I'd really love to think MAGIC! could challenge Cheryl for #1 as 'Rude' is likely to be one of the big hits of the year while 'Crazy Stupid Love'... isn't (plus 'Rude' is the better song by far) but realistically their only chance of #1 is if they can climb up in their 2nd week, Cheryl will probably still be untouchable in that first week even with MAGIC! now beating her on pre-orders.

Well I think they can based on these quick figures I've worked out. Obviously I'm generalising a lot with these figures by assuming every single sale is from iTunes but it gives us a good indication by using the sales figures from the last all-sales chart.

By using the last chart compiled just on sales, the #60 got around 3,000 sales. Cheryl has been around the #60 point for nearly the entirety of her pre-order run which has been for around 5 weeks. That gives her 15,000 pre-order sales (based on this generalisation). The pre-order will probably stay around #60 again this week, and rise to around #40 on the final week of pre-order which would add another 3,000 and 4,500 pre-orders respectively based on the aforementioned chart that I'm using. This would mean total pre-order sales of 22,500.

Now when analysing MAGIC!'s pre-orders, so far they've managed a week generally around #75 which based on the chart sales would give them around 2,500 pre-orders. If they get to around #40 this week and then #25 on their final week that would give them 4,000 and 10,000 pre-orders respectively giving them a total of 16,500.

This would suggest Cheryl has a lead of 6,000 pre-orders, then if you take into account the fact that MAGIC! are still gaining momentum and airplay whereas Cheryl does not have that similar momentum due to the long build-up as well as the fact that MAGIC! are more likely to have a streaming advantage - MAGIC! will be less front-loaded with their sales and could easily close that pre-order gap.

Once again I know that 100% of sales are not from iTunes and this is a massive generalisation of what has happened and will happen, but it gives us a good idea that Cheryl's pre-order lead will not be as unbeatable as many of us think. Hope that has made some sort of sense!

I think if Magic continues to increase in popularity over the next two weeks the way he is now, he might even land with a decent lead over Cheryl by the end of the week. Cheryl will still have overall more pre-orders, but Rude will have a good amount too, and will be more popular on the actual release week. I really want Cheryl to release this week for a #!
My little brother wants to know what the top selling songs of July 2013 - July 2014 are/were for something he's doing at school in music classes. Would any sales guru's be able to help with this?

 61. Demi Lovato - Really Don't Care (feat. Cher Lloyd)

Ooh what's this ~

(rhetorical question, just Googled it and I see it's a soundtrack song - must give a listen)

Weird that Matrix & Futurebound's songs always take a few days/weeks to take off
It's a wonder Will.i.Am ever finds time to eat or sleep, with all the music he records... :P

Maybe he makes the music instead of raving and repeating instead?

Lorde - Everybody Wants To Rule The World was just played at the end of the World Cup Football tonight. :D

When did I accuse him of that?

Hopefully Nicole manages to remain ahead for the rest of the week. It's jus my frustrating how huge your love could have been had capital backed it earlier and radio 1 supported it. I'm sure Nicole will manage to get another top 5 which could encourage radio to back her next single.
