Posted August 2, 201410 yr So Leah McFall released her single this week and it looks like missing the top 40 and is almost out of the itunes top 100 already. Despite the hype that she could be a big hit & Will.i.am helping her career she has flopped. Of the three winners none has had a top 20 hit whilst on the xfactor despite being in its 10th year (and falling ratings) Sam Bailey got a number 1 single & album and other acts who didn't even win have also done very well e.g. Ella hendersen came 6th, one direction 3rd, rebecca ferguson 2nd and Union J came 4th and have had 2 top ten songs & a top 10 album What can the voice do to create a big artist
August 2, 201410 yr Not even sure The Voice will survive as a programme tbh and The XFactor does have a much bigger audience which is bound to help a career launch. Undoubtedly Cowell also has more weight and pulling power with commercial radio. But generally I think someone from the Voice can make it. Leah is a bit of a marmite artist, vocally and image wise, someone more safe mainstream might breakthrough.
August 2, 201410 yr What does not help this show is picking rigged winners which is acts the BBC want, and the fact it only appeals to a limited audience. Bo Bruce is probably the best thing from this, and is succesfull.
August 2, 201410 yr I don't think Becky Hill counts as she hasn't had a hit single as a lead artist. She is credited as a joint lead artist on Gecko.
August 2, 201410 yr I doubt the voice will have a big winner to be honest and am surprised they have been given the go ahead for another series. I think poo factor will also continue to lose audience viewers as the public are losing interest in these types of shows. They have now been going for over 12 years and the formula remains much the same.

I agree that is the general trend of talent contests but I think ""poo factor"" will stabilise its ratings or even increase this year because Simon and Cheryl are back. Last season didn't have many good artists so hopefully this year the quality goes up too. Am also looking forward to Mel B being iconic

August 5, 201410 yr Becky Hill's debut solo single was released last week, and didn't even make the top 100 of the chart. While she has had success as a featured artist, this doesn't guarantee solo success. Think of Ella Eyre; number 1 featuring on Rudimental's Waiting All Night, but her debut solo single only managed top 20. Hopefully Ella will do better with her follow-up, as she's brilliant.
August 5, 201410 yr Did the winner of series 2 not have a top 10 album? Yes Andrea Begley did. The one thing that really irked me with Andrea's release was that not even BBC Radio 2 touched her album (which more than catered to their audience). If the BBC is going to produce a somewhat successful winner, they should at least support them in some way.

It's funny that BBC r1 and r2 seem more willing to support X Factor, given it's their rivals. I've never understood why they shun The Voice, they could have had a nice handful of successful recording artists through the show if they wanted to.
August 5, 201410 yr Sadly, the answer looks like no, i had believed Leah McFall would break the trend, people watching the show were willing to download her songs which helped her achieve official chart entries but the interest just fades so quick. X Factor winners often fade but they at least get a decent single or two and album out of it. The Voice winners just appear to grab no interest from the public or industry which will put real talent off entering.
August 5, 201410 yr I tend to forget who the winners are, Ive already forgotten the name who won this year, whereas with x factor I don't. This might be something to do with it if others have the same problem..
