"Bleeding Love" is still incredible and it's one of my favourite songs ever. The opening chord and the key change toward the end still give me shivers every time.

The less said about "With Every Heartbeat", the better. It's really not that bad a song but absolutely no way is it as good as Buzzjack have made it out to be for the past five years. The reason for its huge increase would be because of C(h?)c's closure at the end of 2009 and their members migrating here happening to be big fans I think!

Bleeding Love does not get any better with age. Still annoying. With Every Heartbeat though is still a dream.

6 4 2012 Loreen - Euphoria 494 (4 - 6)

Hands up who saw Euphoria not making the top 5. Be honest. I didn't, I thought, like everyone else it'd only challenge stronger for the title. Maybe, with it not even winning Super Melodifestivalen, its dominance of song contests has come to an end way earlier than anyone predicted. Which is probably because outside Eurovision a fanbase for a Eurovision song can only go so far even when it is the Second Coming of pop music. Or something. In any case, it still takes away by far the highest song from Eurovision and from 2012, and while it has tired on me a lot, at the time it was the best song ever bar none and it still retains much of that for me, and I know for a lot of you.

It is a shame it couldn't make the top 5 but rejoice, because that means the top 5 contains THREE songs from 2004, all on their last go at this game, no matter where they finish within the top 5 they've done incredibly well, and we have a guaranteed shake-up (at least partially) for next time.

Top 5 very soon. Hopefully all in one evening.

7 2 2007 Robyn and Kleerup - With Every Heartbeat 494 (33 - 125 - 7 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 7)

Which of course raises the question, what the hell happened in 2010 that caused this to suddenly be one of the site's favourites when it initially looked like being one of those songs that does well in its first year while the memory's fresh, then vanishes quickly? Very strange.

CHC Media collapsed in 2010 and all of its members came over here and started voting in these countdowns :D

(With Every Heartbeat was absolutely ADORED on that forum, would have been #1 every year by a mile in equivalent charts)

Edit1: What Theo said oops

Edit2: Euphoria not top five :drama:

Rather glad for that and Robyn so low, both are great (though Euphoria's dated awfully) but far, far too overrated on here. I thought Robyn had this on lock so I'm not really sure who'll take it now!

thought Euphoria would've had a good shot of winning! can't quite call it between Toxic/Bad Romance/We Found Love for the 1st place now, a Toxic win would be a nice way to cap off its run in this thing

Mr Brightside top 5 again :o

*ahem*

I'm very surprised/disappointed that "Euphoria" hasn't held on to the top five but to be fair there are some solid songs that have beaten it - I'd only put it behind "Mr. Brightside"! "We Found Love" has to win this now and if not it'd be great (but highly unlikely) for "Everytime" to win on its last shot.

One overrated track propelling another overrated track to even higher levels of overratedness. Magic.

You're probably right but even so a 125-7 jump is pretty crazy (and then it only did even better over the next 3 years).

ChC folded and we all came here - it was the site's favourite track.

edit: Ha. WAY BEHIND!!!

Oh and thank god Euphoria hasn't won this. Now there's a track that's massively overrated on here.

Top 5 happening now :magic:

5 20 2004 Britney Spears - Everytime 512 (55 - 165 - 16 - 17 - 55 - 25 - 30 - 20 - 5)

We bid FAREWELL to this song (and in fact three of the top 5 with both another '04 Brit song and 'Mr. Brightside' to go) and it exits on a big high. 'Everytime' made the final in every edition of this game bar the second (where it fell short of the top 100) but never troubled the top end of the results until now. I am not in any way a fan of this song, in fact very much the opposite. The most positive thing I can say is it's a lot better than the god awful 'Blackout' era, but then so is an audio recording of someone having painful constipation. Sry Britney fans (don't kill me Tyler). I like 'Toxic'!!!

Everytime is absolutely stunning, one of my most favourite songs ever I think. Glad to see it finish on a high  Really hoping for a Toxic win!

Shading 'Everytime' is bad enough, then bringing in 'Blackout' into it just tips it over the edge. For shame Bra, for shame.

