60 198 2008 Robyn - Be Mine! 150 (X - X - 126 - 67 - 198 - 60)

59 159 2006 Girls Aloud - Something Kinda Ooooh 203 (129 - 39 - 14 - 44 - 59 - X - 159 - 59)

58 82 2011 Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out 222 (38 - 82 - 58)

57 NE 2013 Justin Timberlake - Mirrors 230 (57)

56 81 2007 Kate Nash - Foundations 240 (159 - X - X - 125 - 138 - 81 - 56)

Final results! Not long to go now. First up is the clear wooden-spoon holder of the final, Robyn's Be Mine!. This is its highest position so it was always going to struggle with more popular Robyn tracks around, unfortunately, really, and it finishes a distant last, 53 points behind its nearest challenger. That challenger is another high climber and a song lucky to be in the final, one of the numerous Girls Aloud tracks, Something Kinda Ooooh. I still remain baffled it was ever 14th best as it's pretty basic, but it is by those 5 girls. It climbs 100 places to return to its position of 3 years ago.

Florence is normally a good artist for filling these sort of areas, liked by loads of people but loved only by a few. Shake It Out, as one of the main highlights off Ceremonials has been oscillating around this position but is looking good to keep its top 100 status for the time being. Mirrors is the lowest of 5 newcomers to the final, and probably is the longest song in the final unless I've missed anything. Unusually, since last year, the one without Mirrors was Timberlake-mania here, it's now his highest track. Fickle, but I suppose it is quite worthy of being his best.

Climbing 25 places to a respectable peak is 2007's closest song to the #1 spot that was never actually a #1; Kate Nash's most well known song. Clearly it's taken some time to gain a fanbase on here, or maybe it's just the doing of Joseph.. and Pavel. Both gave it 25 points, which would make it the lowest finishing track with a top score had Jay not given Something Kinda Ooooh his top score. Oops, sorry guys. Start cheering on other tracks.

There's only Foundations that I voted for there... and only Foundations that I particularly care for. I do like all the rest (Be Mine being one of the only Robyn songs I like), but they didn't come close to being voted for and are generally just 'quite good'.

I used to love love love something kinda ooh but now I just like it

I hate mirrors and shake it out is average for me

Foundations is another one of my favourites, I love that song so much

That is shamefully low for 'Shake It Out' :( Although at least it's a big climb from last year I guess.

55 22 2009 Lady Gaga - Poker Face 244 (2 - 34 - 40 - 22 - 55)

54 23 2004 OutKast - Hey Ya! 245 (13 - 135 - X - X - X - 8 - 21 - 23 - 54)

53 148 2006 Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down 249 (X - 116 - X - X - 132 - X - 148 - 53)

52 24 2008 Leona Lewis - Run 252 (16 - 10 - 31 - 25 - 24 - 52)

51 74 2009 Florence + The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) 252 (X - X - 17 - 74 - 51)

Lady Gaga's horrifically dated 'Poker Face' nearly won the entire thing in its first year, but hasn't come anywhere near close to doing so since then. It had a spike last year back to the 20s but now resumes its yearly declines hitting a new low of number 55. 5 consecutive grand finals isn't too bad I guess. Of course Gaga is still a big contender in this game with 'Bad Romance' which has aged much better.

OutKast's brilliant 'Hey Ya!' has a quirky history in Record of the Decade. It was well received on its first run, almost making the top ten, but then it dropped straight out of the top 100 then out of the top 200 for three years before a sudden unexplained revival got it all the way to 8th. It goes out of Record of the Decade on a four year low but also a fourth consecutive grand final which isn't too bad for a male hip-hop track (albeit a heavily pop oriented one). A similarly quirky history is found for Arctic Monkeys' 'When The Sun Goes Down' - until now it practically alternated between missing the top 200 and making it, but not quite the top 100. It finally gets a big breakthrough following the success of their latest era and shoots from 148 to 53. A well deserved result for what I've always thought was the better of the two Arctic Monkeys #1s, though the other is still to come here.

Leona Lewis' inferior but still good version of 'Run' misses the top 40 for the first time to hit a low of #52 in its sixth year. Finally Florence + The Machine climb back into the top 60 with 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)', its profile possibly raised by the fact its title is plastered all over BuzzJack in the form of one of our posters. Time will tell if the same effect will happen for Lana Del Rey's 'Ultraviolence'. In all seriousness though I'm pleased to see this and 'Shake It Off' recovering this year and hope they can get back to where they were in 2012 next year. *hint* some new material might help *hint*

"Mirrors" is absolutely not the 57th best song of the decade. I liked it enough last year in the lull of late winter and the initial disappointment of "Suit & Tie" but Justin has so many better songs than that! "Be Mine!" is also a very weak song but there's no point arguing about Robyn with Buzzjack.

