September 8, 200619 yr I would have thought that it could work the other way around. My hunch would be that big names would do better with physical releases coz for many fans there's something there that you can physically hold and so there's a stronger connection with their Idol that you just don't get with a download. I think downloads shift the balance a little, away from buying coz of who it is and more for what it is. I suppose it can work both ways...which makes me think that the second Kylie puts a new single on iTunes it will storm to No.1 in hours no matter what it sounds like. If it is bad it won't stay there long and probably have a lot of its sales before physical release but if it is a strong song a la Scissors then it will hang around at the top :D

September 8, 200619 yr Not always... Shakira's song did not get airplay when it debuted... and it went 54-3-2-1-2-2-3-1-1-1-1-2-2... Airplay is not always the key to success... It may not have had RADIO airplay but the video was top of the tv play chart for weeks on end...

September 8, 200619 yr Basement Jaxx album position is REALLY low.... I knew it wouldn't be as high as people were expecting, given that the lead single is pretty much their biggest flop ever. But yes, I didn't expect it to be this low! I'm sure it'll sell well in the long-run with some better single choices.

September 9, 200619 yr Author Newsflash The Album chart might spring a surprise for Richard Hawley tomorrow, apparently I heard its selling quite well, on the back of the Mercury Music Awards. I'm assuming it be top 5, but it could snatch #1 :o
