what is better 1000 x 99p sales

or 3000 x 59p sales........

and keep it relevant for the week rather than just one day. totally disappointed.... its a charity record, yet no promo, not one single radio play, not even sent to radio.... and I feel sorry for the APREC charity

It raised over £20,000 with the auction alone, hardly something to be sniffed at.

No Janet in the top 40? Seems weird as she has over 4,000 pledgers on Pledge Music that will have all received the album this week which would have easily seen her into the top 40, particularly at this stage.

Just came in to post exactly that, and saw your comment.

Seems very odd.

It's a charity record, she's not doing it for the sales or popularity, she's doing it for charity. They'll be spending money on promo but not gaining any as the profits from the song go to charity, so I don't see the pint in promo. I don't think 59p would make a difference tbh.

£20k is very poor.... she could give them that out of her own money from 1 hour interest in her bank account and save us all the bother....

she could have sold 100-200k around the world easily and that would have been 200k for charity more like it....

she must have zillions of contacts to help promote for free etc...

Seeing Ella with such huge sales and Little Mix in the top five is really making me happy.

I wonder what Tulisa makes of all this .

So proud of @EllaHenderson. Who's got their copy of #Ghost pic.twitter.com/x8pHcVudaV

Kylie is high profile so you would expect a charity single from her to raise more than £20,000. If her record company had any idea of their job it would make half a million for the charity.
Rik Mayall now up to 14 on iTunes. It's at this point, if I were on Ella's 'team', that I would have a slight nervous twitch that this may snowball into something massive before Saturday... then they can regret they chose her date around the world cup kick off ^_^

How though? Radio refuse to touch her, the music channels are the same. They realise it'd be a pointless exercise so they didn't bother. Seems wise to me.

I really don't know what people were expecting off this Kylie release  Firstly, it's far from her best song anyway, but also, it's received almost no promo? The fanbase couldn't get I Was Gonna Cancel into the top 40 and this is looking to outpeak that so it's not so bad. It's had no airplay, no-one outside the fanbase will know it even exists. It's doing as well as can be expected (and £20k is bloody great for a song that might not even make the top 40).
Considering how it was released, Kylie is doing well, what i am saying is it could have been handled so much better. I am in agreeance that outside her fanbase nobody knows the single exists, does that not suggest the marketing is all wrong.

That's kind of been the same case with every single of hers after 'All The Lovers' though, sadly.

I totally agree, not one single was handled correctly since the tunefantastic All the Lovers. In fact, i would go as far to say that each single released has been handled worse than the previous which is a worrying trend.

Crystallize has done well considering it appears to have been a low key release - not much promotion and probably aimed just at the fans to raise a bit of money for charity. What's interesting is that its likely to out peak her last single, which had more promotion (albeit not loads) and was released to promote her album. Clearly, promotion is an issue but also song choice as well.

Cases in point:

Better Than Today - even releasing it in the first place.

Timebomb - random midweek release.

Into The Blue - deleting the highest version on iTunes and the second version never properly recovering

I Was Gonna Cancel - even releasing it in the first place/releasing THAT video on the Friday of release week.

i hope kylie can make the top 40.

I'm praying for number one like my new signature.

Totally agree with everything except Better Than Today, i liked that single, its release and promotion strategy was totally wrong but it did manage to sell a reasonable amount.