Leona's cover of "Run" is one of my absolute favourite songs of all-time, so it's always pleasing to see it make a final, even if it is a bit low this year. Two great Florence tracks as well - has she any more to come or is that her lot?

That's the promotion done and dusted for another year.

Dog Days Are Over is left!

I'm losing my patience with Florence, wish she'd release something already.

Quite happy with "Womanizer" rebounding back! It's a pop gem. <3

Pokerface should be top 50, and Justin's whiny ass "Mirrors" needs to just NOT.

50 29 2006 Nelly Furtado - Maneater 252 (8 - 14 - 27 - 48 - 47 - 39 - 29 - 50)

49 56 2004 Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath 253 (138 - 113 - 91 - 57 - 148 - 116 - 130 - 56 - 49)

48 129 2009 Florence & The Machine - Dog Days Are Over 259 (X - X - X - 129 - 48)

47 37 2012 Rudimental (feat. John Newman) - Feel The Love 260 (37 - 47)

46 NE 2013 Bastille - Pompeii 268 (46)

3 songs in the final, but it's all over for poor Florence after merely 3 sections. Although this is a massive improvement for Dog Days Are Over, which has never even been in the top 100 before and if you look at it that way has actually done rather well. It is rather good, probably not my favourite of hers but there we go, it's the most popular on here. Until that elusive new material comes out perhaps.

Maneater started out in the top 10 but hasn't replicated that since despite always being in the final and this year sees it fall to its lowest position yet, which leads to the possibility of it not being in the final one of these days. It has rebounded before but that was prior to Nelly totally killing her pop career. This causes your only solo #1 to fall to 50th. Which is quite bad. Happier news though, for the song above it, Lose My Breath, which leaves this game (and in the process pretty much causes Destiny's Child to leave it, it's not like Soldier or Girl have ever done anything), but leaves it on a high. Choosing between missing the top 100 and just about missing the top 50 in previous editions, despite it doing as badly in the final as it normally does it's managed to sneak its way into the top 50. Yay.

The other two are very new songs and both sung by male people. One is Feel The Love, which made a big impact on this game last time by barrelling its way through every single round to get 37th best of the last 10 years from just being nominated. It drops 10 places to 47th this year but I think it'll take a long time before it'll need to be nominated again, if ever. Great dance #1, the only truly lasting impact Rudimental will have on music, and it did keep a certain song that we'll be talking about later off the top spot (with We Are Young sandwiched in between but no-one remembers that), so it's remembered for that too.

Pompeii however gets a new entry at #46 off the back of being the most-streamed song ever in the UK and being an amazing modern classic. It'll possibly be Bastille's signature song forever, but that's no bad thing. I'm very glad it's managed to make the final on its first time, hopefully this won't be the only time and it'll continue to be up there in future years.

I'm just pleased that 'Something Kinda Ooooh' even made the Top 60!

I accept the opinion~ but I wouldn't agree that 'Poker Face' is particularly dated, not horrifically so certainly. Then again I personally don't find the shift in pop music from 2009 to 2014 to be particularly dramatic enough to regard songs from that time as being dated. I'd say that the way Gaga packaged herself in those days (in terms of image) is what is most dated, but I think the song itself stands the test of time and still sounds fresh compared to a lot of the hits from this year.

I know a lot of people here put 'Bad Romance' on a much higher pedestal than 'Poker Face', but for me they're both superb pop songs - I can barely choose between them! Then there's poor 'Just Dance' which seems to be heavily disregarded these days, but for me it's still one of her very best.

55-51 is the first section where I love every song

Dog days are of is one of Florence's bests (however RH & YGTL are better for me), feel the love and Pompeii are rest new songs and maneater is a classic and one of my favourites ever

Maneater deserves better.

Lose My Breath is soooo blah. Do better.

45 38 2010 Lady Gaga feat. Beyoncé - Telephone 273 (26 - 23 - 38 - 45)

44 15 2011 M83 - Midnight City 275 (13 - 15 - 44)

43 42 2011 Lana Del Rey - Video Games 277 (52 - 42 - 43)

42 92 2010 The Saturdays - Ego 278 (177 - X - 92 - 42)

41 11 2007 Girls Aloud - Call The Shots 282 (30 - 10 - 16 - 17 - 55 - 11 - 41)

'Telephone', the superstar collab between Lady Gaga and Beyoncé (the former was the bigger of the two at the time, can you imagine?), has its worst finish to date, missing the top 40 for the first time although only by 5 places. Also missing the top 40 for the first time is M83's 'Midnight City' - the song is pretty much universally loved by the BuzzIndie, apart from me if you include me in that group (hint: don't), which was enough for it to spend its first two years in the dizzy heights of the top 15 but its support collapses a bit as it drops to 44th. Still good for a song that peaked in the 30s on the official chart. Lana Del Rey's gorgeous 'Video Games' drops one place from last year, spending a second year just outside the top 40.