'Everytime' is pure perfection.

4 6 2004 Killers - Mr Brightside 540 (X - 101 - 25 - 13 - 5 - 3 - 5 - 6 - 4)

Here it is, the highest male song. Also probably the highest a male-vocalled song will ever get in this game now as Mr. Brightside's 5-year top 6 run is unlikely to ever be matched by any of the current indie-rock pretenders. The anthem of pretty much everyone in Britain, and while I'm sure it's annoyed anyone who doesn't hugely love the song a LOT over the last 10 years the love for it shines far stronger. It was one of the first songs I really remember loving, overplay has dulled that feeling ever so slightly but it's still fantastic for the most part, it has an epic feeling that I doubt anyone will really emulate in quite the same way, and it cemented The Killers' place in history as one of the best indie-rock bands of the 00s. It is a bit of a shame this couldn't get to the top 3 and equal its peak but its second-best performance is quite good enough and I'm sure some people would be crying bloody murder if it WAS any more in contention.

Goodbye Mr Brightside, you've served us well.

3 5 2011 Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris - We Found Love 556 (15 - 5 - 3)

Bucking the usual trend of doing best in this when the memory is still fresh, 'We Found Love' has only worked its way further into the BuzzJack favourites list in the following two years after its debut. Arguably Rihanna's biggest hit (rather difficult to achieve after she'd already had so many monster hits) and fairly inarguably the song that propelled Calvin Harris to worldwide superstar status (or at least got him big in the USA, I forget if he was big elsewhere already), this is a fully deserved top 3 position for a song that will likely go on to be one of the most memorable dance songs of the decade.

It all comes down to 'Bad Romance' vs. 'Toxic' then :o

:o

'We Found Love' is the one i forgot about too, so probably a deserved bronze medal placing over of the other two. The two more "iconic" left.

I would have gone BR > WFL > T but really any order is tolerable and good going.

Toxic has to win over Bad Romance. I really dont think Bad Romance has even aged that well tbh :(.

2 3 2004 Britney Spears - Toxic 593 (6 - 6 - 1 - 4 - 8 - 9 - 4 - 3 - 2)

ALMOST GUYS. We nearly got Toxic to finish by winning this again and denying Bad Romance a 4th year at the top. And in fact, while I was adding this up, Toxic was in the lead for ages and ages and ages. It was only with the last few votes that Bad Romance managed to overhaul it (blame Yu basically). It was also the song I was cheering for the win, it's Britney's best song bar none, which is a little sad but you can't win them all.

Toxic's run is extremely impressive, it has spent 10 years in the top 10 which makes it the most successful song in this competition ever (to be challenged by the song it's been beaten by in 5 years in all likelihood but for NOW), and the competition will definitely lose one of its main contenders from now on. And at least it was actually a (reasonably) close race to the top this time. Britney's been 'in the zone' this year.

WHICH MEANS

1 1 2009 Lady Gaga - Bad Romance 612 (1 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 1)

Yup, she's done it again. The gooddelta of Record of the Decade, 'Bad Romance' grabs a fourth gold medal out of 5 attempts, only briefly stopped by Robyn in 2012 and otherwise cruising to easy victory after easy victory. Some of Gaga's other big hits (remember when she had big hits lol) haven't quite stood the test of time, certainly for me and looking at the results a bit for the rest of you as well, but the CROWN JEWEL of her discography hasn't lost an iota of its appeal over the last 5 years. I'm actually one of the small / non-existent minority who thought 'Judas' was a better song than this despite being an obvious shameless ripoff but preferring shameless ripoffs is my thing really (hello 'She Wolf (Falling To Pieces)', goodbye 'Titanium', hello 'Giant In My Heart', goodbye (but still hello) 'Hideaway'~), I can't really deny 'Bad Romance' as much as I'd have liked a more interesting winner, namely 'Toxic' or 'Mr. Brightside'.

I'd like to apologise for these results going on this long :kink: But I hope you have all enjoyed this year's Record of the Decade and bring awn the next one ~
