I still don't get the hatred for this song! In fact the whole album seems to get a lukewarm response. Sure, it's no 'Teenage Dream' but it's still a solid pop album.

Really like the video, but the song does absolutely nothing for me still. The middle-8 is fab and i'm desperately trying to get behind it like i did with 'Birthday' but i just can't... (yet)

She should release 'Walking On Air' next ^_^

I agree with the general reaction, it's a nice fun video for a nice song but it isn't single material at all and will probably struggle to bother the UK top 40. 'Walking On Air' is the only remaining single choice left on 'Prism' I think.
It's a little monotonous, but I really like it and the video is very fresh and fun! Hopefully another top 20 hit. But, please, no more singles from this album!
"Legendary Lovers" "Walking On Air" and "By The Grace of God" were all better choices and the video is a basic mess. I don't know who chooses Katy's singles but she needs to sack them!

100% with you on this. The song was an instant highlight for me and does what 'Birthday' tried to do, so much better. Again she absolutely NAILED the video too! Ahhh. I'm so excited for this release! :D
... Is this a joke? Honestly. The video is one of the worst, cheapest POS I've ever seen. In a few years it will be as cringe for everyone as the Physical video. It is all cringe, the song, the cheap tacky video. Quite definitely the worst thing she's ever done. If Lady Gaga did this everyone would be throwin shade saying it was diabolical. I think people will look back at this as the moment she jumped the shark. I thought like Rihanna she was jntouchable but if she ends the campaign on this, then she is setting herself up for a huuuge fall on album three like Lady G. It's almost as if she and GaGa are in a race to see who can run their career into the ground first

Edited by Michael!

I smell another flop. Two awful songs/video releases in a row. Katy Perry is over (until she releases "Legendary Lovers" or "Walking on Air" or a new album).

Agreed. And might never recover the same level of success again. It's positively jump the shark.

Argh I knew it, this song is already growing on me. I know I'm probably going to love it next week like I did with Birthday, I still wish she went with LL but I hope this manages top 40 at least. The video reminds me of California Gurls in places too :cheer:

I agree with the lukewarm response comment, so many good tracks! PRISM is my favourite album out of the three shes done but this song was such a wrong move :(

I think Gaga has beat her to it!

Omygod this is growing on me so much

HELP!

I'm loving the song even more since the video, it's not as good as Roar (*.*), Uncondtionally or Darl Horse but it's much better than Birthday imo. It's just not a single though, nor was Legendary Lovers tbh, I think Walking On Air was the only viable choice.

This article accuses Katy being racist & guilty of cultural appropriation (she seems to be accused of doing the latter a lot recently re: Dark Horse video, Unconditionally performance).

Also seen a lot of tweets saying the same thing. I can't say I watched the video and thought there was any bad connotations in it... Katy & watermelons was a thing right back in the 'One of the Boys' days and no one complained then?

And can a hairstyle really be racist?

I swear some people get offended by anything and everything nowadays... it's very misplaced.

Completely aside from the above, but I don't think 'This Is How We Do' is a particularly good choice. Would have preferred 'Walking On Air' obviously, or 'Legendary Lovers'. 'Birthday' & 'This Is How We Do' coming one of after the other isn't a good move.