The other two here are girlgroup tracks with pretty much opposite movements. The Saturdays' 'Ego' took three years to find its footing here, just making the top 200 in its first year then missing out entirely in its second before finally cracking the top 100 in 2013. It improves on that further by flying to number 42. Then the song in the unlucky #41 is my personal favourite song in the top 60 (as unlikely as that should seem from the artist), Girls Aloud's pop perfection 'Call The Shots'. This comes a year after it finished in the unlucky #11 slot, but it was on the other side of the 10/11 pair a few years before that. In the last six years it's finished in the top 20 four times and #41-60 twice.

Really interesting to see how Ego has just recently shot up in Buzzjack's affections! Nearly five years old now and it remains an absolute gem.

That stability for Video Games is fab!

Two of the very best right next to each other in Video Games & Midnight City

40 NE 2013 Little Mix - Move 285 (40)

39 48 2009 Lily Allen - The Fear 288 (29 - 10 - 48 - 48 - 39)

38 43 2008 Katy Perry - Hot N Cold 292 (88 - 42 - 18 - 41 - 43 - 38)

37 12 2004 Anastacia - Left Outside Alone 294 (26 - 10 - 13 - 35 - 14 - 106 - 158 - 12 - 37)

36 16 2005 Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor 295 (58 - 172 - 7 - 26 - 19 - 22 - 16 - 16 - 36)

Little Mix starts off the top 40 in style with their new Buzzjack classic. Turned out it took the best song of their career to keep them relevant as they tackle their sophomore album. I don't think anyone's complaining as it's a whirlwind of a pop single (and the best song of last year in my humble opinion). It did win the 2013 round but there are still 2 more songs to come as new entries that have beaten it here. The Fear is Lily Allen's most well regarded song (and biggest, seems weird exactly how big it was) here by some margin and advances 9 places up after being a non-mover at 48 for the last few years.

Hot N Cold has always somewhat surprised me with its underperformance in the final, the 2011 game aside. Because it normally wins or is a major player in the yearly 2008 round, yet by the time we get round to the final its support collapses and it almost invariably ends up around the 'just missed the top 40' region. It makes it just inside this year, but, onto a wider point, considering she's been one of the biggest popstars in the world for several years it's still a little hard to believe that we're saying goodbye to Katy Perry's involvement in this game already. Hot N Cold remains her only single to have ever made the final (although we very got close this time with E.T.). When numerous Girls Aloud, Rihanna, Gaga and Saturdays songs fly through every round in this game like nobody's business, I don't really understand the relative KP snub. Maybe in future years.

Left Outside Alone and (basically) Anastacia bow out with what seems like a middling performance until you realise this is the song's third-worst performance over 10 years. I'm not sure what happened in the two years where it took a huge huge dive but it managed to get a resurgence so all's fine really. Finally, Arctic Monkeys continue their incredible run of 7 years in the final, even though this is also their third-worst performance. Certainly one of the indie-rock anthems of the 00s, it's still common to hear even today and is just a tiny bit incredible. With When The Sun Goes Down joining us this year, this was the first time it saw a fellow AM song in the final but even so it's managed to retain its position as the premier song by Alex Turner & co and looks good to do so for the one year it has left (unless perhaps Do I Wanna Know has a big surge, it did just win their rate...).

Midnight City  It's not just the BuzzIndie people who love it, I do too!

great to see Rudimental and Bastille in the top 50! two future classics surely

Love all of those entries, minus Anastacia... Which I haven't heard. Lol.
Love all of those entries, minus Anastacia... Which I haven't heard. Lol.

:o you must be joking?

Modern pop classic !

Wow so many amazing songs

The Fear is in the 10 best songs of all time and Video Games is top 20. I love and adore both songs so much

Move is a recent pop classic and one of the best songs last year

I did use to find Call The Shots overrated but I am starting to really like it

Telephone and Hot N Cold are the best by their respective artists [Gaga only for the former] which says so much as they are both amazing

Left Outside Alone is a great song

I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and Ego are also both classics for me

Just wow

Where the songs were on my favourites songs ever top 20: Video Games [7], The Fear [10], Telephone [14]
