September 23, 201411 yr What a sad update... Professor Green scraping a T10 place and Lady Gaga missing out with her jazz album. At least alt-j are looking to do alright with their #1 opening, but it'll still have a way to go before it outsells the platinum-selling #13 debut! Singles wise, nice that Jessie J & co. are looking to open on 100k I guess, I'm just hopeful that the streaming can pick up so it doesn't suffer too much a drop in the coming weeks. Disappointed to see Duke Dumont down that far though!
September 23, 201411 yr Since it's my birthday on Sunday and I don't want to hear about how blessed Jessie J feels because she's no.1, I don't think I'll be listening to the chart.
September 23, 201411 yr That's the only thing that makes sense to me right now why CTC is at #12, because it's basically been #11 on iTunes since its release so surely that is downloads only? The physical sales should be huge and I've seen many little monsters complaining that stores haven't stocked the physical yet! If it was download only, it would be a lot lower than #12 in the midweeks considering the digital share of the album market is small.
September 23, 201411 yr It's pretty logical, if Gaga/Tony are at #12 on pretty much just downloads then it will be boosted well with the addition of physicals. It is the same excuse every fanbase uses whenever their fave is under-performing. If supermarkets aren't stocking it it is because they don't want to, after all they were selling Artpop for £3 not long after release after ordering far too many copies. People seem to think things like that don't matter, but if you are a supermarket chain and you look at Gaga's last album and half the copies you had to sell at a loss because they just didn't shift then you would think twice before placing another order of a new album.
September 23, 201411 yr I wasn't expecting Cheek To Cheek to sell brilliantly but missing the top 10 in the first update? Major ouch there. I imagine her next pop album won't do much better, GaGa is sadly not the huge selling power she once was
September 23, 201411 yr Crap position for C2C. I'm a Gaga fan but I'm not interested in her Jazz album at all.
September 23, 201411 yr I wasn't expecting Cheek To Cheek to sell brilliantly but missing the top 10 in the first update? Major ouch there. I imagine her next pop album won't do much better, GaGa is sadly not the huge selling power she once was You can't really base that on CTC tho, which a non-commercial side project than *a Gaga album* (as much as I love it and want it to do well). And realistically she was never going to sell 2.8m albums in the UK each era was she, especially with album sales constantly on the decrease
September 23, 201411 yr I expect Gaga to be lower top 20, at best, at the end of the week. Wouldn't surprise me if it fell out tbh
September 23, 201411 yr GaGa tweeted the album was number one in itunes worldwide so while it might not do well over here, it could be quite successful around the rest of the world
September 23, 201411 yr GaGa tweeted the album was number one in itunes worldwide so while it might not do well over here, it could be quite successful around the rest of the world It was #1 in 12 countries yesterday on iTunes and top 10 in 50 countries and it's doing really well in the US! The UK situation is just so bizarre I don't even know what to say or think about it :(
September 23, 201411 yr I'm glad Gaga hasn't done well with her new album. Don't get the fuss about Jessie J's new collaboration - it's awful and doesn't deserve to be no1.
September 23, 201411 yr GaGa tweeted the album was number one in itunes worldwide so while it might not do well over here, it could be quite successful around the rest of the world Tbh I'd take that with a pinch of salt...I remember soon after Artpop came out she tweeted about 'celebrating 1.2 million copies' when it had actually sold about 670K. I am surprised it hasn't even made the Top 10 in the first update though.
September 23, 201411 yr Author Tbh I'd take that with a pinch of salt...I remember soon after Artpop came out she tweeted about 'celebrating 1.2 million copies' when it had actually sold about 670K. I am surprised it hasn't even made the Top 10 in the first update though. I would assume she's mistaken shipped copies for actual sales there. It's like when it's claimed a song has reached #1 in 50 countries when it's probably just the song reaching the top on iTunes. So technically true, but just misleading people. :P
September 23, 201411 yr GaGa tweeted the album was number one in itunes worldwide so while it might not do well over here, it could be quite successful around the rest of the world No matter what she releases, she always finds a way to tweet about being number 1 and brag about it. <_<
September 24, 201411 yr For Gaga, the album HAD sold 1.2m if it had shipped that amount. She gets the money of that. Edited September 24, 201411 yr by SKOB
September 24, 201411 yr Redlight new at 36. Cheryl just holding on at 40 Wow this redlight song is awful Hozier are highest climber in Wed update at 29. Another first listen for me Edited September 24, 201411 yr by Ultraviolence1989
