I was unsure where to post this, but I think it's more relevant to the Premier League?

What do we all think to the Malky Makay stuff that's just come out in the press? Hard to think Vincent Tan could end up being the good guy in all of this.

I feel incredibly sorry for Malky Mackay, disappointed Palace have dropped all interest though as I think he would have been the perfect manager there.

I take it you haven't seen what all the tabloids are running with tomorrow Lee! Pretty damming allegations, and judging by the law firm used, and all the other little bits and pieces that have happened I can't see them not being true. I can't see Moody being in a job long either. Of course the racism/sexist will the main pull used by the papers, the eye opener in all this, is all the extra payments being made.

Ouch! If even one of those comments is genuine I don't fancy his future chances of employment.

I think he will get a job again eventually, but certainly not in the Premier League. There have been rumours about for ages, but the fact that he dropped his lawsuit against Tan and offered an apology speaks for itself. Obviously none of this is concrete, but if it is true there's a pretty damning case against him. Like I said, who would ever have thought Vincent Tan would come out of this looking like the good guy?

Timed to perfection as soon as he's about to get a new job too. I'm just surprised there's a manager more unemployable than Billy Davies...

So the League Managers Association has said that two texts were "disrespectful of other cultures" but defended them as "friendly text message banter". Which two and in what way were they "friendly"? And what about the others?

It's no surprise they've come out and retracted that statement. Such a ridiculous thing to say. I get it's their job to stick up for managers, but they have not helped their case at all, and have been quite rightly been made a mockery of throughout social media!

Still, they could've followed old Knappsy's lead and said 'he's not a paedophile or raped anyone....'!

"Come on, it's not like he's a serial killer!" Harry Redknapp on signing Ched Evans, June 2015

Just out of interest and of course not at all related to them currently losing 3-0 in the league cup to MK Dons, does anyone know the shortest amount of time someone has been a manager of Manchester Utd for?
I don't think there's a chance of LVG being sacked this season.

Oh I didn't realise there was a Capital One Cup thread. In fact, I didn't realise it was called the Capital One Cup for that matter.

My forays into the sports forum are always so ill advised!

4-0 now! Lord Jesus. Half the squad needs binned, they are just not good enough to play for Man Utd.

I doubt van Gaal will get sacked. Very short sighted if they do. But I do wonder how he will deal with the pressure knowing his volatile attitude.

There are so many average players playing for the club. They will be luck to sustain a challenge for top 4, never mind get in the top 4. Signing big names is not going to help if you have no balance to the team.

Am I right in thinking that van Gaal said somewhere that he needs 3 months in a job to get things the way he wants them or something along those lines, if so then I guess we should wait and see but I agree with Rooney that he won't be sacked.

What he is trying to adapt is a difficult system. You need intelligent players to play the way van Gaal wants. I've not seen the highlights but all the reports say that the players just did not understand the system. It will take them a while to adapt. Which is why it doesn't help when Ed Woodward and people connected with Manchester United make these predictions that they're going to be amazing this season, be top 4 and challenge for the title. No chance. They have a handful of good players, that is it. I've barely seen many Man Utd fans accept the situation they're in. I think things will get worse before they get better, but when a large percentage of your fanbase is used to you constantly winning, then sooner or later the fans are going to want change.

Excluding spells as interim manager that distinction appears to go to Lal Hilditch who was in charge from October 1926 to April 1927. There was a shorter reign of just over a month by T. J. Wallworth in 1912. This, however was prior to the role being called football manager and the title was secretary.

What an absolutely bonkers weekend :D

Arsenal find it in them to be good, Liverpool outclassed, Everton beaten at home, Spurs beaten by the second worst team in the league, Lampard scores an equaliser against his old club, and suddenly the media realise Manchester United will be nowhere near the title come May! Madness!

4th place looks absolutely wide open at the moment. Don't think Arsenal can match the top 2 but think they'll be a comfortable 3rd.

Southampton's run of games looks nice...
