Posted June 3, 201411 yr 3rd album coming out in October. Here is the title track performed live: Nh5VtitWA-M Edited August 22, 201410 yr by Davidson
June 3, 201411 yr She has a fantastic voice, it's just a shame her material isn't very good, but I did like her first album and even bought the Platinum edition, but her second album was just terrible and this new stuff isn't any better, I think her next album will probably sell less and continue to plummet. June 3, 201411 yr I'm gutted that Alive wasn't pushed further, it was a really good album and a lot better than her debut. Sexy Lady was a hit in waiting :( Glad it still went top 30 from the advert exposure though.
June 3, 201411 yr I agree that Alive was better on the whole, on Who You Are a lot of the tracks blended into one and were quite bland, nothing more than just "nice" in most cases. In fact the only album tracks I'd go back to are Big White Room and L.O.V.E. probably, whereas Alive had Conquer The World, Excuse My Rude, Sexy Lady, Square One and Alive.
June 3, 201411 yr I'm gutted that Alive wasn't pushed further, it was a really good album and a lot better than her debut. Sexy Lady was a hit in waiting :( Glad it still went top 30 from the advert exposure though. I'm still shocked at them not pushing "Sexy Lady". It already had a #22 peak and couldn't 'flop' any worse than a top 30 hit - either way I think with full single treatment it would've been another top 10 for her! Also, "Conquer The World" is amazing and should've been a single.
June 3, 201411 yr There's some more videos of new tracks here... cvyKmsc71Bc (That would sound good with Justin Timberlake on - make it happen Jessie!) tXtuL5buSBY Not sure about that. Maybe the studio version would be better. vgwef3nPmKQ Love this. I always love Jessie's slower songs.
June 3, 201411 yr For me 'Thunder' was the only really decent thing from that album, but it was by far and away the best thing she's put her name to!
June 5, 201411 yr It would be good if she talked Sexy Lady onto the next album and released it as the lead I suppose, not that that would happen!
June 5, 201411 yr 'Sexy Lady' is surely nothing she hasn't already done before (i.e. with her best interpretation of 'Last Friday Night' she'd released two years previously which Rita Ora also did a third rate version of a few months later)? It's nothing that special and it only charted because it was featured in an advert.
June 5, 201411 yr Well it definitely seems to be one of the best received tracks on the album, it's perfectly commercial and it did make a pretty big impact from the advert exposure. Re-entered the top 40 after Surprise Surprise also I think? Definitely think it's a missed single opportunity. Would've done miles better than the rather bland Thunder.
June 6, 201411 yr 'Thunder' Tbh I'd probably go as far as saying it's my favourite song of hers overall. Glad it was a single, or I'd probably never have heard it (I didn't bother with 'Alive').
June 6, 201411 yr jessie j is the perfect pop star! she's a good role model, good fashion and a bit of an edge (in a responsible way!). and she without doubt has one of the best live voices I've heard - rivals lead singer of London Grammar's! Has anyone seen her live?
June 6, 201411 yr Some of the things she comes out with on Twitter... this girl must have had no media training.
June 6, 201411 yr I can't imagine she's had any no. She does come up with some absolute tripe on twitter. Although all things considered and how she sits within the rest of the music scene i do believe she's a good role model as a pop star. Has hardly had one bad headline about her, does her charity work, unique personality. And let's not forget she has an outstanding voice! Although it's lost in more of her recent pop tunes her earlier stuff is amazing. And SHE'S SO GOOD LIVE.
June 6, 201411 yr If you like your role models to have narcissistic tendencies and to patronise their fans with self-love therapy sessions at any given opportunity then yeah, she's a decent role model I guess :P. (If anyone thinks that's harsh/untrue, check out the start of the third video in April's post for a prime example of Jessie's ongoing struggle to convince the world that NOBODY is perfect, even Jessie herself :o.) Also, I don't really get why 'Thunder' is so highly regarded, although it's far from her worst. 'Wild' for me was definitely the best 'Alive' single - great chorus.
