Rixton looking like they could get a #01 then?! Such a average song though :( Way too safe and generic.

ffs, sia needs to keep climbing

Happy to see that Demi will get a decent position with this on Sunday. And 'Really Don't Care' already creeping up bodes well for a proper release here also. Much prefer these to the two she started the campaign with (especially the lacklustre 'Made in the USA').

I will forever long for her to release 'Without The Love' at some point though as it's my favourite from the album, but i'm probably in a minority with that and it will never happen :(

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

'Made In the USA' is by far my favourite single of hers now and I really don't get the dislike towards it :( It's a pure pop anthem and doesn't try to be anything else. It's so sweet.

Glad to see Ariana back above Oliver Heldens! I wonder if Ariana could do 200k opening week? Not dropped out of the top 200 since she got put up for pre-order (months ago) has she? And peaked top 30 with it and now, climbing back up with a little over a week until release!

What on earth are Ed Sheeran's record company thinking - the more singles they release early, the fewer people will buy the whole album!
Four of the top 8 songs ineligible to chart, and likely to get worse before it gets better. :o

Yup. Like I said yesterday if they continue to hold up we will have 8 Ed Sheeran tracks in the Top 10 come the weekend, 7 will be ineligible to chart.

I hope this isn't the start of a trend of 'mass instant gratting'. If so the iTunes chart could become so clogged up with chart ineligable tracks that it will become almost useless as a means of determining what the official chart will be.

At least it would bring some excitement back to the midweeks and the officials.
Really Dont Care >>>>> Neon Lights

They should have pushed that instead, clearly has the potential to do well.

Totally agree! I do really like Neon Lights but there's something about it I can't fully take to for some reason, it's like an 8/10 but pretty much all of her singles bar Rememeber December and Get Back are more than that. Neon Lights has done very well but I think RDC would have gone top 10!

The album is full of potential singles though, she still has Without The Love  this'll definitely be the last single though, she's on a world tour soon and I think she's started the fifth album.

What a ridiculous situation

I dare say the OCC will think of some rule change to deal with it - after all, ploughing through the raw data identifying which songs are ineligible must waste a lot of time for them.

How about : any album that has instant grat singles released from it, will get its first weeks download sales excluded from the charts... :heehee:

Her best one for me. :( One of my guilty pleasures.

Don't be ridiculous. It's all about building hype for the album. It will debut f***ing big.

Made in the USA is amazing. It's so sad that everybody hates it.

Won't people just do 'complete my album' for a ridiculously small price to get the remaining tracks, which will count as an album sale? Seems like they'll have done it in a way where doing that will be cheaper than cherry picking the remaining tracks.

I'm quite surprised that he's at the stage where he can just send any album track to No.1 on iTunes, considering I See Fire couldn't even reach the top 10

I'm sure iTunes doesn't much like it either. I know they have to report what is selling but I think they would far prefer people to arrive on their site and be presented with a top 10 of at least a reasonably varied diet of music, rather than one in which day by day is becoming increasingly dominiated by one artist.

Personally, I wouldn't allow even one instant grat from an album to chart. It distorts the chart because they aren't all buying the single 'on merit' but merely as an incentive to pre-order the album.

Obviously this is a compromise though.

The record labels do all the 'work' for them in identifying what is and isn't eligible so no.

And why on Earth would they exclude sales of albums that had instant grats? It's a PROMOTION METHOD. This is what labels are supposed to do and they are doing nothing wrong. The only people inconvenienced by any of this are niche communities like BuzzJack.

The 50% Ed top 10 is a MESS. Just like free songs, instant grats shouldn't show up on iTunes unless they're chart eligible.

Made In The USA is good, it just wasn't second single material. Really Don't Care should've been released after Heart Attack - it's very catchy and clearly very popular with fans. It has the potential to go top 100 here in the UK without a proper release and support. If it followed up Neon Lights here with radio/TV support, I think it could be a Summer smash for Demi and Cher!
