it to Number 4 in 2007. It’s also a million-seller for Mariah; it passed the mega milestone in December 2013. Over 695,000 of its sales are digital downloads! We know it’s May, but give it a play anyway – it’s a top tune any time of the year!

2: #Beautiful (2013)

Before you all write in, our fingers haven't slipped – that's a hashtag in the title. From a golden oldie to a newbie, Mariah’s collaboration with Miguel from 2013 is already her second biggest download! The track may have peaked no higher than Number 22 but has shifted over 170,000 downloads thanks to a lengthy chart run.

3: We Belong Together (2005)

Regarded by many as a return to form for Mimi, We Belong Together was her biggest hit in the UK for five years, since she topped the Official Singles Chart in 2000 with Westlife on a cover of Phil Collins’ Against All Odds (it really happened). We Belong Together peaked at Number 2 in July 2005.

4: Hero (1993)

Despite originally being released in the pre-digital era, Mariah’s signature tune is still high on her Official Top 20 Downloads. The hopeful ballad may be over 20 years old, but still very much in the public’s hearts. It’s a staple of TV talent shows and was even covered and released as a single by 2008’s The X Factor finalists – they even had the cheek to take it to Number 1, which is six places higher than Mariah managed. What a liberty!

5: Touch My Body (2008)

The lead single from Mariah’s 11th studio album E=MC2, Touch My Body’s video featured a cameo from Jack McBrayer, who played 30 Rock’s geeky page Kenneth, not to mention a starring role for Mariah’s favourite lingerie. The stripped back R&B track was the last Mariah single to make the Top 10, peaking at Number 5 in 2008.

Other notable entries:

Mariah’s two Number 1s, both released in the pre-digital era, miss out on a Top 5 placing in her download hall of fame. Without You has to settle for sixth place, while Against All Odds, comes in 12th.

Very pleased to see 'Fantasy' and 'Always Be My Baby' within her download Top 10 - two of my favourites.

I wish '#Beautiful' could have pushed for a Top 20 peak & 200k+ sales, but its longevity was pretty incredible for a Mariah single.

I hate the majority of what she does but she's had a few gems here and there.

I'm quite similar - I don't hate her music but it's not usually my cup of tea, plus the warbling can be VERY off-putting. From the list, I like the Top 6, 'Always Be My Baby' and 'Obsessed'.

Wow, 170,000 for #Beautiful! :o

Pretty much what I expected really, although I thought her 2005 songs and Touch My Body might have been a big higher. Obsessed could have been top 10 if its release was handled better.

If this shows anything it is that they really messed Obsessed chart chances up, when it is at 16 after only being available as a remix (around its 'release date' ) and then not being available until the album came out October time. They should have just done that single OA/OS. I am sure it would have got at least top 15 as it was all over TV and social media, mainly due to the supposed dig at Eminem.

No wonder the album bombed when it's only official uk single was I Want To a Know What Love Is, which is a terrible representation of the album.

When Memoirs came out, I literally forgot that it did. Obsessed did alright for Mariah, but her later singles were just nowhere really. Same can be said for E=MC2 era too. Touch My Body did well, but her later singles were forgotten.

I think Mariah is at a point where reaching Top 20 in singles is a hit for her. As for her new album, it can go either way. Sam Smith is her album opening week competition.
