Couldn't disagree more. Can't wait for songs like Sing, Ghost and Problem to dominate the chart, totally missed pop songs dominating rather than these samey repetitive dance songs. I Wanna Feel just blends in with many other hits from this year and Jubel is just Changes Pt 2 (idk which actually came first but that's not the point).

I don't even hate dance music, I've liked many of the #1s this year, but I'd like a change.

I kind of agree with you. We've had some great hits this year but it's come to the point where it's getting very tiring. I've warmed to Waves but I still don't understand how it's become a massive hit and I Wanna Feel would be such an underwhelming No. 1 for me. It really does just blend in with other dance tracks (both hits and non-hits). Also, while I love both Changes and Jubel, no one can deny their similarity in sound.

Even though I don't really like the SecondCity song, I have absolutely loved the dance domination this year and am hoping it can carry on especially at this speed with one week-long number ones which makes the chart dynamic hence so interesting to follow.

I'm scared to think that urban/rap/r&b might ever return to the upper reaches. These recent Iggy Azalea/Ariana Grande/Eminem/Timberlake/Minaj/Usher tracks are just plain vile :puke:

Completely agree.

It would be good if we saw a Indie revival reaching No.1 in between these dance gems instead.

Unfortunately I can't see a dance song on the horizon that will continue the domination?

Yeah, you're gonna have to wait a month for 'Gecko' (unless Gorgon City miraculously beat 5 Seconds Of Summer).

They are the best things in the charts right now. Thankfully Ariana will be huge! :D

pre-order update

81. Sing - Ed Sheeran

112. Ghost - Ella Henderson

185. Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea) - Ariana Grande

285. The Drop (feat. Cherri Voncelle) - Lethal Bizzle

322. Budapest - George Ezra

325. Gecko (Overdrive) [Radio Edit] - Oliver Heldens & Becky Hill

448. Chandelier - Sia

450. Wasted (feat. Matthew Koma) - Tiësto

484. Here For You (feat. Laura Welsh) - Gorgon City

538. Don't Stop - 5 Seconds of Summer

632. Good Kisser - Usher

686. Me and My Broken Heart - Rixton

802. Half Light (feat. Tom Cane) - Wilkinson

1023. eez-eh - Kasabian

1342. Classic - MKTO

As much as I love the Gorgon City track, I really can't see it even going Top 3.

Ella's Ghost will slay on pre-orders after her BGT performance tonight.

It is Bleeding Love part II but that's no bad thing!

I can't stop listening to it.

12. Ellie Goulding - Beating Heart

14. Twin Atlantic - Heart and Soul

20. Lana Del Rey - West Coast

34. Lana Del Rey - Shades of Cool

53. Lana Del Rey - West Coast

94. Jason Mraz - Hello, You Beautiful Thing

856. Janet Devlin - House of Cards

Gosh dance music has got terrible this year, we need big room back. Not this soft crap.

At least we have had Shot Me Down and Bad and Cannonball (Earthquake) and Tsunami (Jump) which have all stopped me from topping myself.

Also this weeks releases are so crap, apart form the Robyn one.

They all seem like odd choices to me, as I think they've all been probably the worst dance songs this year.

Not that they're bad, but they don't sound as fresh and 90's-esque as say, 'I Got U', 'My Love', 'Hideaway' and 'I Wanna Feel', they're just dance songs that the charts have already seen in the last few years?

well that's very unlikely considering big room has diminished in popularity this year with many growing out of it, the overplaying of Animals and the success of Shot Me Down (a song which was criticised by many yet I shamefully loved it) was probably the big turning point for many, people always want to hear something fresh and it just happens to be that deep house is taking over as the next big dance fad. Personally I'm starting to get sick of big room too, and there's been some really good house/deep house tunes out this year.

The dance music of 2014 thus far has been so frickin amazing!   This the best period for chart music (in general) since the turn of the millennium! ^_^

It's not as if we've only had dance No1's this year as the likes of Pharrell, Pitbull, Sam Smith (x2), 5SOS, Aloe Blacc and Rita Ora have also topped the chart, so there's been more diversity than the moaners are making out. Some people need to come to terms with the fact we're not in the 00's anymore!

#1s in general have been pretty shit, not just dance, it's just that Waves and I Got U are the worst offenders imo (along with Happy which of course isn't dance). The only ones I've really loved are Rather Be and I Will Never Let You Down.

This.

I can't remember the last time that the No.1 singles have been so good in one year.

There has been diversity this year, and I think the "moaners" won't stop moaning until we're punished with the charts being infected with washed up old X Factor finalists and generic girl/boy bands. :puke2:

I'd welcome another UK #1 for Diana Vickers!

I'd welcome another UK #1 for Diana Vickers!

Luckily enough I can't see that ever happening again. :puke2:

Though saying that, she was one of my favorite acts from that year. She just managed to 'F' it up with her material.

The only good thing to come from The X Factor was Matt Cardle, and he didn't exactly set the charts alight.

I've still managed to avoid hearing the criminal cover of Damian Rice's 'Cannonball'.

I'd welcome an X Factor infested chart over a dance infested chart anyday.

Besides, there *has* been variety, but there's no denying that the #1s this year have been mostly dance, and quite a few are very samey. Not entirely sure how many of these dance #1s will be remebered in years to come (of course, the same could be said for some of the other #1s, but still)
